seems like they fail to realize that anyone on any computer can download a host file that points common ad servers back to the localhost making them not load. In addition, there is software out there kinda like ad block that automatically downloads and updates your systems host file to makes ads not load. ON ANY BROWSER... blocking firefox seems like a waste of time
that everyone on THIS PAGE is wearing goggles... what good is mid air 3D animation if you can't even look at it without eye protection?
Also I would like to add everytime something cool comes out like this the article is all good until the bottom where they have to go and say it's good for street signs and advertising
See also: "This enables the display to be curved around objects like street furniture - handy for advertising and other promotional purposes."
-From the article about the LG Oil/water display
what my argument was really about... is that they should realize that it could actually be PROFITABLE for them to let stuff be distributed like this...
infact THEY should get a you tube account and put up the episodes them self (with a watermark and a lower res quality perhaps)...
I can promise there are people who had never heard of a show until they happened to catch a clip on you tube and now watch new episodes of the show regularly... thats certain
(no particular show.. just TV shows in general)
and I'm also pretty sure that very few people watch episodes on Youtube INSTEAD of on tv
in summation, what I was getting at is they need to not attack youtube but realize it is a blessing to their ratings... it's free advertising for their shows and does WAAAY more good then harm YES it's their property and YES they can go ahead and sue if they want HOWEVER I'm just saying it's dumb move they're better off leaving it alone
They should realize that they can't STOP people from distributing videos like this... and accept the fact that it serves as free advertising for their shows. sure THEIR ads are not in it.. but it's like an AD for people to watch there ad... they should sue Tivo too for letting people skip commercials (did that already happen?.. meh whatever)
one sheet of this on top of a sheet of "battery paper" (or whatever they wanna call it) now we just need a paper thin media format that self decodes to the screen...
they would simply release (and they have the man power to do it EASILY) a software package for linux compatible with all versions for like $50 or whatever.. that includes all the Codecs and drivers and whatever else.. basically everything that they're partners are getting out of them... and just sell it to the community directly
they're already consumer available, but expensive as hell but not as bad as the figures here for simply multiplying the price of small flash cards. On the bright side they're way faster and CAN be smaller for more space
yea i've had the same thing with setting people up with firefox and then like a month later going back and see them using IE... I never could understand it
For my little sisters I got rid of every trace of IE icons on their whole computer... that made it stick
Anyways... a solution
They should have a check box default to checked in the install that says Make Firefox my default browser...
and.. maybe another that says remove all IE icons from my computer (people don't read they just click "Next")
OR
The community needs to start making bigger, meaner, scarier, security flaw utilizing virus' to attack IE
kidding.. sorta;-)
good as a toy if you're rich and wanna be like... "LOOK WHAT I GOT!!!"
however they say they wanna use it for marketing purposes such as wrapping it around street furniture...
HOWEVER it also says in this part that it needs to be viewed from 180 (straight on)... which would make it invisible to passing vehicles almost always and i'd imagine since it's "not as bright as a standard LCD" that the sun light will just wash it out anways...

their firefox blockers (if they know what they're doing) is server side.. so no that doesn't stop it... BUT you can just switch your user agent

Adobe Live Motion in 2000 ADOBE couldn't take down Flash
now flash is even more common and powerful and wide spread
does this mean MS is gonna buy adobe

I agree
:-(
but i'm gonna guess our government and/or the big energy producing companies that control it don't...
one sheet of this on top of a sheet of "battery paper" (or whatever they wanna call it) now we just need a paper thin media format that self decodes to the screen...
I posted this same story 2 weeks ago.. but it never made it past the fire hose :-(
they wouldn't partner with Linux companies...

i think you mean "Commercial Grade" as in usable byr commercial applications
what this article means by Corporate vs Community is versions that are freely available vs ones that you HAVE to pay for
NUMA?
he's a level 42 politician with a +3 against democrats
whats so "GOOD" about that support?
no no no no... u don't want a bunch of 2 GB flash cards... or the 16 GB...
what you're looking for is a Solid State Hard Drive
they're already consumer available, but expensive as hell but not as bad as the figures here for simply multiplying the price of small flash cards. On the bright side they're way faster and CAN be smaller for more space
I mean come on what was vegas... a big boring desert now look at it
we need a casino resort on the moon... (or just floating in orbit.. whatever)
although working there would kinda suck.. but whatever

Don't forget the Zap Car
OR... because pres bush allocated 1.2 billion for hydrogen car research.
m a_375_01.html
BUT he's still a jack ass 'cause the way he wants to do it the hydrogen will be produced by fossil fuels which will produce MORE emissions and use more fossil fuel do to a loss in efficiency. References:

according to this diagram
Electric cars -- 86% efficient from power generation to use in a car
Hydrogen Cars -- 25% efficient from power generation to use in a car
