even better to prevent/tmp file leakage is to use a fucking ram disk as I do (Radeon Ramdisk) with 4GB and yes I've moved all of the fucking/temp/tmp and such from the HD to the god damn thing along with the fucking browser cache with IE & FF both using it. Used the software to create a ramdisk image file and mount it but never renew the damn thing. Works great.
It also helps that I've turned off the fucking Memory Dump in Windows along with the fucking swap file (I've got 16GB so don't need it). Now if I could get a fucking live DVD image for Windows with all of my software, I'd be a happy camper. Probably easier to use Linux and build the damn thing and use flash drives for persistence.
and Windows Media Player is a PoS now. Unstable, crashes, hogs the CPU while indexing images instead of music and videos. Looks through the entire system for files that it's supposed to play and hands that info to MS/RIAA/MPAAA so you can get those nice Infringement notices. Thankfully, it's no longer part of Win8-Pro and it's unavailable so I'm using foobar2000 and VLC with Irfan View for images.
Seeing as how Win8 does not have a proper music/media player, I had to install Foobar2000/VLC to handle those files plus Irfan View as my image viewer. I also added Fox-it Reader and set it as my default printer (don't have one and PDF is fine).
I was using Netscape in WFW 3.11 so I never considered IE to be a useable browser. IE 5 worked fine then I moved to Firefox 1 when it was released and have been using Firefox since.
strange that you're marked insightful as I just upgraded a Win7-64 box to Win8 and 8.1 and you know what, I actually find the fucking thing to be quite usable. Sure Metro slaps you to begin with but once you clear out all the pre-loaded crap that MS includes making me ask "Why did I buy a fucking disk to do clean installs?" MS has gotten as bad as Acer/HP/Dell/Gateway in regards to all of the preloaded shit. It's disgusting.
Other then the preload issues, I'm finding 8.1 to be quite usable and the tweaks to turn off the upper right hot-corner (doesn't activate the fucking charm bar now when I go close) plus the rt-clk context menu for the start button really has things working nicely. Hell I've discovered that it will actually run much of my older software that Vista/Win7 refused to run (even the 32bit versions) so I'm happy with it and yes, I'm actually using a few metro apps (free games mainly) and I'm happy with things.
The Bay and Sacromento Area of California requires new construction to have special wired Smoke detectors - FTFY
I live in So.Cal and there is absolutely nothing in our building codes about Smoke Detectors needing to be hard wired in new construction unless it's commercial (Hotels/Office/Wharehouse) is the main break point. Hell we don't even require smoke detectors in homes by law unless they're rental properties. Otherwise, California at least still feels you're on your own in that regards.
It's the easiest solution and works across all of Google if you simply check the god damn box on the profile page to disable listing/indexing your gmail addy by Google and if you didn't do it during the initial setup or soon after Google gave us the dashboard, you deserve what you get
God damn posting filter - saying I'd posted 47 minutes ago when trying for AC -/. is going to the nuking cockroaches
it's even better to simply have one of the companies build you a god damn android tablet that's already rooted since a large company could then get exactly what they want for a pretty reasonable price. Hell at that point, they'd have a fully customized version of droid that doesn't talk to the Google Mothership.
WTF is Schemer? Even the god damn article doesn't tell me and if I don't know WTF it is, how does anyone else? Just another effen Google tool that nobody was told about being shut down because nobody used it. Chicken and Egg Issue. You don't tell folks about it so nobody fucking uses it. Shut it down.
Google could save lots of time/effort/PR by simply not starting these many apps/tools that they keep shutting down because they're not telling anyone about them.
this was exactly how I took a spam account away from a fucking spammer though I think it may have been facebook using reverse psycology on me. Got tired of all the spam about posts to my effen wall so I recovered the damn pw and changes settings. Now I get nothing from them in my gmail account as I don't care for facebook
and have hard copy of the Password in a fireproof safe at home. This way if I'm hit by the bus, struck by Lighting or any other reason, so long as I'm able to function, I can recover all of my passwords.
Hell I've been using a password safe for a decade - started with a freebie from PC Mag called Passes (included the source code) but I've replaced it with Passkeeper due to cross platform support so I haven't written anything but a single PW down in a decade.
What I've been looking for is a god damn HUD system using NIR (Near Infra Red). Very similar to the FLIR setups but does't require the god damn Cryogenic Co2 to function. Very useful in rain/sleet/snow and fog because the idiot in front of you is hotter then the background. same as for those fucking dear and what not. With a HUD system, they stand out quite nicely so you're much safer. Of course they don't do a damn bit of good reading road signs (Curve ahead reduce speed to 20MPH) as they tend to be as cold as the rest of the air. That's where the refective coatings make a big difference.
Several Luxury cars had such a system available and if I were in the market, it's the one thing I'd want over damn near any other option due to the weather/nightime safety improvement.
and this is exactly why I use a god damn hosts file to block most of the fucking advertisers. It's not perfect by a long shot but it certainly helps prevent much of the problem by blocking any connection to known ad-servers like Yahoo's that can and will be compromised. Hell even Doubleclick has served malware in the past and I've blocked them for over a decade in the hosts file (Remember those god damn "Punch the Monkey" ads?) that's what got me started on using the hosts file and the really nice thing about it is the solution is cross platform. I've used it on Linux and Windows and even gave a copy to a friend using a Mac. Worked like a charm for them.
Where in hell is APK when you need him? Lazy fucking bum. Get back to work and earn your money.
