Really, anyone who is even moderately interested in history realizes that this has been going on in the USA since Washington left office (1797), maybe earlier.

I would put it to the readers that overall "the great experiment" has turned out better than one could have hoped. Secret wars, deals and shenanigans are generally less prevalent as the decades roll on (granted this is also evident world-wide). 100 years ago most of Europe was run by a dozen Emperors, Kings and Queens who were mostly all related (lol @ accountability). There are no more Rothschilds/Habsburgs.

A big plague would be better. War tends to kill young men disproportionately. Also all that wasted money on war tools (fuel, ammo, weapons).

A global plague could thin out the herd by 1/3, taking the old (less Soc Sec $!) the young (less tax $ for schools!) and the sick. However this only really buys us time. Also, World Trade / Economy would at least take on a death like stagger, if not go into a coma.

Not to mention triggering a few revolutions around the world.

Certainly would shake things up a bit.

Your position is to short sighted. It's not done yet, give it another generation or two. Like the USAs strategy to isolate (and not attack) the USSR, post WWII. This policy took approximately 45 years (1945-90) to work through. I'm not saying the USA-China policy will work, but 20 years is too short to say "it failed".
