So that's the reason people would be doing that. Plus when you apply for EI online you have to go into the office anyway to drop off your ROE. Plus a number of cities have amalgamated their EI offices into other offices as well, so it's a bloody ordeal just going in to just drop the papers off.

Legitimate power may come from the bottom, but all the people capable of changing things are stuck in the middle.

Slashdot had an article a few days ago about the insane cheapness of text messages. Something to the effect of your monthly cellphone bill could pay for all the text messages ever transmitted world wide since the advent of text messages. Something like that is so appalling you'd think people would be crucifying the cell providers. But no, they don't. No riots, nobody particularly cares.

  13. Re:Game-related programs can be good on Game-Related Education On the Rise At Colleges · · Score: 1

I think the reason people are dismissive is because by and large these game courses are a scam. The school I studied animation at also offered a 'games' program, which was heralded as the most expensive in the country, at a whopping $60 000 for the one year course. In that one year they tried to cram everything on your list into the curriculum. That's sensory overload for anybody. Needless to say the graduates of the program were pretty much awful at every aspect of their studies, and a lot poorer for their efforts.

From my experience there isn't much point in trying to cram that much into a gaming program. Especially the artistic side of things. Looking at most job boards, companies are primarily looking for either programmers or artists. As a programmer being able to animate, or model is an asset, but when they get into a studio they'll very likely be hired on for one specific position.

Seriously. It's all the trend of the people who do all the programming having no idea what the hell people use their software for and just program things they think it's cool but artists have no bloody use for. People who program 3D especially are as unreceptive to change requests as they come. Hence my disgust at this new useless software.

  16. So this isn't actually useful on A 3D Curve Sketching System For Tablets · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Adding the ability to draw curves in the perspective window doesn't actually do anything helpful to the NURBS modeling workflow. It would be so nice if people responsible for making 3D software would actually fix the tools they've already implemented rather than introducing superfluous new ones that don't help anything. Please, if you science types actually want to make a genuinely appreciated contribution to 3D graphics, fix the bevel tool in Maya, also while you're at it modify the sculpt tools in Maya so they don't just make the geometry explode, and maybe add a 'make planiar' function. That would really be useful. Also the skin weighting tools could use some improvements. Like add a better visual feedback to what's associated with what and completely ditch the paint function. Also make it so I don't have to go into the component editor and babysit every vertex while I'm skin weighting. Oh yeah also, I'd really appreciate it if you'd make it so keys I set on constraints would show up on the time slider, giving them a different colour than red would also be handy. And when using constraints when the constraint is set to zero it should constrain to the world, not snap back to the origin. That's just a bloody headache.

We here at Bell would like to point out that despite their 1gbps connections, Japan still has monkeys that get inside peoples houses and cause all sorts of trouble.
