    Gas prices are up. Economy is in the stinker. I can't remember the last vacation I took. Saving every penny to make those payments. Yea, I'm gonna buy a new dvd player & a new tv just so I can perceive better quality slightly.

    How about fixing the roof? Or saving for my kids' college funds? That's why we Americans are pressured put everything on credit! So we can buy the latest n' greatest!

    Yea, right. I have no need for this currently. All it will do is enhance how I waste my time. I can do that with weed or a beer instead of being able to count the blemishes on some football player's neck.

    100 situps
    50 pushups
    50 pullups

    in the morning for two reasons, 1 to get it out of the way & 2 for stamina/endurance purposes.

    I also have a treadmill in my living room and some free-weights next to my couch. If I'm ever not doing anything (watching the boob tube) I'm either pumping iron or on the treadmill.

    I was ~150 all my life until my wife & I started having kids then I BALLOONED up to 210. I was a bit lean @150 and round @210. These days I'm at my perfect weight, 165, I look great and I've gained TONS of self-confidence from the way I look.

    If you have a bad credit rating, you aren't good at handling your personal finances, so why would you be any better handling your duties at work? ( not that i agree, but that is the thinking, and why they ask )

    That certainly is their misguided thinking, isn't it? All the doctors I know, they are terrible at maintaining their health. I know accountants who are terrible at managing their money. Lots of developers have the worst-organized environment I've seen in their home.

    People in all the groups above OTOH have given me some great advice, guidance and care despite their personal inabilities they are great at what they do.

    And this health score thing is definately NOT the answer. Even people in good health would really rather not let additional people know they had a vasectemy, eh?

    Agreed. This sort of thing will make the black-market health care industry explode. Plenty of people for various legit and not-so-much reasons wouldn't want people to know they've had this or that surgery or treatment.

    A used cd store near me does that, it works quite well for them. I brought them 15 cds which all produced several errors in EAC along with terrible AccurateRip results to see what they could do. They fixed EVERY SINGLE CD, errors removed in EAC and the CRCs each matched no less than 20 in AccurateRip.

    If I ever get the balls I will do the same :)

    No, it's not. Also cdparanoia has a well-documented CD-ROM caching issue which it currently does not defeat making the rips unreliable at best.

    Interesting. This is more a comment on the case rather than a reply but as reprehensible and unethical as his actions were, I don't think he broke any laws with his disclosure. Did any of his victims include a privacy notice along with their email replies to his CL ad? If this person was transmitting a copyrighted picture, do they have expressed consent? I'm pretty sure JF's actions fall under fair use as he was publicly displaying the victim's pictures under the guise of a "sociological case study". That said I'm surprised that with as many people he hurt that no one's taken matters into their own hands.

    Hopefully I won't get charged, I did have a microbiology class at some point, and since they apperantly don't use evidence, that puts me on a list probably.

    I'm a big fan of the band Anthrax... hopefully myself & other fans won't be considered "persons of interest".

    Shouldn't they confirm through investigative work that he did in fact commit these crimes rather than just assume since they were about to file charges & that he "committed suicide" that he did it? IT seems like poor reasoning on anyone's part to just assume this is the logical conclusion just because he offed himself before shit hit the fan. What if the suicide was for some completely different reason? Lots of people commit suicide for reasons other than legal troubles.

    Yes, because it is so f'ing difficult to turn on a computer, click on the little icon, select the wireless network to connect to and then enter the password. So so difficult. I had better tell my computer-phobe in-laws that they need to stop using their Linux laptop which a guy on the internets says is impossible.

    That statement is so laden with sarcasm, out of touch with the general public tat either you are just trying to agitate people or are truly clueless to the lack of patience and harsh reality the the user-friendliness of Linux to the worldwide general public is at best laughable. The word impossible was not only absent from my post but is inflammatory on your part but then, I've had better luck getting wireless on Linux to run than convincing zealots on the internet who refuse to see things for what they are rather than some disheveled maniac mathematician's rhetoric.

    I can't imagine my mom wanting to shell out money over and over to Microsoft a la subscription just to play solitaire, check her email and play flash games, can you envision your parents wanting to do this?

    Furthermore, I can't imagine my mom wanting to bother trying to set up wireless in ANY Linux distro, can you envision your grandparents doing so? My mom will likely buy an Apple, my sister & her husband will buy an Apple, everyone I know will by one instead of wanting to put up with another monthly bill. Really. Steve Jobs marketing machine will win this one.

    I don't know much about fixing education but I DO know this...

    I have a friend, she is a 9th grade English teacher in a public school in Tampa. She says the kids regularly curse at her, etc, etc... and she can't do squat to enforce civility in her class or else she'll be labeled a racist or some other nonsense term.

    Then she goes on to complain about how her school is under-funded, etc...

    The problem ISN'T funding, it's maintaining an environment that promotes learning, something that we as Americans, are too PC to do let we step on some poor asshole's toes. Our schools need to be tougher & to hell with the kids who's parents can't/won't teach their children to respect the rules of the classroom. Sure, it's a shame, sure these "ruffians" don't/never had a chance, oh fucking well, because of a few self-destructive twats you're going to sacrifice the willing few by lowering the bar?

    Those who would are selling out our species by pandering to the lowest common denominator and are intensifying the problem.

    I didn't have any hard time learning science in school, neither did my schoolmates, it was your typical public school and our teachers weren't afraid to discipline or throw a kid out if he/she was disrupting the class.

    I agree. I'm not going to some shitty movie theater to see the damn movie & I'm not downloading some crappy cam of it either. The movie is overexposed (as are most) and I've seen the whole film in HD previews on my tv.

    I agree. Especially with the industry becoming more commoditized, developers and IT staff are a necessary evil these days, like the plumber or the electrician. Maybe the article means it will be harder for shitty IT staff to get work :)

    The people at NASA have done some great things in the past so I'm not knocking them too hard but does anyone else get the feeling that they're being run by a bunch of career bureaucrats more interested in securing their pension rather than space exploration?

    I think the whole idea of NASA needs to be scrapped and redesigned from the ground up.

    Actually I gotta agree with you a little bit there. I classify myself as a Libertarian but most Libertarians these days are really just Republicans in a Libertarians clothing... but I'm not gonna jump ship because someone's perverted the name. Kind of like I'll always consider myself a metalhead even though nu-metal has pretty much ruined it :)
