    leetkey can encrypt and decrypt textareas with AES and DES (and rot13!) and a bunch of other features that are more or less useful like encoding/decoding binary numbers to ASCII

    c++ is more strict regarding castings. of course some other things have changed in c99 as well (like variable length arrays (at least i think so))

    should probably clarify a bit.
    what i meant is pedophiles obviously do it because they get something out if it but is what they get off on really hurting (generally) the children? I admit i don't know much of pedophiles but the pedophiles on 4chan seem to be pretty nice people. Of course there are all kinds of people (and pedophiles presumably) so they may be anomalies

    child abusers may take pleasure in the act of abusing children and it certainly is harmful to the children but what makes you say it is because they like to harm them?

    besides pedophile != child abuser

    getting rid of patents completely probably isn't a good idea. There would still be a monopoly for a time before the thing could be reversed engineered and there would probably be a lot of time and money spent on reverse engineering (of course this might not entirely be a waste).

    shorter terms and less patents granted are the answer I believe

    don't know if this is a stupid idea or not but how hard would be it be to set how trusted a particular application is? Like if you for example have installed a new game you could right click and select "trusted". And maybe if you downloaded a cd-key generator you could set it to "utrusted" and let the antivirusprogram have a closer look at it and maybe run it in a virtual machine.
    Doing this might lighten the antivirus programs load a bit
    just a thought

    wow! I'm really excited about Obama becoming president now. I really believe that he can make a difference although 8 years is too short time to undo all the damage that has been done by Bush. To bad i can't vote for him though (I live in Sweden).

    I'll probably never get how you can lump the moon hoax conspiracy with the 9/11 conspiracy. I'm not saying that I'm convinced 9/11 was orchestrated by the US government but it's undeniable that there are a lot of fishy details regarding 9/11 like the pentagon no plane theory and the fact that everything except pentagon looked like controlled demolitions. I just want an explanation and so far the most credible ones, believe it or not, are the conspiracy theories (IMHO).
