Looking through these and watching Natalie Portman covered in hot grits, running Linux on a Beowulf cluster? What would you look at and what would it keep reminding you that you noticed but weren't focusing on?
He was read the "Section 5 Public Order Act of 1986", told to remove the sign, and a short time later had the sign removed by police who then issued him a summons. Clear enough for you?
I realize this will get your statement will get you to +5 Insightful, but it is incorrect. A cult is defined by its secretiveness. Scientology definitely qualifies as both a religion and a cult. However the two terms are not mutually inclusive. I think you meant mutually exclusive.
To get back somewhat on topic - yes, Scientology is a cult in that if you try to leave you will likely be declared a SP and shunned (or worse - get targeted for attack) by the "church"
Linux on the desktop shouldn't be the goal anymore - 2008 is the year of linux on the laptop.
Vista won't run well on the increasingly popular lightweight and low end laptops like the eepc, olpc xo, and what are sure to be many imitators. People have demonstrated they're willing to use linux on these machines, and Microsoft has demonstrated they Don't Get It. Increasingly popular with who? From 0 to something is certainly an increase. I certainly would not want a low end laptop to replace my old, but fairly high end at the time desktop. It just won't do what I want it to. For those who these new low end laptops cater too, its fantastic linux is working out well for them. But its not likely to be running on my desktop or my laptop (it is not personal, its my work laptop) any time soon.
Funny thing in the article though, it says how the big players won't *make* money pushing Linux on the desktop, but if your company has let say 300,000 desktops, would you not *save* a lot of money if you pushed for linux on your desktops?
Its just a PR stunt. Stop pandering to the tax-loophole-exploiting jerk. A PR stunt it may well be, but I take exception to your characterization of his financing methods. At least according to his Wikipedia entry, he is one of the few people in Germany using the German tax laws in regards to German film fiancing on the way the German government intended it. the article states most "German" film financing using these "tax-loopholes" are mere exploits used to finance American films.
His movies may suck, but at least he is using the money and tax laws as they were intended!
as encyclopedists we have a moral obligation to set a very high bar [1]

I love wikipedia, its a great quick reference on lots of things - but, it appears Mr. Wales is either the target of a distributed denial of reputation attack, or has taken advantage of his position in the form of financial and sexual shenanigans. Or maybe its a mixture of both?
Mr. Norris was a co-founder of the Carlyle Group (and ironically the current head of that group is the ex-CEO of IBM;).
Its all BIG money though...which begs the question - why? I mean does any really believe this up to $100M investment in the walking corpse of SCO is based on the possibility of them doing well business-wise? As many have pointed out its more likely a small fee to ensure that a) the anti-Linux FUD machine keeps operating b) a few scoundrels gets paid off and disappear c) certain skeletons stay firmly ensconced in the closet d) by going private a) and c) are easier to perform out of the eyes of stockholders or the SEC. given the financial weight of the folks behind this its just a tad on the scary side if you ask me.
Interesting - i would hope SEC is having a good hard look at who bought at the lowest price, and if they held or sold once it bounced back up.

Genesis turned into a bland pop act 2 albums after Peter Gabriel left. But I think you know that.

Of course not, much as absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