Having been diagnosed with ADHD in the 2nd grade, I really prefer these self paced courses because they suit my needs and I can be as anti-social as wanted. Yes I can be a real a** about things but I also enjoy learning new stuff but when real life issues such as diabetes prevents me from attending or my ADHD flares up and I'm not able to focus in a formal class, things go the crapper in a hurry and I loose interest.
Recently, I purchase one of those educational software kits for math and it's proving to be useful as I'm able to go at my own pace and when my concentration goes to hell, I can come back and revisit things again and again until I do get it and that's the same benefit a MOOC offers to me. Sure I may never complete the damn course but I'm at least taking the time to excersise my poor little brain instead of sitting in front of the Idiot Tube as so many do that it's not pitiful only because it's so fucking common.
Asimov's Foundation Series Heinlens "Time Enough for Love" The Moon is a Harh Mistress Frank Herber "The White Plague" Damn near anything by Frederick Pohl "Mote in Gods Eye" All of the "Executioner Series - Mack Bolan" James P. Based on your statement, then I can legally kill you because it's my Moral and Religious Obligation to do so as you are not a believer and we have declared Jihad against you infidel dogs. Stand up and die you infidel dog of a Citizen. You don't deserve to live and I'm going to ensure that you don't because you do not believe as I do, don't go to my Mosk and are not of my race/nationality.
skydrive offers the same benefits as dropbox when multiple computers are involved. I've been using both for a while and finally have things configured so that OneNote uses the skydrive for the main save location and dropbox as the backup location. Very nice as it means I can access them from my laptop w/o having to remember to copy them over due to the auto-sync
Had to reinstall my desktop recently and once skydrive and dropbox were installed, did a custom install of Office to configure it for the notebooks. Quick and painless restoration (Installed Steam Client and it broke winupdate).
As a business owner using PXE to boot our smart clients (no local storage), I say "Fuck Network Transparency" it's not a consideration. What I need is a Windowing system that's 30-50 percent smaller then what X offers today due to local bandwidth needs.
We switched to the PXE setup in order for single sign-on and regulatory reasons. It simplifies things having everything within our control (no local storage means only have to backup a single system - storage server). It also means less employee downtime when a computer dies for any reason. Simply move/swap in a replacement and they've only lost a few minutes of work. Yes it was a PITA getting shit setup but now that it works, we're damn happy though as stated, give us something that's 30-50 percent smaller and faster and we'd be even happier since we would then be able to add employees instead of spending on LAN upgrades to support it.
As a Gentoo user, I call BS because I use Alsa and foget Pulse/Jack/Flavor of the Month as it does audio mixing and has for over 5 years (hell I was using Alsa and mixing inputs in 2003. Sylpheed could play its notification sound while I had music playing in the background while working on an Open Office doc in fluxbox. Didn't have to many problems once it was setup.
As someone else stated, the god damn cavemen have taken over and created all sorts of shite that isn't compatible. Simply put, smack em down hard, throw away their crap and take whats good and include it in Alsa instead of reinventing the fucking wheel! Make alsa do what you want instead of insisting they're idiots but no, it's the same fucking "Lone Wolf" syndrome that seems to infect developers and companies - Not Invented Here. Shoot them and put them out of our misery right now and start over.
If a sales person jumped me as soon as I walked in the door, they'd be going out same door with broken Limbs for Assualt. If they had a weapon when I walked in and did that, they'd be going out the door to be placed in a body bag with me fully justified
I hate to say it, but the choices they made and tried to justify are absolutely shit. First off, the board doesn't suppport the selected CPU, meaning it probably wont even boot. Strike 1.
Strike 2 is the memory selected. It's not ECC or even the right amount.
From what the article title indicates, I expected them to show the parts to match the stated specs of the new Mac Pro but no, they screwed the pooch from the beginning for an Epic Failure.
For the rest of the hardware, I didn't bother as you have lots of choices. On the PSU front, I'd probably go with a Seasonic over the Silverstone. Case would be a full tower. Hell I want as many drive bays as possible and would use a pair of 64GB SLC SSD's in RAID 1 as the boot with the rest of the storage being the new 4TB Seagate drives - max the fucking case out as the drives are only $200 ea.
Add in a DVD drive for software installation (who bothers with that anymore when a flash drive is faster). Don't foget a Model-M keyboard or equalivent and a good mouse. Then there's the monitor and your good to go. Ballpark estimate is about the same if you go with some nice monitors (4K units with IPS panels).
Worse, XP supports legacy 16 and 8 bit stuff, which is far more insecure than a rational 32 bit system.
Hell Win7-64 supports 16bit Win95 software. What it doesn't support is the god damn 16bit installer but seeing as how that's an expansion pack to the game, I don't have a problem simply copying over the files to the folder and replacing the game engine. I've even been able to install the game engine update as it's a true 32bit app, not some borked/braindamaged 16bit installer. For those interested, game is Total Annihilation and the Expansions are the Core Contingency and Battle Tactics (Core Contingency uses the fucking 16bit installer and was released well after Win98 was available).

No but then you simply can't intercept Whisker Lasers easily. You need to get a stealthed Recon-drone in the beam to do so.
Was that 1325 bucks Antelope or White Tail bucks. You also forgot the big problem of what to smoke em with - Hickory or Yew.

Closest I've found is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182336 which is an ATX workstation/server board that supports (Certified List) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147307&ignorebbr=1 - these are 16GB sticks, so 4 of them matches the amount the Mac Pro has so you now have a size.
