"Calling it Darwminism opens the door for creationism"...
That would suggest that no thousands-of-years-old book EXISTED before Darwin. Kinda like the "consensus" we've already reached, so no more debate can take place on GlobalWarming(TM). This is known as propaganda.
The fossil record matches the Bible; that pre-cambrian explosion, not a billions-of-years-old scaling up of sophistication. And we're really supposed to still consider ideas from a woman-hating racist who couldn't see anything in the protoplasm?
Since when is agreement between scientists science?
Did we _agree_ on the conservation of energy? No, we proved and re-proved it. Speed of light? Same thing.
GlobalWarming(TM) is another scam in the form of The OzoneHole(TM) and KillerBees(TM). The Earth changes all the time. And the fearmongers are using junk science to get themselves money and the politicians, complete power over all businesses.
The 'jungles' of America are every bit as bad as the jungles of the world. Hot, wet, mosquito traps. Even though mosquitoes are *also* in the arctic circle. Funny though, how the only place they don't cause malaria is outside America.
The reason for this is the controversial chemical DDT. When it was created, it was suggested as a completely safe spray for mosquitoes. It wasn't. It was liberally applied, killing dozens, if not hundreds of people. Yes, it killed mosquitoes, and has kept them in check (with other chemical advances behind it) ever since.
However, Europe loves to use Africa as it's tool.
The EU (visionaries, thinkers, makers of good pastry) has decided to tell Africa that America wants to kill it, 'dumping their chemicals' into Africa. A whole scare-campaign has been set up to convince people there the only way to protect themselves and manage the 300,000 dead each year is to keep the dangerous chemicals away, and buy French-made mosquito nets.
They also have the notion that, though a nation who has known more poverty and pain than any other continent, they should *only* use sun and wind power. This tends to mean running the fridge for the medicine or the light, not both.
The EU is cruel, doesn't understand the pain it's pumping out, and cares only about money.
So go ahead, Mr Gates- not only do you have DDT on your side, but really good malaria drugs, created by capitalism....something Europe has largely left behind. That'll show'em!
Wasn't it humans trying to breed with monkeys that (at least in theory) was the cause of AIDS?
This stuff isn't natural. Oh, sure- a thing of fantasy...but not reality.
I'll bet someplace little girls by the dozens are WHAPPING little boys on the head, in hopes that a 70-foot-tall robot grows out of his head, and miraculously squeezes back in. (That's anime, too.)
Grow up guys. Ya know what this would do to both gene pools if we made it possible?
Yeah, as one of the older Slashdotters here, I clearly remember the first ecology movement in America. Everything about it was "green" (why I'm sick of it, now).
Back then they pushed wind, solar, nuclear....but those same liberals that wanted to uproot people and put in a solar or wind farm can't be bothered to consider nuclear any more. FCOL, FRANCE leads us in nuclear power generation, getting something like 70% of their power from it. We get 60% of ours from coal, and now Obama wants to 'bankrupt the coal industry'. (So which way is the price gonna go?)
And I concur- the venerable Teddy Kennedy was the one that chased that windfarm outta HIS back yard.
The sad truth is, solar power will *never* be more than 50% effecient in the atmo. It's really not worth it.
This is a usual, start-of-life report. Keep in mind: if Microsoft should ever be competent at patching the holes in their OS, Russian mobsters will probably put out a hit on him. Too much money is made on this broken OS.
1. There is nothing evil about having made money. Ask George Soros who has billions.
2. IBM is a privately held company, not a government entitity. If they want to buy a jet or rework a division or two, that's (literally) their business, and not the business of Congress, or the president, no matter who he is.
3. Sending money to Washington: not a smart way to create jobs. History shows that.
But never mind that. We've been sane a long while, and change will be good!
The only way these Congressmen leave is by ambulance?
Why do I seem to be the only guy screaming for Term Limits? We need sane decision-makers, not self-centered money-takers. No one person should spend more than 20 years in elected office of ANY kind.
Why is that so hard to accomplish? Why does no one else care? OH! 16+ years of abundance through the recent administratons.
Remember plush animals? How many times have they tried to break out of their box, just to throw money away? They sell three things, reliably:
Software at ridiculous markup Keyboards Mice
Everthing else fails. They have a tin-ear for customers. They just have no history of supporting customers. Anyone remember calling Microsoft for a tech support call lately? (Not counting the handful of multi-billion dollar corporations that HAVE support agreements...)
If you want hand-holding tech support, Apple is your company. While a ton of people are blind to what they offer, even more blind to the idea there are alternatives...nobody 'warms up' to Microsoft. They're just cold.
As we go along we see projects like ME and Vista; crashes between the coders and the marketers. This comes from throwing away great sections of code and starting over, while trying to maintain backward compatability at a tremendous cost...not the organic growth of Linux. You'll see more of these, and they'll get bigger.
