From what Ive read seems like studios are dropping 3D releases of some movies due to the lower turnouts for 3D movies the last year. I am one of them people, avatar 3d was cool, but once movies like step-up 3D came out, it officially went from a technology back to a fad. Since I dont often sit and watch a movies in its entirety at home 3d glasses would be a pain. Put them on, take them off goto the kitchen, put them back on, them them off to look up someone on imdb, put them on, take them off let the cat in/out.......
It took probably thousands or more hackers and modders since 2006 to crack it, so epic fail would be an overstatement. If they did it in an afternoon, then I would agree it would be an epic failure.
Seems somewhat biased the riaa and other lawyer heavy companies can send out millions of lawsuits but when it comes to the porn companies it's different. What does that do for all the other mass lawsuits that have been or will be sent to other downloaders ?
Most cars will use smart chargers and do a majority of their charging overnight, when power usage low and power rates are lower.
A 3300 watt charger is about the same a 2 microwaves, I dont see people protesting at walmart saying dont buy any microwaves you will blow the power grid.
I dont expect to see more than a 1% increase per year of plug in-able cars. So we there should be time to get ready, put up solar panels on your roof or something.
I have been looking at buying one myself, I am tired of going outside on a rainy night and holding my phone up to send a text back to someone. T-mobile, Verizon & ATT all have little to no service around our house.
I remember back before computers had onboard drive controllers and there was no such thing as a standard drive interface, they sold ISA hard drive cards, it was a drive & controller all in one. I dont see to much advantage running a drive on a ram slot, you can just dedicate a drive(s) to you work, swap or temp files. I typically do that when editing video, 1 drive holds the raw videos, one drive is a temp drive and one is what the final video files are outputted to when they are rendered. Much faster then using 1 drive or even a single raid to read/write large amounts of data at the same time.
Someone streaming one or 2 movies per day, one at a time VS someone downloading 8 movies, 2 games and 5 cd's at once from 300 peers 24/7...I think netflix would be the clear bandwith miser.
First thing I thought too. Google will be tracking your viewing and inserting its own ads and pop-ups over your shows. Ill save the 400$ extra it costs and get a laptop that I can take out of the front room.
When I first got internet (dsl) it was like 25$ a month, then got @home it was about 35$, they got bought out by at&t price went up to 40, got bought out by comcast price went to 42,46,48$.
795 Million $ for me ? Cool.
We only live about 20 minutes outside of Tacoma, WA and we have no internet (cable, DSL or wireless) cell phone hardly work, dont even have cable tv on our street. Just dial up or satellite. We have satellite but its about 80$ a month and goes out several times a day for 2-20 minutes. Also has a daily download limit of 350mb.
The porn site people are smart and dont want to load your computer with malware and get blocked in firefox as an attack site. They want to be discrete and keep you coming back.
Its the hackers that who dont care who's site they ruin by sneaking in hidden iframes and fake anti virus scanners.
I run a radio site that uses shoutcast & WMA streaming, I typically have 2-4 WMA & 15-20 shoutcast viewers, I will have to put up a poll to see what software is most used.
For the most part I dont care what someone I hardly talk to is making for dinner, when they are going to take a shower or how the drive though got their order wrong.
I remember back in the day when yahoo was king, they had a simple search box and a few links. As time went on they stacked more link, videos, news feeds, ads, movie trailers, celebrity gossip, etc....Same thing happened to msn, bing is slightly better but Im sure it will be bloated in a year or 2.
People got tired of it all and went to google. If they want news they will goto a new site.
A liter is about 1/4 the size of a gallon, so all cars would have very low ratings if they said miles per liter, or KM per liter.
A SUV that gets 12mpg would get about 4 KM per Liter and a honda that gets 30mpg would get about 10 KM per Liter.
And with everyone saying why dont we just get the people who get 12mpg to get 50, your not gonna get bubba out of his super duty and into an insite or jetta tdi. If he is a contractor or got a nice bass boat, he will in fact need a truck that gets poor mileage.
Since about when Win 2000 came out they have been saying we no longer need a bios and soon will not have one. But they keep making them.
I had an off brand MB that had a graphical bios interface, used the mouse and icons. It was on an AMD K6 200mhz if I remember correctly, must have been 97-98. I remember it because the MB was junk and died in 2 weeks, brought it back for a name brand.
I see no reason why private industry would just step up and take over the US manned space program as the president is hoping. There would be almost no return for the massive amount of money they would spend. They could get a few million from the super rich for space tourism and a few more million for painting the Pepsi or Coke logo on the side of their spacecraft but it probably wouldn't pay for gas.
The only way it would happen is to get hundreds of billions in loans and grants from the govt. so that would eliminate any cost savings. What it would do is give tons of money to the top 1% of the management of these new space companies while they would boot out all the NASA old timers and hire back minimum wage workers and outsource the rest of the work to other countries.
In terms of the national budget, nasa only gets about 0.52%, half of what it got in the early 90's. Social security & defense together get about 40%. Just increasing the budget back to 1% would have a huge impact and keep or create hundreds of thousands of high paying jobs requiring highly skilled workers.
The current administrations (both local and national) seems to be turning America into an overworked, underpaid, goal-less, over taxed lower class society. Cut Parks, cut NASA, tax everyone to drive on the roads there soon will be little to do but work and go home and pay taxes.
Most everything I watch is on Discovery, History or one of the other cable networks. For the most part ABC, CBS, NBC, etc all run low budget and out of date programs & 100's of interchangeable sitcoms.
If you want the problem solved, take your copies back to best buy or walmart and exchange them 4 or 5 times.
Tell them this wont play, it must be faulty. If that becomes so much of a problem with hundred of returns at each store, they will complain to the distributors about how many returns they are getting and how much it is costing them. If walmart is not happy, things will be changed.
So, you can just plug in your 49" (what I did) HDTV and go gaming, do web sites or whatever, or buy 6 identical monitors & mounts and set it all up and in the end have higher resolution but have your
windows all split into 6 parts ? Maybe for gaming it would work, but for web sites, having text split between monitors is really annoying. I think even for videos it would be rather annoying. What if amd drops support for this in a few years when you are ready for an upgrade ?
Just wait a few years until 2k & 4k hdtv become available, you will have better resolution and one clean screen with out breaks. And no worries about being stuck to one manufacturer, you will be able to plug your 1 cable into about any computer.
Its just a phone blow up to 8", not much functionally. Soon as the word gets out No Usb, Weird OS (all their windows programs will not work), no flash (no web games, youtube or facebook & myspace apps) and about 10 other things people will forget about it.
I sent a message to my wife, & she got it but it also went to some random person, they wrote back and asked what we were talking about.

What about apps like emule ? They have been around for almost 10 years now and have no centralized database or tracking

I got our last computer at Best Buy for like 369$, dual core, 2gb ram, 320gb HD, more then adequate for running outlook and looking at craigslist.

Let customers opt in/out of spam text blocking.
