True. Film has its benefits. I wouldn't dream of photographing landscape professonally with digital, although it is getting close. However, for magazines and newspapers, you can't tell the difference. And printing today is digital anyway, so why add the scanning step?
As for cost, digital is just too much fun compared to film. Instant gratifaction, no waiting for the development, excellent platform for training. I own 2 digital cameras, both costed about the same as a good SLR body, my next camera will be Digital SLR, and I expect to spend USD 1500-3000 for the first step.
And digital is cost effective, I have read many stories on dpreview about wedding photographers who have paid for their equipment in few months.
However, I still have my 20 year old OM-2, it is simply a work of art. :)

Apart from all the moronic comments about sturdy computers (Nice going Irishman, trolling in the story), Isn't this a clue about the silence in space? You know, the Drake equation? How strong must a signal be, to be heard? Pioneer is only 2x orbit of Pluto away from the Sun, and already impossible to listen to. Nearest star is 4.2 light years away, and nearest galaxy is "just" 75,000 light years away. How strong signal would be needed to communicate these distances. Mr. Lee never intented that the URL should be visible, and these days, when search engines have become "powerful enough" to find about anything, the domain name isn't that important anymore. Personally, I use Google to search for "someproduct or company" instead of someproductorcompany.com, I started to do this in the glory days of AltaVista.
I think we should just allow any 3 letter top domain (aaa-zzz) and be done with it. 4 letters could be used for special purposes (.kids?) and 2 letters for countries. I can't see any technical problems with this, except that IBM would claim control over the .ibm domain. :)

I sincerely hope that it never comes to that I will be charged every time when I listen to my favorite song. The very thought is giving me shivers. It is too close "The right to read" story.
