I agree with what you're saying except that your Nintendo example is wrong. Nintendo started out as a toy company (well, a card company, then a bunch of other things, then a toy company) and then moved into video games as logical extension (non electric games -> electric games).
The episodes I've seen of Family Guy uniformly suck.
Watch the old ones, not the new ones
And WTF is "The Life and Times of Tim" ? If that is a "hit US comedy", then they missed an S in the summary. Furthermore, if that's a hit, I would really hate to see the misses.
I'm an american who watches cable tv everyday and I've never heard of it. Don't believe the internet as to what's a "Hit"
Bring back Ren and Stimpy !
I second this motion (except they fucked up with the "new" ren & stimpy episodes they made a couple years ago *shudder*)
:-) is more common than:) ? where on the internet do you go that people who actually regularly use smilies are the same people who would type 3 keys rather than 2?
LOL
(see, i didn't type laughing out loud, because that would be dumb)

Not to mention the fact that the 6502 was the same processor used in the SNES, thereby creating a great platform for future game developers to start honing their skills.
The NES had a modifed 6502 like the Apple II. The SNES used a 65c816.
Perhaps make them implement any standard feature which is implemented by at least 2 other browsers.
This is retarded, this is like forcing a car maker to include ipod connections and controls in their cars because other major companies are doing it.
It is absolutely ridiculous to assume that they should be forced to comply to any standards at all. It is a product that you are not forced to use. If you like caramel, then buy a candy bar with caramel, but don't try to force the more popular candy that doesn't include caramel to change.
This is no longer true as radio is no longer live. I worked at a Clear Channel station for close to minimum wage where the djs came in, recorded their talk in like 20 minutes, and then left. The song list was selected by a computer halfway across the country or something, and I got to watch TV and make sure the system didn't freeze or something. I'm pretty sure I was only there because of FCC regulations saying that somebody had to be there.
From the escapist:
According to a report on the German website Heise Online (translated by Google), the decision came as a result of the game's "brutal scenes," and paves the way for the Federal Verification Office for Youth-Endangering Media to place the game on an index of banned games. Placement on the index would result in a complete ban of the game, making it illegal to advertise, sell or import into Germany; currently, the refusal of the USK to issue a rating means the game is available for purchase only to people 18 years of age or older.
A refusal to give a rating bans it from the 360 and the PS3 since microsoft and sony don't allow unrated games, but they'll still be able to sell the PC version. I guess this is like their ban of manhunt 2and other violent games.
Also, the escapist had this on 9/25 and gamasutra on 9/26. (oh, nm, the article is from 9/26)
Thanks to our public education system you can filter out minors by asking questions about geography or world history (many kids don't realize that the US was fighting Japan and the Germans at the same time during WWII). Or you could test if they know the difference between "you're", "your" and "ur"
But most adults don't know the difference either!
Accessing porn should not require a grammer test:P (What is the adjustive in the following sentence "Mary grabbed hold of Reginald's quivering member and began stroking it gently."?)
I've always thought robot swarms would be good for stuff like landfill reclamation. Teach it to recognize something you want picked up and then set them loose. Tell each other when they've found something or when they need help moving it, etc.
Oh, yeah, which is 80 mutations per generation.
Y Total: ~ 1 / 53
Mutations in Y: 12
Generations: 8
Mutations per generation: 53.338 * 12 / 8 = ~ 80
According to this I get closer to 1/53
Total bases: 3,079,843,747
Y Chromosome: 57,741,652
3,079,843,747 / 57,741,652 = 53.338...
so about one 53rd
A little late to post this, but...

just my 2 cents
Seconded.

Are you seriously saying you click links on slashdot without first looking at where it's sending you?
Not really, no.
these tags are ridiculous, how many stories does slashdot have about Kentucky Fried Chicken?
is anyone really so stupid as to think that the Colonel is making a space ship?
Ironically, the episode of House, MD that was on USA last night was the episode when it was Lupus...
I don't think that word means what you think it means....

Wishful thinking makes for a good press release, but not such a good Slashdot story.
Wishful thinking makes for every slashdot story
Yeah, Chubby Rain was my first thought
So they hijacked a ship, stole all their dvds and put them in the warehouse? Arrr!

It's pronounced c-sharp
And they only seem to have 5 of the 38 sections up still :P

You want standards compliant? Use Opera.

Then how in the world could they have a webpage to allow you to register domains in the first place? They need at least one domain

Sure you can. You can believe anything you want to. Making logical sense has nothing to do with it. (reference: see all religions)
Yeah, he's got to have a pretty low opinion about himself to think he couldn't possibly have enough of an influence for it to be his fault
One word: Collectors.
I've always thought robot swarms would be good for stuff like landfill reclamation. Teach it to recognize something you want picked up and then set them loose. Tell each other when they've found something or when they need help moving it, etc.
Might not be worth the ROI though.
