I'd like to study why freshmen are buying expensive macs rather than inexpensive everything else.

Wait wait back up. So they see nothing constitutionally wrong with teaching creationism in a public school? What?! I...I...Internet rage, it is not pretty. All joking aside, if they went ahead with this the secular and even the non secular community will have a grand ol' time tearing it all down around their ears, children shall not be indoctrinated into religion of any sort. There won't be a theocracy while the constitution stands.

  5. And yet, on An Unprecedented Look At Apple's "Black Labs" · · Score: 1, Insightful

And yet they still miss obvious bugs in design. Now, I'm an Apple hater, I admit it, I will never buy an Apple or encourage someone to do so. I don't imagine anyone would change their opinion about Apple after seeing their testing chamber that may or may not have been set up on the fly for the purposes of marketing.

  7. Oh ho on PC Gamers Too Good For Consoles Gamers? · · Score: 1

It would've been very fun to be able to play against console players in Team Fortress 2 even though I imagine many of them would complain about aim bots and the like but those same people complain on the PC version anyway. I'd have been interested to see some actual figures on kill ratios between console and PC FPS's

Funny that, originally paying for tv got you ad free tv. Why should people pay a monthly fee if the company will just milk them some more with time wasting and often annoying ads?

Now I am personally an Apple hater. But can someone explain to me how Apple can remotely get away with bullying a company out of a different name for a completely different product?

  13. Re:Sexist field on Women Dropping Out of IT · · Score: 1

It is quite possible, society does spend a lot of time telling women that they should respected because of their genitals. When presented with someone who doesn't follow this rule they may not know what to do. Those that haven't fallen into that conditioning can be quite powerful and are more often than not counted as one of the guys.

  20. From a marketing point of view on The Realities of Selling Independently Developed PC Games · · Score: 1

Piracy is free publicity, if the game is so good that people are glued to their screens, they'll buy it, their friends will buy it, their less technical friends who don't even know how to pirate, will buy it. Not only that but it spreads the name of your indie company. It's free advertising, who knows those priates may be the source of your bug reports so that you can fix things in the game that would otherwise kill sales. I was even considering just passing around free copies outside beta.

  21. Well... on Game Publishers Pressuring Sony For PS3 Price Cut · · Score: 1

Honestly the console wars are a bit retarded. The PS3 isn't a failure until people just stop talking about it all together this is evidenced by all the other failed gamesystems. The PS3 can stick around for a long, long time and as production methods get cheaper the 360 advantage won't exist anymore. On top of that people are going to get a little miffed when MS comes out with the next Xbox while PS3 users are still sitting pretty with backwards compatability and still superior hardware and graphics.

  22. Procedural World on Building a Successful "Open" Game World · · Score: 1

I'd have to say that in order for a world to be both open ended and free without being tedious and bland, someone would have to come up with a procedural generation method that would also appear to be organic in a ways. Perhaps having the parameters of later areas effected by the player's actions. And also making it consistent for areas already visited if it involves people. A procedural Oblivion would be without a solid main plot just a series of higher level goals and perhaps missions that may or may not be impossible if the character comes at them with the wrong skills. As for the landscape it would have to be generated within certain constraints just so it looks like earth but to allow different climates, different weather systems and the like and have the people who are produced therein act as though they come from that area or have traveled from another. Also in order to accompany voices someone would have to make a vocal synthesizer that would account for variations between people, different conversations and emotions. And rather than having no voice allow the person to design their character's voice which carries as many if not more facets than the face...A lot of work. A long lot of work.
