If CA Taxes work like they do in NY (I'm was a tax auditor) I still don't get why they folded.
How it works in NY. Let's say the average county in NY is 8% (it's all over from 7 to 9), 4% goes to the state right away. The other % (besides NYC) goes to the county, in NYC the next 4% (at least it used to be 8.75) goes to the city,.75% goes to the MTA or something like that.
So let's say the county is giving back 90% to Amazon, but that's only 3.6% going back to Amazon out of the 8%. And the county is only keeping.4%. Unless they have a deal with the state, which I doubt.
Whether you get chicken pox from another person or shot, it's still the same virus. Except the vaccine virus is already dead, so it's harmless. I don't know why you would be opposed to doing it.
BTW thanks for the reminder. I need to get my adult vaccinations. (It's been 20 years since last time.)
Apposed to having to get boosters later on. And some people, even if taught to go to Doctor, go all the time as kids, doesn't as an adult (my sister for one).
We were just discussing if we wanted them to get Cpox as kids for lifetime immunity, or vaccines with boosters later on.
Yea I got my boosters at 19 I think. I can't remember, should check that out I guess. 33 now.
I can't speak to whooping cough. However, I did have some concerns with the CPox vaccines when I got my kids vaccinated (daughter is5, son is almost 4).
From what I was informed, they will need to be re-vaccinated later in life. Cpox is more deadly to adults then kids. Most times once you get Cpox as a kid, your immune for life, and if you do get it a second time it's much milder.
So I did debate doing a Cpox party type thing with my wife, before we just decided to get them both the Cpox, but it was a tougher decision then any of the other vaccines (in fact only vaccine we talked about, my wife tends to listen to dr's more then playboy pinup's).
That said, my son did contract Cpox even with the vaccine, although it was very mild. Just have to set up reminders when they are adults to get re-vaccinated.
Hadn't had my caffeine yet. Normally I can't stand people misspelling words (even in MMO's), but don't say anything, just a pet peeve. When I noticed it, was already submitted and no edit button.
I work in a place that gets many calls related to phishing scams. You would not believe how many people argue with you on the legitness of the letter, they just don't understand why the money hasn't come to them yet. I don't believe in the past 5 years I've been here, the volume has decreased. Hasn't increased either, it tends to be steady every year.
My own parents were hit with a rental scam (even though I had told them always ask me first about anything fishy). It was hey we'll sign contract, here's money order, oh crap we sent you too much, can you send the difference back. Lost $500, but learned a lesson and changed how they do rental agreements as a result.
So 1 fish is out of the sea, but unfortunately with billions of people on the planet, there are plenty suckers out there. Also, many of these scams appeal to the get rich quick mentality of people. I mean how come other scams can keep working unless people have this need that "maybe this is the time this works and I can stop working or afford ".
To people thinking that every generation will get more computer savvy and this will go away, i tend to disagree. Just because a generation is tech savvy doesn't mean they won't fall for the temptation to make money quick, even if it does sound too good to be true.
The whole excuse of "when I was little we didn't have all these regulations" is total BS. I especially love the "we didn't were seat belts or have car seats, and look I survived." No shit, if you were in a high speed accident, you would have dead or had serious injuries and likely would not be here to say that crap. Does everyone get into that type of accident? - No, but enough, and the injuries are so severe that prevention is the best option.
I'm not against Seat Belts, and wear mine even in back seats even tho not required too. However, I would prefer it was an option (same with helmets and motorcycles) rather then limit even more personal choice.
If my choices aren't going to harm someone else (leaving out the fact about family, etc. or how about it's more likely that someone not wearing a seat belt in the back could kill someone in the front from head to head collision) then why do I need to be told what to do?
So you were there and witnessed everything?
He may be a murderer, he may be guilty of manslaughter, or maybe he's not guilty and it was actual self defense. I would say 99%+ here on slashdot don't have all the facts.
And if you just think because he killed that 17 year old man (not kid BTW, 6'3" 170 or something) regardless of circumstances, he's a murderer, well I strongly disagree. I'm all for stand your ground laws. My state, they want you to run away, by then I'd prolly be dead if my life was in danger.
