  2. Kindle Features Kill Paperbacks on Amazon To Allow Book Lending On the Kindle · · Score: 1

I think this is a great move by amazon. A lot of people were upset with not being able to share books with friends this feature allows that to happen. The feature is very true to life if you lend a book to a friend you would want the book back and you would not be able to read the book since your friend had the book in his possession. I think features like this a long with great wireless support is going to kill paperbacks in years to come.

  3. Re:Open office != MS Office on Why Microsoft Is So Scared of OpenOffice · · Score: 1

I remember on Slashdot a while back there was a post on most people use only around 10% of the features that Microsoft Office has to offer. Open Office is targeted at those users and that market. People that just need a quick work document or a small spreadsheet Open Office is great for that and again its FREE.

  4. Environment Needs to be Considered on Linux To Take Over Microsoft In Enterprises · · Score: 1

I agree with everyone when they say that statistics can be tossed around and manipulated. The one thing this article does not talk about is environment variables. For example a web hosting company might run an all Linux environment. Where some company's might have run all windows for there infrastructure and just have a few Linux servers for web hosting and utility servers. I know Cisco and Juniper have dropped Windows support on the backend and went with Linux support for logging and traffic monitoring.

There company has had a few facebook group updates saying they have just moved to a new office and are unpacking. They also have that new registration piece that tells them how many active copies they have and how long they been active. They are my favorite distro.

Well I think there is a lot of reasons why people will not move off XP I have noticed Vista really scared people from upgrading. Now people are scared to upgrade because of all the issue with Vista. Plus hardware has not really progressed a lot as of late. The PC market has been slowing down a lot in favor of cell phones and tablets.

I agree Wordpress is pretty flexible I use it to run my blog the plug ins are endless and I am sure Microsoft could write there own custom plug ins if they wanted. I know a little PHP myself and I was able to build a few plug ins. This is a better idea for Microsoft why reinvent the wheel. Wordpress has a good reputation and its easy to install on any hosting platform.

  12. Paying for Convenience on Blockbuster Files For Bankruptcy · · Score: 1

Blockbuster is just like the mom and pop video stores they did not adapt with the time people will pay for convenience. Netflix does as well as it does because of streaming and door to door delivery of DVD'S. On demand is the same way I watch the movie and never have to return it in 24 it returns it self pretty much. Plus with the rising cost of fuel I will pay the extra dollar for on demand so I don't have to spend the 10 dollars in gas drive to just blockbuster. I can watch movies in all weather and not have to compete with driving in bad weather. These are a lot of the reasons why blockbuster is failing.

This could be a good thing for Novell VMware is financially stable and can help Novell with OES linux development. I think Suse is a great linux distro but needs to be developed better. Plus Novell is in need of better management there was a time when Novell was a head of Microsoft they have fallen behind in recent years.

  17. Linux Looking Like Windows on Making Ubuntu Look Like Windows 7 · · Score: 1

I thought this was a great idea. I myself being a big linux user and open source user like the Ubuntu distro. One thing that makes open source suffer is the difficulty of use. This idea would make Ubuntu look like Windows it would make the use easier on the users that just want to use the web, e-mail and word processing. This would also help elevate the scare of using something else besides Windows. I myself see enough Windows computers in a day and enjoy the different look and feel of Ubuntu. Buts its great to see what you can do with open source.
