They cannot. China and Japan are biggest holders of US Gov Treasures bonds and bills. Although it is a matter of time, but imagine them starting to sell it all of sudden on such news.
do you mean that there is something else on DVDs ?? wow... [/sarcasm]
On serious note -- just turned TV on to watch something with my son, found some movie rated PG, guess what? The scene that we happend to jump on was waaay too adult -- some heavy breath and kissing in "most common position" for sex. Now, how this system suppose to be perfect (and less then perfect is not acceptable, right?) if they cannot rate whole movie properly, less some scenes off it...
Does this mark the beginning of a major change in the music industry?
Could be. As pure speculation for the possible reason: assuming that Apple will buy Universal, they are afraid of "next big move" -- Univapple (Appleversal?) will be selling music online just like that -- no protection, unlimited copy etc. So, my WAG is that we are witneses of the beginning of the new pricewar.
There are some possible applications

Presenting The CDR-ROM

· Score: 2, Interesting
This is actually semi-good thing.
Imagine game that you dont need to install, it plays off the CD itself and writes save games there. Bad thing about it -- games could become "one time playable" only.
Or even worse -- one time installable software, that writes some reg. info to CD itself.
How about some exams on CD that you pass or not pass and it saves your results directly to CD?
But again, could be possible to create copy of this CD and do this again, and again, and again...:)
well. I am not complaining that YOUR application is memory hog in particular. I am mostly surprised that after all these talks about memory footprint in Java,.Net shows pretty much the same and no one give a damn.
Good luck with your app, I hope you will avoid Napster's doom.
More importantly, they claim that this will be backwards compatible to existing DVD technology
But wait a sec... with which DVD it will be compatible? DVD-R ? DVD-RAM? DVD-RW? DVD+RW? There are more then enough DVD-xxx technologies already, and if rate of creating new ones will be the same, I think in 7 years they will have at least 3-5 new more to choose from!
automotive applications (cool engine with sound generated by engine; kind of an sound based turbocharger)
Are you part-time genius?:)
This is VERY good idea, although I have some doubts that engine has the "right" frequency range. Plus, how 1st (or 2nd?) law of termodynamics will interfere in this case.
well, it is not about pattern, it is about constant stimulus that becomes part of life. How about just getting used to constant massage (sp) of your feet? Even if it's random, it is some stimulation still.
You know, once when we had powerdown in our building, and I remember that uneasy "something terrible wrong" feeling because of disappearing noise of computes and vents.
But does it mean that after some time they will get used to it? And have even more problems walking on "just" a floor? Or, like with any stimulators, will they need increasing amplitude/freq over time?
They cannot. China and Japan are biggest holders of US Gov Treasures bonds and bills. Although it is a matter of time, but imagine them starting to sell it all of sudden on such news.
well... as you know, old saying goes like this: "10 Terabits will be enough for everybody".
(sorry, couldn't resist)
great comment... but you missed the point -- he talked about second one.
oh crap... that was DreamWorks (checked www.shrek.com)!
Comeon... First 1 min of Shrek was completely unpredictable (with this famous "yeah, right"). Ending was defined not in 20 mins at all...
... and then overclock the heck of it.
I am sorry, me bad with English. Overclock what, "refrigator"? waayyy too cool (pun intended) for me...
to edit violence or sex from a user's DVD

Looks like this guy misfired the gun in his own server...
it's only me or does anyone else miss small pause and "My name is AssFace and I am iNternet user" at the end? :)
Just out of curiosity, do you have some link to this "trading system" of yours?
Thanks.
I guess they should have United Servers of Beneton too! (beowulf cluster of colors)
You forgot farmers themselves.

it is called two-colored sideways hearth. But ,as Miky Rurk (sp?) said in "9 1/2 weeks" "I have a girl that have hearth shaped ass"...

... for application that supposed to be in background??? I read it as not only Java has memory footprint problems, but .NET based ones too. :(
Thanks Chris,
:)
thats means that it is looong time ahead when we will have kPhoenix on Win32. Well, I can wait
Is there KHTML based browser for windows a-la Phoenix? Dare to compare size and "bloatness"
Thanks in advance
