    Not trying to flame you or convert you. Just gonna hit your points.

    Just as Apple may have had problems with hardware, MS has had even more problems with software.

    Support? Consumer Reports gives Apple one of the best ratings for support.

    personal opinion 10.2 didn't feel sluggish to me and 10.3 feels just damn zippy.

    nothing against your using Win XP. Have fun with that. But, Apple isn't a bad idea.

    The caps will be on Pepsi, Sierra Mist and one other that I can't recall. This was all announced back at WWDC last July.

    I only mention that we all knew about Pepsi and the tie-in cause it seems a lot of folks thought this was news, or some sort of confirmation. Mentioning it at MWSF was just a reminder.

    That was something I missed to when I switched to OS X. But, now with Expose I never even think about it. It's not uncommon that I have 3 images open in Photoshop, Safari, BBedit, iTunes, and two conversations in iChat all full open and I just flit back and forth with Expose.

    Agreed, but regarding switching to an iBook (I have as well) the amount of time I spend fixing problems has gone down immensely. OS X isn't holier than thou (I just had to relaunch the Finder) but if something does go screwy it doesn't take me half a day to fix it. Force quitting an app isn't the day-ending event that a blue screen can be.

    Viewsonic makes a very nice one that I use. Plug monitor into box, box into computer, ps2/gamecube/xbox into box, switch with handy remote. I've never been happy with the resolution on tv tunder cards. if you're dead set on one anything from wintv is fine I suppose. Viewsonic VB50HRTV

    my thinking, either this guy is trying to blow smoke up our ass and give us a little false self importance, or he honestly thinks we have to know how to code in order to use a word processor. nonsense.

    nuts and bolts are a certain way. so we made a tool to operate on them that matches both the object being worked on and the hand that guides the operation. you don't need to understand physics to understand that when you turn a wrench one way the bolt will loosen and the other, tighten.

    0s and 1s are a certain way. so we make a tool to operate on them that matches the object being worked and the hands thay guide the operation. you don't need to understand C to use a word processor. perhaps we just haven't built the right tool yet.

    It took till Jefferson to come up with a better freaking plow and we'd been plowing fields since we left the hunt.

    Battery? I get 8 hours easy, sometimes more on a 3G iPod.
    Cost? I work at McDonalds. If I can afford one so can you.
    Moving Parts? Again, I work at McDonalds. If that isn't a stress test for jiggling and wiggling I don't know one. Never had a skip.

    iTunes only? Um, and?

    oddly enough I'm not outraged. Sorry. I was too busy being outraged about the inability of the VDOT to properly grade a 2 mile section of I-64. In future if you wish to tax my ability to be outraged I suggest you try to get yourself penciled in early as these days I tend to get outraged one event at a time and I like to focus.

    Well, if you used iTunes it would take you far less time than your whole life to put in your id3 tags. Also, if you ripped with iTunes all of that would sort out on its own. course, if you didn't rip all your sounds that would mean you stole them and then its your karma you should worry about. I don't think you did that though. Why on earth would you sort by directory in the first place though? That makes terribly little sense.

    Well, maybe that's because it's not an iPod and it's not trying to be an iPod! It's an MP3 player, and it's different than iPod.

    I think there is the problem with your theory. they are in fact trying to be an iPod. the iPod is the number one mp3 player on the market. Are you saying that these other fellows don't want to be number 1? They'll settle for being number 4?

    I agree it would be nice but I can understand Apple's position on it. And brother I totally understand about the disc swapping. My Panther install would have been done ten minutes sooner if I didn't have to keep trying to gently remove the disc from its magic sleeve of +2 protection.

    Install discs won't be offered on DVD until more people upgrade to machines with DVD drives. Recall that there are still Macs out there that don't have a DVD drive that were being sold by Apple only a few months ago. New systems that include a DVD drive come with a single DVD restore disk.