One day problems like this could be the reason they end; it's the only thing they actually _do_.
Say, whatever happened to Origami? Remember the Samsung engineers running Linux on it before it left the factory? Just another of a hundred failed projects, I suppose.
I hate to sound mean about this, but as the IT industries 'canary in a coal mine' Dvorak has a record of having been wrong for close to three decades. Just look something up!
At this point, I take comfort in hearing that Microsoft will squish Linux, if Dvorak says it. I'm surprised he's not called "Often-Wrong Dvorak". I can't recall a single time he made a prediction and it was accurate- can anyone?
A keyboard alternative that's had 20+ years to enter the market and hasn't...how long did Bernouli Boxes last? How long did Jazz drives last? What other peripheral has had this much time to prove itself, and didn't?
To clarify; I'm scoffing the _record_, not the man, whom I've never met.
Cordless phones used to be nice, down around 900mhz; the ones from 1ghz+ are almost line-of-sight anyway. They should be taking the frequency down, not up, to improve service....anyone can communicate by laser- notice how few do?
They'd like you to think this is about homosexuality; it's not.
This is an ordinance that's been batted-down several times by the populace of California, and put BACK into play by unelected judges. I don't live in California, but I try to pay attention- Prop 8 must be that 'last stand for freedom' I've been hearing about.
For 300,000,000 people, 9 men in black robes, appointed to their positions, who can't be removed without a gun, can decide things with a swish of a pen. The recent encroachment into Freedom of Speech and the damaging of the eminent domain clause are just two of the changes *they* made, that *we* didn't want.
So no in California, the land where power companies have your thermostat, where smoking in a car is attempted manslaughter, where people are leaving in droves because they though the goverment could do it better...their trying to pull another fast one on the people.
There's a a reason I don't live in California; but there's no reason NOT to pay attention to this, 'cause if they make it there, they'll bring it here.
The time is 1940; the extremely-obsolete P-36 "Peashooter?" was the only aircraft of it's kind ready-to-go. Someone was working to improve the plane, and get some in the air ASAP, or we'd have almost nothing.
So they stuck a new, more powerful engine the P-36 firewall, ran the required plumbing, and all the sudden we had a fighter plane! No, not dominant, but a competitor! Powerful, tough in many respects. Best yet, the airplane factory was already making them, minus the engine-change!
The P40 Warhawk wasn't the best aircraft of the war...like in all wars, America needs to spill some blood to 'get good' in each war. (Sorry, but true!) This plane was able to be produced in numbers, eventually flew under TWENTY SEVEN FLAGS, and was able to give us some victories when everything looked so dark in 1942. Most people remember it for the 'Shark Mouth' paint job on the Flying Tiger's models. It was the plane we really, really needed at the time.
When the new design was ready to go, the government bought 500 of them for "approximately 13 million dollars".
Would that buy an avionics system for ONE plane today?:>
Well, yeah...but television sets aren't usually that fast (even if they ARE on the right channel when they're turned on...)
This would merit a bigger hurrah from me if I rebooted my machines more than once a month. It's an accomplishment, sure! Pretty good-sized one, too! I just don't reboot much, that's all. We have another OS for all that stuff.;>
There's one thing that lost journalism: ethics and objectivity.
Most "journalists" won't go to the trouble of turning on an AM radio to hear what Limbaugh says for themselves, they follow a narrative and call him fat. (Hasn't been fat for a decade)
Recently "journalists" ignored *multiple* trips to Iraq on the part of John McCain, but nearly fought each other to take the trip with Obama. It was embarrassing. That's neither ethical, nor objective.
Remember all the stories about Haditha and other claims of horrible mutilation that the reporters were more than happy to cover, but none of them were true? Real journalists would have published a retaction YEARS AGO. Once Watergate permitted a reporter to take down a president, journalism schools turned into the Democrat Party's presidential character assassins.
Proper journalists would have permitted you to know:
Lives lost in Afganistan/Iraq:
- include bus-wrecks in Seattle, not just hostile fire
- Are a fraction of every other war we've had, except Grenada
- About 1/4 of the murders that happen in NYC every year
WMDs in Iraq:
- Include 'hot rodded' (long range) missiles built for sending biological payloads to Israel outlawed by the UN.
- Include nearly 8T of yellowcake uranium that Wilson said was never there. Outlawed by the UN
- The much-tracked and much feared biologicals and such went to Syria, and are documented by a colonel who oversaw the project. Outlawed by the UN, too.
And for some reason the TV would have you think there was no reason to go back to Iraq; 492 times Saddam tried to shoot down our aircraft enforcing the no-fly zones. We could have gone back the first time, but Clinton didn't want to rock the boat.
So the way the war came off, with the media in the pocket of the DNC, was a very different one than on the television: ask any vet that was there.