I notice an Ad tag on this story. Can I filter so I can't see these anymore?
I come here for the content, not the adds. However, to support y'all I don't hide the "official" adds. However, if these slashvertisements keep up, I may have to rethink that.
I like T-Mobile CS. But service in my home area is spotty at best and some of the places I go non existant. (One reason I like them is free Wi-Fi calling for home is awesome) But most of those places have good AT&T reception. Was almost hoping in a service way the deal went through but in CS way it didn't.
I was hoping the failed deal would allow all T-Mobile access to AT&T in all area's, not just select few area's that AT&T/Tmobile agreements allow. (The one area I know of TMobile recept is fine but a deal exists. But in a few others Tmobile recept is terrible, AT&T is fine but no deal there).
Oh well. I'll stick with them for now. See how it is when this stuff starts rolling out in 2013. Thing is since i'm 10 miles from Albany NY, i get 4g 5 miles from my house. Just wish they could add another tower in my area.
From the article:
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, though: if OpenCV gets OpenCL support, then computer vision people could do GPGPU without needing the proprietary drivers.
Why is it so wrong to use the proprietary drivers? I mean don't we want companies to write drivers for linux for their hardware. NVIDIA does this and has for many many years. Why are you so eager to drop the proprietary drivers when they work so well in linux?
It's one reason I always buy NVIDIA, even in my Windows machines. Because they support linux with drivers. I mean even my old NVIDIA cards running my servers still work. Sure newer drivers don't work, but old drivers do and work very well. I just don't understand the hate towards the proprietary drivers from NVIDIA. I can't tell you how many times in previous years trying to get wireless nic cards, modem cards, or other kinds of expansion cards to work in Linux properly. But with NVIDIA GPU's they just work. Why is that so wrong?
Add SUNY system in NY:
http://www.esc.edu/
Got my whole 4 degree, sure there were "groups" 2 nights a week 1hr per night for certain types of classes, but 90% were online. And I got a SUNY degree, same one someone gets from the Physical SUNY schools.
Wish I had mod points.
I love Steam. Mid week deals on a few year old games for like $3-$8 (and sometimes 2-3 for that $8-12). And even newer games that go on sale. I know alot of people decry DRM, but Once I get it downloaded I can go offline, the steam client has small footprint, and I like it. Especially since I'm in the camp that media companies aren't going to give up on DRM, so the least intrusive that allows me easy access to many games, with a stable/small client I'm ok with.
I work 9 out of 10. I do have the option as a whole for 8 out of 10, but my Boss wanted to start with 9 out of 10 to see how it works. After 3 months, she's agreed to let me keep 9 out of 10 but not go to 8. 8 is just 9.375-10 hrs per day (depends 37.5 to 40) and for 9, i work 40 hours the 5 day week, 35hours the 4 day week. It's awesome.
It is?
I use the Overcome Mod on my Galaxy Tab and love it. Many others also use this mod. To me Android isn't stock per say, but a collection of different Mod's that give owners of phones/tablets the best choice for themselves.
It says:
Sorry right clicking is disabled, please respect copyright.
WTF? really lady? You didn't with that photo and go on some crazy rant. I can't even read some of what she writes without just rolling my eyes.

It's my go to when TPB drops.
Wish I had points to mod you up more. I've been bombarded with Ron Paul/Dudley Brown/etc after signing that crap. So annoying.

Didn't I read where a couple went after a bank who they had sued over something, they won and won their $2.5k legal fee's. So the bank after months didn't pay, so they showed up at a local branch with deputies/moving trucks to seize the property. Yea just found it, bank of america: http://www.winknews.com/Local-Florida/2011-06-03/Tables-Turn-Deputies-and-movers-show-up-at-bank-to-seize-property-for-homeowner- So yeah, go back to the court after a few months and get permission to go after anything.
Um if you buy from Steam it doesn't happen. At least any of the 50+ I've gotten through Steam over the years.
Wish I had mod points. I love Steam. Mid week deals on a few year old games for like $3-$8 (and sometimes 2-3 for that $8-12). And even newer games that go on sale.
