Andrew Jamieson who works for the company in question posted to the mythtv list today and they have the full intention of being GPL compilent (if they're not already!).
According to the email, the developer sent a message to Issac (lead developer for Myth) and I'm assuming that they're going to be working together to make Myth a better product.
Don't listen to the 'tards, this is good for Mythtv.
The Windows users here at my work swear by Mascon. It's 50 bucks and really cool. Makes my installation of phpMyAdmin pale in comparison. They do make a linux version but it's nowhere near as good as the Win32 version (at least it wasn't last time I looked at it six months ago)
Yup, Nagios is pretty much what you're after. I had it up and monitoring all my servers in about a day.
The only advice I can give is take the time and read the docs. They are very good and understanding what's going on will save you loads of time down the road when you want to add stuff.
I just tried out this floppy distro called BBIagent and it's pretty easy to setup (GPL too!). You configure it through a java window and it's much cooler then my old linksys box. I hate to say it but one of the cool features is a live graph of my incoming/outgoing. There's also way more features.

PS. I'm not affiliated with them in anyway, blah blah blah...
I'm on the west coast so we were suffering from the california blackouts which we went through without too many problems.
But today at our colo facility which has battery backup and generators and can last for quite sometime without city power went down this afternoon. Why? An electrician turned off our breaker and shutdown our entire rack.
Marcy: "... that's as dumb as your idea for the 99 cent coin." Steve: "That wasn't dumb!!" Marcy: "What about tax?" Steve: *sigh* "You sould just like the poeple at the mint."
Is anyone else hoping that they bring the Empeg back to life? I bought the Mark IIa when SonicBlue shut down production for a mere 300 bucks and I can say that it's the greatest MP3 player on the planet. Its been several years since the player was released and there's still an active community that builds all kinds of crazy software for the stereo (partly due to the fact that it runs linux).
As someone who has subscribed to the Maximum PC magazine for *years*, I belive the preview (not review). Maximum PC is an magazine that prides itself on not letting companies influence their content. I have several issues where there's a huge double page ad for a product and then 10 pages later it's getting totally ripped up for being an inferior product. The last time I remember this happening was when they reviewed some new crappy Iomega drive.
So this preview is real and Nvidia did not allow them to publish their own benchmarks. I'm not buy either card anytime soon (I can get a whole new system for 400 bucks!), so I can wait for the real Maximum PC review...

The PHP manual is excellent, nothing new there. But you're right in that people who write PHP code suck at documentation. There are a couple of projects that are trying to make it easier though. I just found this one that uses the the same javadoc program to document PHP classes. Kinda cool, IMO.
The last time I asked about apache2 support on the #PHP IRC channel, someone told me that the apache2 api is still a moving target and that's why it's taking so long for php to be "stable" on apache2.
I can't wait to use Apache2 but I need PHP support to be stable before I can upgrade.
Sound Editing. Plain and simple. I have fast hard drives setup in a RAID configuration and I have a fast processor to do a lot of cleanup work on audio that I'm recording into FLAC.
This is all after I encoded my entire CD collection (~600 CD's) to FLAC. Now running that script to turn the FLAC's into MP3's or OGG's is faster then my old P3.
I was watching TV when one of the Northridge aftershocks hit and the lights were swaying and the anchors were freakin' out. A few seconds later, my living room started to roll up and down!! It only took a few seconds for that aftershock to travel 50 miles from Los Angeles all the way to Riverside.
My favorite IBM Ad is the one where all the "suits" are freaking out because all the servers are gone. Then some tech guy come in and says something like, "we only need that one now, it's gonna save us a ton of money" and points to an IBM box. Then the banner comes in and says, "IBM eServers running Linux".
I know! When there's already a bunch of people doing it over at MP3Car, why would you drop $1000+ on a MP3-only system?
When I first got interested in MP3 car players, CD-R models were still new (ie. sucked), and Empeg was the only cool model out. I signed up but by the time they allowed me to buy one, I realized that building one would be cheaper (and way more fun). If you're thinking about building a mp3car, then make sure you check out MP3car's Bulletin Board.
...I managed to get unlimited virtual hosting...
:)
Are you sure about that? Your site has a big ass "This Account Has Been Suspended" page on it.

Has anyone tried this speedup trick in other distro's? I doubt that it's Gentoo specific:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=176167
The gist of it is setting an environment var:
export FLASH_GTK_LIBRARY=libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
People in the Gentoo forum are claming massive speed increases when viewing flash. I'm about to go try it now...

Why would they even bother to attack a browser with such a low marketshare?
I use gkrellm2 (www.gkrellm.net) to monitor a handful of machines. It has a ton of stats that you can use and it's very helpful...

Even if EMI continues to bitch about the album, you'll always be able to see it live. He's even been added to the Coachella lineup.

Did you ever want to know if your phone number spelled out any words? I found this program on freshmeat one day...

A guy at work had the number 5-FAG-GET which was too damn funny since he was a total homophobe.

We've got one of those lame secret Santa things, so I'm just going to pick up the 2003 Despair calendar. With such gems as:

Yea, I've downloaded music and burned it to CD in the past month... but not music that's under RIAA control.
Yeah, that's pretty stupid. My website actually got a bunch of artists together and released a CD FOR people to burn on their recorders
