The average user does not understand security and the same password for everything makes it convenient. The problem is if you get someones password and you can get to sites like Amazon or ebay where you can really cause issues. People should use different passwords but they feel that's to much to remember or they will leave a password list laying around. Either way it's not secure and people can get hacked.
I can’t be leave RIM is going to do this they never crumble to anyone. I guess like the article says this is a business move. This is where technology security and the finance department but heads and usually the finance department wins seen this many times in companies.
Yahoo is different type of market then Google or Bing. Yahoo does hosting and there email is much better then hotmail or gmail. They are also aimed at the entertainment market they sponsor a lot of events and do a lot with Hollywood. Plus they have features like flickr and yahoo news. I look at Yahoo as a search engine just aimed at a different market.
Oracle does not play around when it comes to lawsuits if I was Google I would be careful about this fight. Oracle usually wins a lot of there lawsuits. Oracle has been buying up a lot of open source products to hurt there competitors this is not the first time this will happen with Oracle not with the way they are buying up companies.
I can see technology companies doing this filing suit against technology that is being developed not even released to the public. Kind of like a Microsoft sewing Apple for a product not out yet saying it violates there pattens. Another scenario is Microsoft sewing Oracle for a piece of database code that's not out yet.
I like looking at old sci-fi movies and think 20 years ago this was impossible now we actually have that. I remember as a kid watching star trek and thinking that's would be so cool.
I think this might help them get a more accurate count of how many users have installed Ubuntu. Since its not a major load for a PC to send a ping this will not affect performance and no one will even notice this happening everyday.
This is why places like starbucks charge for there internet because if people have to pay they will think twice before sitting there for hours especially if the internet is being charged at and hourly rate. I personally love free wifi while I am enjoying my coffee but a lot of people do take advantage of this service at coffee shops. Table space is money considering free wifi is something the coffee shop is giving away for nothing and has to pay for out of there profit.
I really hate when regulations slow down the progression of great technology advances. That would be so great in NY to be on wifi in a cab. People could get work done on there commutes to places.
I know when I was in college like 5 years ago the only labs with Apples were the video design classes. I remember most of the students had windows computers but there was a small amount of students with the MAC's. I know I always stuck out with the Linux laptop some of your IT majors had linux laptops.
The true geek will not take the money. They respect open source and want to help the open source community. Plus it's fun to find holes in software. No to mention firefox is such a great browser why not try and make it better.
I think its defiantly nice that you have the freedom to jailbreak the phone if you want. Now websites like this are legitimate and people with jailbroken Iphones don't have to hide them.
This is another example of great management by Oracle. They want to sell a server product so they team with HP and Dell this is a great move. This idea did wonders for Red Hat and Suse I hope it does the same for Oracle. Plus since HP and Dell already ship Linux I am sure they will be happy to ship Unix.
It's nice to have a day you are appreciated. Next time you send that e-mail, save that document or IM your friend please remember all the hard work that goes into those services.
I agree with this Microsoft needs to really rethink there mobile market strategies and ideas. They have the market in the OS but they have yet to make a dent in the mobile industry this is surprising for a company that has the resources and the finances to do lots of RND.
Oracle is know for there management they know what they are going to do with these companies before they buy them. There management is aggressive and they know what the mission statement and vision is for the company. This is the reason for Oracle success plus there development of open source products and improvement of these products has been legendary over the years.
I agree part of the problem is the Credit Card company gives you the headache of getting the money back. I think more people would fight for there money back if the credit card companies were more understanding to modern day situations.
Let’s see how this goes this brings a very big privacy and security factor into play. I can see small burrows and local entities using these services. The large government entities that need to be secure and have a lot of sensitive data not so much.
I agree lets hope ad block has an update that will block these. I mean Google is really getting tougher and tougher with there target advertising. They have also found ways around ad blockers. I like the target advertising for my blog lets me get the right readers but at times the target advertising can also be a pain while surfing.
Well I think this is good for people that want to use there phones on other carriers. The only thing this has the potential to make the phone unstable or have a security vulnerability. I think if you want to jailbreak the phone be prepared for the consequences. Not to mention Apple might not give you support because you jail broke the phone. You could always fall back on the forums. But at least now its legal to do this.

I agree ubuntu is the best distro around thanks Murdock.

I loved 3D pinball this saved me from boredom during my 4th period computer 101 intro to programming class.

The Mac Pro is so nice buy the price is way to high the track pad is a nice touch.
your right this is not news because a lot of data about this stuff is fake or planted so no one knows the real data since torrents are illegal.
