  1. He makes sense on Current Doctor Who Warns Against Facebook · · Score: 1

There is a lot of smart about Matt Smith. I have a facebook account, but only use it when truly necessary, usually for development. I've always known there is nothing for free in this world and I value my privacy more than free internet socializing. I would rather PAY for an account with the guarantee that everything is 100% under my control.

None of this yet has done anything towards world peace. World unease, perhaps, world friction, sure, but nothing about peace. Someone is jumping the gun here.

  5. Re:One of the issues are.. on Why JavaScript On Mobile Is Slow · · Score: 1

Well, it really depends on your site's design.. And then again there are sites and then there are web apps.. So, for example, say you adhere to the 'Responsive Web" school of design, then, you are going to be building a site which will start from mobile and then scale all the way to the desktop, but along the way, you will be altering your design to get more bang for your buck when you get more resolution from your user-agent.

If you are using libraries, more than likely, there will be a lot of code from these libraries which might not provide you with any functionality, until you scale up in your browser expectations/requirements and features.

For the sake of efficiency, it would make more sense to have a smaller, more compact library with only the core functionality you require and then with dynamic loading, add extra javascript module as required and/or use a factory pattern for your API which adapts to the user-agent as well as available features (always better to perform feature detection first).

  18. Privacy software will be a red flag, they will see this coming a mile away, hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the NSA wasn't indirectly funding a few of these apps themselves just to give you some false sense of security.

In the end, if you want your privacy, well, keep it private! :)

But beware social media and most of all, be smart. You don't want people to know, then don't use electronics for your very sensitive stuff, or at the very least, keep it hush, sneaker net, or word of mouth.

Sure you could be a genius and create your own e-mail and electronic data transfer app with your own private key system for security, using your own encryption, and perhaps, passing this info and software only to those in the 'need-to-know' and then, use the old snail mail system to distribute the software and the key(s), etc..
