    1. Forms. Entering text in a TEXTAREA has been continually troublesome, release after release. Sometimes you'll hit the space bar, but the cursor won't move until you type a letter. Sometimes you get this insipid "jumping text", as the scrollbar on the righthand side continually decides to draw and redraw each time there is a keystroke. From a user's perspective, this is a terrible oversight

    2. Printing has, at least on linux, been a sorry state of affairs, for a long time, up through 0.9.8. I have deep worries that 1.0 is going to get released without fully functioning print capability, and that just seems asanine.

    OTHER THAN THAT --

I've been extremely happy with Moz, and have been using it in a near exclusive manner (FSCK YOU, CapitalOne.com) for many releases now.

Although it may be a bit premature, here's a hearty congrats to the Mozilla team. Looking forward to 1.0

It's retroactive, only for those who have already applied, before the current law went into effect. It's true, they say they are going to change things again, in June, but there are no real specifics yet.

Oops, forgot the part regarding the job offer.

Good luck getting a job offer, right now. Jobs, especially tech jobs, are tight right now, and they have to offer those jobs to qualified canadian residents first, before you get the green light. Nevermind the sponsorship issues.

Yes; But have you looked at the point system itself? I have, and I've been considering canadian immigration for some time now, until the new laws were passed. Unless you have a job offer already (which often won't happen unless you can get in already...) and/or have family there, you won't qualify

The current system requires you score at least 80 points on the assessment. I currently score 71, with maximum points for age and for work experience in my job field. Having a bachelor's degree, I get 20/25 possible points, and speaking fluently in one of Canada's official languages (English), but not the other, I get 16/20.

Now, without a job offer, or family there, the only way I could reach 80 would be if I had a Masters Degree and spoke fluent French as a second language. And even then, 80 points is just a "maybe".

Basically, the current system is very heavily weighted towards having existing connections in Canada already.

    More information.
    I stand by my claim.

  16. A very curious behaviour.... on Google Allows Sponsored Rankings...In Ads · · Score: 3, Interesting

    from the article:
Popular online search engine maker Google Inc. is introducing a new program that allows Web sites to be displayed more prominently by paying more money - an advertising-driven system derided by critics as an invitation to deceptive business practices.

Remember, the deceptive business practise could be on either side -- Google or the advertiser.

About a week ago, I was looking for a good deal on a pair of quality Vasque Sundowners. In searching for that, two coloured ads appeared above my search results, each offering the "best selection" in Vasque footwear.

The only thing is, one of them had no Vasque anything in stock.

Strangely enough, I just did the same search to try and prove my point, but only the REI ad appears anymore; The two-bit footwear company no longer has an ad up there. Now, this might well mean that their ad rotation is over, but I found it interesting nonetheless.

On that note, how hard would it be to make a search engine smart (ethical?) enough to search a website to assure that the keywords people bought have something to do with the products on their site? Or is that just counterproductive to a coherent business model?
