Depends what you mean by "Pro", they dont all shot things for product catalogues or billboards. If you're doing a sports event you certianly wouldnt drag along a 4x5, A digital would be the best bet, as it would reduce your "film" changes, esp if there is lots of action happening. Even in a wedding a digital would have its uses, esp with impromtu shots. Different tools for different jobs. Even most amatuers will have more than one body and experiment with different styles and techniques.

  3. Why not tapes...? on Offline Storage for Hard Drives? · · Score: 4, Insightful

I'd re-evaluate tapes... a HDD depends on both the magnet medium and the conected electronics. With a tape, the medium is seperated from the physical components that make it go (The other advantage is that tapes can be read in by anyone to recover data, where as a HDD would need a clean room). Tapes are slower to read data back from, but if the HDDs are stored offline like you are, then this isn't an issue. By the sounds of it, once it's on your offline HDDs you are removing it from your servers. I'd be pretty nervous about that and recomend that you make at least two copies in case one fails. If you want to be serious about you should use an off-site storage facillity, and a comercial storage facility would probably only deal with tapes.

I would leave if I could. I guess I need more real life friends closer to home and less online.

Well, you pretty much gave your own answer there. How do you think you make IRL friends? By spending time with people, going out with them, doing things with them, getting to know them and they you. If you keep going back to online friends then that's all you end up having. It's a balance between IRL and online. A good way to start is get involve with local events that you would enjoy, like LUGs or LANs. It takes practice but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

WARNING troll alert: If reading is better then not reading does that apply to any kind? What about reading a KKK book?

"Books are patient where we are slow to understand, allow us to go over hard parts as many times as we wish, and are never critical of our lapses. Books are key to understanding the world and participating in a democratic society." -- Carl Sagan

Because with books you can read, stop and think, re-read and allow you to form opinions. TV does allow you to do that (as much), it's just a continual stream that doesn't stop and let you question it. It's a lot easier to manipulate your views with TV.

Also most bookshops don't sell KKK books, so it's harder for people to get that sort of thing. Watch TV (and movies) and you'll come across many popular shows that use race issues (and violence) as a theme: CSI, Law and Order, Cops etc.
