    Some interesting questions arise here. Where exactly is the line between aggregate and specific? Would it be OK if they used the photographs to texture the model? Would it depend on how many photographs were averaged to generate the texel?

    Grammar fail. This use is not possessive at all, it's simply the plural form of Jones: Joneses.

    this was mostly attributed to development flat-out refusing to even test compatibility with a beta product (Firefox 3 and IE8 come to mind from recent experience), since they didn't want to have to muck about with the code to get it to work, and then muck about with it even more when a given browser went from Beta to GA.

    Then they suck. That's how the game is played when you're a large company building a browser based application for wide release. They should have been testing on the alphas and betas, and had devs in the project forums or mailing lists to sort out issues. The GA release should just be a rubber stamp for testing, not the starting point for development.

    No doubt this research was funded by GE. They'd love to increase the efficiency of incandescent bulbs, while having them maintain their fragility and short lifespan. Thankfully it's coming too late to avoid the ban. Bring on the LEDs, and good riddance to the notion of light sources as consumable products.

    Adblock Plus is the real reason to use Firefox. The simple "url-substring matching from a static .ini file" of your 4th party patch to a 3rd party redistribution of Chrome does not compare.

    That was exactly my thought. I had high hopes when they release a basic but solid application in GTalk. I figured that after establishing a solid base they would start releasing new versions with more features on a regular basis. Instead it's unchanged after years. Chrome is the same thing, a solid base with few features. If history is any guide, that's all we'll ever see.

    In addition to joining the chorus that will suggest you use version control, I'll put in a suggestion to write a custom tool to view and make specific changes to the file. Multiple users editing *data* files by hand, with no validation, is silly.

    Wow, have you ever done a great job of illustrating that point.

    I have more than a passing interest in typography, but trust me, it takes years to learn about this stuff. I would suggest Slashdot leaves type related articles to Typophile.

    If you cared a whit about the subject as an art, you'd be happy to have it exposed to more people in such an interesting way. Frankly, I'm happy to have seen a really interesting article without having to risk visiting a site populated by assholes like yourself.