No amount of jazzy, flashy web pages will solve their core problems.
Look how many times Microsoft operating systems have done SO much worse than this. Look at the bot net nobody knew about for like a decade, digging it's way through people's data for account numbers. How many times have we been here because of bad code or dishonest practices?
And how you suggest a street address in a music file is a problem? Really?
If you run Windows, this should be the least of your worries. Generally speaking, if you run it, you deserve it. This is just something that comes with it, no?
We *all* know (by consensus, ya know) that the sun doesn't heat the planet- CO2 does! Don't worry about the sun, just stop breathing heavy! How can the sun be dangerous? (If it were, Al Gore woulda told us...he has a Nobel Prize, ya know...):)
They seem to share a similar problem with us; the media is owned by the government. Now, HERE, journalism is an outmoded word like SteamShanty. There, the media has been bought for so long, their version of PBS has actually TAKEN OVER.
Look, guys, at what we have to look forward to, when we don't ASK QUESTIONS of our leaders. It's what happens when we think (for reasons that must be insanity!) that government can do a better job than we can.
Everywhere you go, our Congress has touched things and made them worse. Now, after grabbing almost a trillion dollars in "an emergency", they're looking for all sorts of other "emergencies" in a power grab like we've never seen before.
When PBS owns the airways of AmeriKa, and we all must follow the leader who keeps getting elected, and elected, and elected....I'd rather miss 20 minutes of Doctor Who than live in that place.
No, don't mark me troll: my complaint is made to make people think, not to urge voting for any particular candidate. And I'm not here to fight, I'm here to debate.
Conservatism, the idea that the government (especially the Federal one) doesn't have the right, or a history of doing things right. Remember the $600 toliet seat? Are you really gonna let them run your healthcare? Really?
Wonder where your freedoms went? Liberalism ate them. And every time it was "for the children":
- For example, smoking in your car with a kid in California is ATTEMPTED MURDER. (Even though you can't kill with second hand smoke. No, ya can't!)
- In California, the power companies, not you, own the setting on the thermostat.
= The EPA now considers CO2 a pollutant.
No Republican...especially no _Conservative_ ever had anything to do with this madness. Welcome to Liberalism and the New AmeriKa! Yay, change at last! I was so bored at having money and freedom.
When we all seem so quick to label the guy next door as subhuman because he smokes cigars, do we really NEED a humanoid that Darwinists can point to, beat their chests and declare their superiority....AGAIN?
(See also: World War 2, the MasterRace(TM) and 150,000,000 dead.)
No need to wake the dead. No sense bringing to live some poor creature to have it cut up for science, all to realize it's not the same thing, anyway.
Just like the eco-frauds point to the rain forest (once known as the jungle) and with big, gaping eyes and wiggling lips ask America "What can you do to stop it?" The world looks to us again to reign this in, too. It's not our job.
As you suggest, it's the country sponsoring the pirates. How hard is that for the rest of the world to understand? And need we really pretend it's happening *without* any help from China or Russia? Every time there's a badguy on the horizon threatening someone, he has a Russian gun in his hand or Chinese satellites backing him up.
So good on ya, for pointing out the root cause. (Now, if anyone will decide to DO something, it'll get done.) (I can't mod you up, or I would...)
A lot of places offer Linux solutions; they're not getting out of the business and more are in line behind them.
Microsoft makes a great deal of money from computer malarkey; keeping the culture dangerous means they need someone to 'look after them' (and be paid extortion money) to avoid the viruses and such that have sprung up around their many flaws. They're invested in it; if they solved all their problems tomorrow, they'd loose money.
Case in point:
I contracted for a church. They had three PCs, but I turned on into a Linux server instead of a Windows server, the other two stayed XP (I believe). Over the next THREE YEARS I never went back to fix the Linux server- it never needed it, and I'm their only Linux guy. But in those three years, a reason was found for the company for whom I contracted to visit the site EVERY MONTH for one of these two machines. I know this, 'cause my boss told me.
You can't make money on the software, but you can make money on the support. It's the way it's done. It's the way it's always been done, as far back as I can remember to the start of the Linux days.
You putzes. What *will* you do when Bush has left the WhiteHouse? Who will you blame everything on?
This is SUCH a bigger story than your lead-in suggests: remember that BOTH candidates were hacked just before the election. It's more likely this is Chinese spying than the current administration looking for terrorists. Don't you KNOW what a ruckus it would cause to be caught at this? Do you think they'd take that chance? And what would the payoff be?
No, this is a force outside the USA, or elements of a foreign group inside. Stay Tuned; we'll know if this information was useful, but it might be revealed 20 years from now on Pravda or such.
How ELSE will people keep a lid on the ruling elite? :>
"Calling it Darwminism opens the door for creationism"...

Good luck with it!
"Warrantless Wiretapping", my ass.
