If you modify your own hardware, that is your issue, you will just invalidate the warranty, if you modify it to bypass software and especially on-line security then you will run fowl to the Software Licence, if you publish how to do this then you run fowl of the DCMA (at least in the USA)...

They want longer daylight evenings so that people can get out in the evening
Northern Ireland and Scotland, and possibly Wales will want to opt out, so any increased revenue or savings will vanish due to the admin overheads of 2 time zones in the UK...
Most people in the UK will argue that this is a good reason to get one timezone and stick to it and never have BST at all...we are already on the same time as Portugal and Ireland who are in the EU...so we are already on European time....

The companies and governments think this is a good idea.... but it will not actually cure any of the problems it claims to...
It will be a very bad idea for computer users, it will make the system more expensive and less flexible (no alternative OS, no self authored apps.... etc..) and you will not longer have full access to your own computer, but other people will..... a brilliant idea!
Untechnical Linux users do not run random scripts, use sudo, compile software, or often even use a command shell...
They install software from the package manager, if it isn't there then they know it's too much effort to install and so don't bother or call their techie to do it for them.....
Windows users have got very used to downloading software from websites, getting links in emails etc and being able to simply install that they do it without thinking...
I want a government that gives me and everyone else sensible rights and responsibilities and then enforces them
I don't want a government that protects employers but not employees (or vice versa), I don't want a government that protects free speech but only for some people....

They now have more efficient rocket motors, a more reliable launch system, and a 10 year head start on long duration space habitation.... the USA has the Shuttle which it is now (finally) getting rid of...

Solar sails, can accelerate to a useful speed, well if you consider faster than Voyager 1/2 a useful speed, yes they get no acceleration in interstellar space, but a spiral outward course can build up a very large velocity before the heliopause
