I recently went back & read all my archives from when I first started my site. I realized I started at just about the time my wife left me. I pretty much came to the conclusion that it must have been some kind of therapy for me, since I moved from that to posting things I think are fun or interesting.
What's really sad is that I just recently found out what a blog was, and about this huge community. Sad, because I've been running a blog for over a year, and didn't even know it:)
I mainly started the site so friends & family could keep up with what's going on in my life, without actually having to converse with them. Now that I think about it, that's pretty sad, too.
IAAI(I am an idiot), but I'm pretty sure I read that in some places if you contest it, they'll drop the charges. I'm assuming it's because you can't really cross-examine a machine.
There's one of these on I40 on my ride home from work, but it displays the speed (which flashes if you go over 45). The funniest thing is the placement. It's right before a bunch of extensive roadwork, and most of the time traffic is backed up well past it. So it usually reads 12 or 14...
IIRC, the parking lot of your school is public property, and he *can* give you a ticket for reckless driving. I once got a ticket for not wearing my helmet when moving my motorcycle from the back lot to the front lot (school), never once entering the street.
I know replying to AC is probably a waste of time, but...
Yeah, sure. A real lively music scene. How do you listen to it once you get home?
Perfect example: There's a guy here in Memphis who plays solo quite a bit, Ron Franklin (website). I really love his solo stuff, a good bluesy/folk/rock/gospel mix. But he only releases albums w/ the Entertainers. Don't get me wrong, I love RFE, too. But sometimes I'd rather listen to his solo stuff. I could probably get permission to record a show (I'm friendly w/ him), but then I'd have to mike it, try & get decent levels, pipe it into line in,.wav it,.mp3 it, etc. Much easier to give him $10 for a CD & rip it.
But hey! If you want to do all the work for me, I'd be glad to give you $10 for some.mp3s of his solo stuff...
I didn't know Greg wasn't working there anymore. Actually, he was supposed to be bringing in more Oblivians stuff, but never did. He ended up telling me to go to Shangri-La:)
I hear his new band, The Lost Sounds, is really good, too, but I haven't had a chance to check them out yet.
That's the truth. I always go to Last Chance (my fave Memphis record shop) when I want new music. They have a good variety of good (subjective) music, and the employees can usually make decent suggestions based on what you're looking for.
The last time I bought music in a chain was when I got Britney Spears for my 6yo daughter, and that was because Last Chance didn't have it. My daughter did see some all-girl punk vinyl that she wanted, though. There's another plus, helping good kids get away from bad music:)
The disk compression works great, until you either run out of disk space (meaning less than 500mb) or need to move a bunch of older files. Then the entire system slows to a crawl trying to uncompress them.
I especially like how you can tell Netware 4.x *not* to use compression on a volume. It decides you didn't really mean it and compresses files anyway.
I kinda thought that was part of the point of open source. I know I've heard "if you don't like it, fork & do what you want with it (provide the source if you distribute)" before.
That's crazy. My company *still* services Alpha Micros. Granted, we only have a few clients (3, I think, and one of them we just fix their wyse terminals). I'm still amazed that they haven't gotten rid of them yet. Anyway, now they use FH SCSI drives, although it's a bit of a bugger finding one that is compatible...
It's not so much that alcohol doesn't alter your mind enough. It's more the death thing. I've known at least half a dozen ppl. who've died due to alcohol (including my mother). I've known zero who've died due to pot. Hell, I've never even heard of anyone dying from pot. Concievably you could claim gang deaths as being caused by pot, but I'd lean more towards, um, being in a gang.
So, to cut myself off & sum it up, alcohol is mind altering enough, but it's too *life* altering for me.
I'm going to take the 425 V8 out of my '79 Caddy & drop it in my Gumby green '73 Datsun 1200. Ok, it'll really just be the shell of the Datsun, but I'll be able to show the ricers a thing or two:)
She was proportionate, mostly. She would've had to be 300 lbs to really be proportionate. I thought I had a picture of her on my site, but it's shoulders up only.
The only problem is small companies do these things, too. I know the company that I work for, less than 20 employees, monitors all network traffic. We don't pore over every email, but we do keep eyes on things.
Pretty much. I bought a friend of mine a shirt that said "Hey asshole! I'm up here. ^" (well, it was an arrow, but you get the idea. Of course, she had DD or DDD, so I'm sure that had something to do with it:)
Hmm. Well, I was in an adult store a while back, picking up a present for my gf. The clerks were talking about something like that, only it was a plastic jar w/ a lid. They were trying to talk a couple into sticking their finger in it, which they wouldn't do. I did, though. It would have felt good, um, using it, but it definitely didn't feel like a woman.
Would two desks be all that unusual? I already have 2 desks, and as soon as I have time to move into my new (bigger) office, I'll have 3.
I wouldn't necessarily think they'd have to be identical.
According to: Bartholomew and the Oobleck make Oobleck
The recipe will make enough for a class of 30.

That is such a classic. I'm stealing it to read at the next poetry reading...

I'm not sure about the relevance, but:
5'10", 133lb. !!!!

All the kool kids. Not like the brats of today.
:)
Tthhhbbtt!
Actually, "Whip It" was the first non-country song I ever heard, whenever that was put out.
Damn, man. I'm reading at +3, and you have 7 of 13 comments (right now). I mean, I get the porn Napster/autopr0n thing, but damn.

Or a girdle...
How about "...and in other news, while visiting a low-income daycare center Dick Cheney bit the head off an infant, Texas-style!!!"
/. poster was that started that Texas-style thing, but it's been stuck in my head since yesterday.
I don't know who the damn
