Sir: If your grammar truly is that crude, I certainly would not want you to be any part of my software engineering team. As I've posted previously on /., grammar/syntax, spelling, and mathematics are a large part of the computing field, and I simply will not hire anyone that does not have a firm grasp of those basics. It is important that one carry through life the gift that is grammar. To exercise it at all times, lest others think one is ignorant. It is apparent that somewhere along the way the system failed. You were allowed you to graduate with less than an eigth-graders grasp of something as simple as Haiku. Perhaps you slid through school because of who mommy or daddy are. Perhaps you just don't care. Either way, it is a shame. What kind of company would hire a software developer unwilling or unable to write or speak fluently in English?

I don't care what studies/articles imply. I want a neutral net, and I don't care if it means double-the-bandwidth of a tiered network. The internet wasn't designed for machines, it was designed for people. I'm not a second-class citizen if I can't pay a higher premium for tiered net access. My connection latency and throughput (up to my bandwidth cap) should be the same as that of my neighbor (household hardware dependent, or course), regardless of the packages we pay for. If our ISP cannot deliver a video-on-demand service (for example) without improving network capacity, the cost of that upgrade should be born equally by every customer the ISP has.

Of course it's already done in Canada (and done so voluntarily by the big oil/gas producers/sellers) as it is in "their best interest." That's how most large corporations run, not in the interest of the people . . . not even in the interest of fairness and honesty. They operate solely to line the pockets of the top executives and board members. They need to pay for their arrogance. I think the regulating government agency in the U.S. should require that these corporations install temperature sensors in all fuel pumps or tanks (whichever is more economical, since we the people ARE fair) at the expense of the big oil/fuel producers/sellers. They should have been installing them as a matter of course. The temperature sensors should be integrated into every new pump that is manufactured/installed, and pumps older than a given factor should be mandated to be replaced with one of these new pumps.

  11. Re:Manhunt2 on Take Two Shelves Manhunt 2 · · Score: 0

I disagree with some of what you wrote. The only children the rating won't prohibit are those with parents that put something else ahead of the welfare of that child. One example I can readily come up with is a career. If such prevents a parent from providing adequate supervision, either themself, a nanny, or a qualified and responsible sitter, then I would qualify that parent to be unfit. If you're going to raise a child, they come first. If you can't do both without placing your child in harms way (in this case, gaining access to violent content), then you should not have children until such time as you are able to do so. Also, it is illegal for a store employee to sell cigarettes and alcohol to a minor. I see no difference between them and a mature-content game or video title. Using your logic, it would be the parents responsibility to prevent their child from gaining access to those items.

  13. Manhunt2 on Take Two Shelves Manhunt 2 · · Score: 0

I'd like to say I agree with the decision to rate Manhunt2 as an AO title. Rating systems are in place for a reason: Too many children up to and including the age of 17, are getting access to content that they should not have access to. If a parent disagrees with this policy, then he/she may purchase a restricted title and supply it to their own child. If they don't purchase the title at the childs request, then so be it. Don't blame that decision on the rating system ... you're merely keeping the decision-making ability for such a purchase from the adolescent, which is as it should be.

You might be the smartest IT guy this side of the local galactic super-cluster, but it's all for naught if I haven't a clue what you're trying to get across to me. I would suggest that in addition to repeating one year of Computer Science that you also freshen up on English grammar and spelling. By repeating the year you not only better your grades you will, in most likelihood, better your understanding of the subject matter, which will indicate to a perspective employer/recruiter that you view your education as important, not just something you rushed through because you were in a hurry to start making money. That's my opinion, I welcome yours.

Here we have a smartly run corporation making what many would call a grave error . . . putting all their eggs in one basket. It is obvious, at least to me, that something very bad is coming our way. My UID, or nickname, was chosen because I can relate to both hardware and software hackers (white-hat), having grown up as one during the mid 70's ... trading my first car, a Chevy Chevelle, for my first computer in 1976. I do not post here on /. to inflame, nor do I do so to try to sway others to my way of thinking. I do so to speak my mind, blow off steam if you will, as is afforded me as an honorably discharged American Veteran, and as a citizen. I take interest in finding others who share my opinion that our country, even the world, is going to hell in a handbasket. So please, don't insult. I am 45 years of age, not 16. Again, please don't insult because your view of the world differs from another. If you'll consult a psychologist about things personally important to people in general, you will find that everyone is right, from their own perspective. Whether my grasp of grammar grants me the ability to compose meaningful sentences or spell correctly, it is not an accurate indication of age. I couldn't care less about Wal-Mart. In my opinion, Wal-Mart has been eroding the fabric of our country for some time now, more so after the morally reprehensible Bill Clinton allowed trade with China. There is so much I could say about this subject, but instead I point you to a PBS NOVA documentary titled, Wal-Mart: Is It Good For America. It is very eye-opening. If you haven't already viewed it, I would encourage you to do so, then form your own opinion about it. Lastly, because my opinion without a doubt will differ from others, though one may possibly hold a degree in Geopolitics, that does not necessarily mean I am misinformed. Grant me the truth that I still may be correct, however unlikely. Thank you.
