It's obvious what this is! It's so that when they release Windows 9 they can say "but hey, the audio subsystem sucked in Vista, 9's is sooooo much better!"
Oh god no! Don't they know how hard it is for may people to read websites with a black background? Especially with grey, red or blue text????? Black backgrounds might save energy, but they're a usability nightmare! IMO.
I don't know the datalink specifics, but if the GPS locks as you say, the ADS equipment may go offline and the controller could be notified accordingly. The pilot can always send a position report via voice. I'm sure lock-ups like this are mitigated by design but you can always revert to the avionics a la pre-GPS technology.
What some posters fail to realise is that planes can be flown safely even when something like ADS fails or is not available. This sometimes occurs when ATC systems or communications networks fail, which like all man made engineering systems can and does happen. Controllers manually control the flights and increase their separation. They are trained to do this and the systems do support them.
I'm trying to find out when GPS was first introduced in the skies, but some posters seem to think this is a new technology and will bring disaster when the Gulf War escalates or a sun flare occurs. I'm pretty sure GPS has been used in the skies for quite some time and I don't remember hearing of any disasters during wars or sun flares.
If ADS does fail, position reports can still be sent by the pilot via voice communications.
Just to continue your informative post: ADS is meant to provide position reports in areas not covered by radar. It complements voice position reports and radar coverage.
ADS has already been implemented over the North Atlantic by NAV CANADA and NATS. So if it takes the FAA 20 years to implement, something is amiss. And I doubt it will be redundant. ADS and CPDLC (FANS - see Wikipedia or search Google) are technologies that are being implemented (and are expected) to safely support future growth in air travel.
Who cares? You should know better - a new tech product is bound to have issues. It's not worth waiting in line for. Wait until it's been out a while; by then they've sorted out the glitches, maybe even upgraded the specs ever so slightly. Oh, you want to be able to wank over the fact you bought an iPhone on the day it was released for $600!? Sucker!
Unless he had legal obligations to distribute it through a label, he should be free to choose. For example, I believe artists sign deals with companies to record say five albums, which will be distributed. After those five, for example, he would be free to do as he likes.
Go Prince (or whatever your name is this week), go!
I would have read the whole article were it not for the weird style.
I couldn't tell fact from fiction; was the interviewer trying to get me to think Reiser is innocent? Or was he trying to confuse me? Or was his style simply to make it sound like some weird cyber-book?
I strictly work 7.75 hours per day mon-fri; no blackberry, no work at home, no email checking at home. Heck no work contact at home at all. This is EXACTLY how I want it - my family is much more important to me.
The absolute answer must be the open/close button on CDRom drives in PCs. Which idiot thought to put the button UNDERNEATH the tray, so that when it's open I can't find it. More so when the CDRom is located near the bottom of the PC on the floor, so I have to crawl on the floor to open/close it!
Hey dumbo, ever hear of usability? You work for Microsoft????
Someone I know thinks an internet search engine and internet explorer are one and the same. It took a while for me to explain he could use any search engine through IE.
How do you think he will cope with linux kernels, configuring modelines so he can get a decent resolution or even using synaptic?
Ignoring wine (it's unreliable, unstable, doesn't support enough software and just too painful to bother with), my list is:
1) Too many distributions, too many choices 2) No Quicken/Microsoft Money/QuickTax/QuickBooks (I said ignore Wine!) 3) OpenOffice isn't there yet) 4) Games (What did I say earlier!?) 5) Still can require technical knowledge (add repository how? Edit xorg.conf?? How do I partition and mount?) 6) Confusing package management - where's my EXE I run? How do I uninstall it?
I think OSX is what Linux has been trying to be....

Oh yeah I'd love to use an authentication system on multiple sites that forces me to re-enter my password in Firefox every time I visit hotmail.com!

Thanks - I looked at the first page and decided that 10 lines of text on a page that was 3 feet in length wasn't worth my energy or time.

I think "7" is the amount of memory in Gb that the new OS will need. I think they have OSX jealousy here. OS7 anyone?
I wouldn't know; I never see my manager and he hates talking to us plebs.
Is that 12 million 360s, one per customer? Or does it include sending replacements to people under warranty?

I'm confused - call me when it's decided.
Google creates cool stuff :)
Microsoft tries to, fails, buys it and ruins it

Site traffic obviously....
Luckily Will Wright != John Romero.
At which point I'll buy a Mac instead.
So that's why all the videos I've seen of STALKER involve nothing more than shooting wild animals!!!
Well that was a waste of time....

I forgot familiarity - "it's not Windows or Outlook I can't use that!"
