It's just not that good frankly. Moby really needs to consider moving back to electronica, his past two cd's have just been sad remberances of the kind of music moby used to put out. . .
I mean sure I guess now you could maybe decode divx on a 486 or something, but otherwise I can't see what the point is. It's not like with graphics cards where the cpu cycles saved are desperately needed elsewhere within the same process (the game). What, if anything, does anyone think this card's selling points would be? Maybe if someone integrated this technology into pre-existing graphics or dvd-decoder cards. . .

What I don't understand is why most right-wingers in the USA like to classify issues such as global warming as a left-wing political issue. Is it not possible to be right wing and concerned about the environment?
Nope. Not really. Enviromental problems and the pollution that cuases them are more or less entirely the result of big buisness and thier blatant disregard for all that is good and decent. I'd like to see you try and be Right-wing AND be anti-corporate at the same time.
Something like this won't really be pratical until battery life has far exceeded current standards. The difference in battery drain in stand-by mode and in-use mode for most phones is significant, I expect that this would drain batteries in a manner more like the latter rather than the former. As a result, I doubt that it could be implemented in any sort of practical manner at the present. . .
But then who would buy the software? In order for that to be an idea worth using (as one that would make them more money than they currrently do), they would have to turn the class into a sham-advertisement. Instead of real training, users would be shown how to use whatever AV software that company was peddeling.
Lots of shows have around found their way into common exchange on peer to peer networks. Not only cartoons such as the simpsons, family guy, southpark, and futurama, but also Shows like Farscape can often be found. Sure it's not everything, but its a good start.
The reason no one will buy this is because of the stupid format. Sony knows perfectly that by refusing to stick to an established format they will be dooming this project to failure. Sony, however, is perfectly happy to allow this to fail. Then they can continue wave their arms frantically and shout "Look! You see! No one bought it! They're all liars! Thieves and Liars!". After all, if no one buys these songs, it's no skin off their back, they'd make MORE money selling a normal cd.
When they release the songs using a format that's: 1) Easy to burn 2) Easy to copy 3) Easy to play (well-established players, like winamp)
Then, and only then, will they begin to open a new market.
Oh, and BTW, when I download songs, I download stuff that never gets any radio play (which, btw, is the record companies faults) and, if I like it, I buy the cd. I won't buy anything that I haven't listened to first. I've bought thousands of dollars worth of cds over the years and I'd probably have bought only 2 or 3 if it weren't for Napster and its kin.
Comcast has capped my upload speed to 1/10th its original capicty, and download to 1/3rd. The only reason i haven't switched to DSL is because these two speeds happen to be the exact same speeds i'd get from any DSL provider. Since I would not be getting better service, I haven't seen a reason to switch.
If comcast is gonna start charging more for me to use more, then they damn well better lift the upload/download caps so that I that I can use it when I want to. ..
The problem with all this is that it's not going to benefit customers in any possible way. Speeds will not improve for others; the network's capacity is not taxed currently. The upload/download caps make it so that only a faction of the total bandwidth availlable is ever at use at any give time. The caps are there so that comcast can create a new high speed service for buisness that they can charge more for. In other words, they've turned bandwidth into a commodotiy. They are limmitting supply intentionally, so they can drive up the price. Its pathetic and only works because they are a Monopoly. Capitalism strikes again. . .
The local fox station airs two episodes of the Simpsons per day, as I'm sure many local fox affiliates do. Today they aired "Lisa the Skeptic" in which Gould was a guest star. Very strange timing.
Does anyone honestly think that Lucas would be so protective just because of money? Because quite frankly I strongly doubt "money" is a factor in the creation of fan-made films. The odds of any of these films making any money is about 0%; money is simply not the real issue.
George lucas has just always been protective of his story. If he doesn't anway anyone else taking over where he leaves off, just respect it.
I'm a Star Wars fan (though not a fanatical fan, uhm....I think that makes sense) and I'm not mad about tPM. Sure it didn't live up to the hype, but then again, nothing short of "the greatest movie ever" could have possibly lived up to the hype. The movie itself is well-made and entertaining, you simply have to get past the few bad parts (Yippeee!?! No character in any movie -- ever -- should be heard to utter such a horrible slice of script) and ignore all the hype.
It was a good movie on many levels, with a happy upbeat feel that should be even more effective when it stands in contrast with the darker feel up the upcoming movies. In many ways it echos episode 4's happy feel contrasted by the darkness in episode 5.
I think by now that we all know Lucas screwed up. He tried to pander to a certain audience (children) who were more likely to buy up all the merchandising and lost sight of the fact that his audience is comprised of people who are no longer children. It's time we all moved on, recognized the merits of the movie (don't throw the baby out with the bathwater) and gave Lucas another chance. . .
I, like many other Farscape fans, got the last 4 episodes of season 3 (which is what is starting to show today) several months ago off of alt.binaries.tv.farscape after they were originally aired (not in the US, elsewhere). They're good, with alot of suprises so I'll probably watch them again now. Unfortunately, that leaves poor old me still waiting for the new Season 4 episodes.:(
I really don't know what Jon Katz was expecting as he walked into the theatre. Personally, I thought this was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Some of the gags are just painfully stupid and make you wonder how the ended up in the final cut, but almost all of it was just funny. By taking scenes from older Kung Fu movies and redubbing them with completely different words, the net effect is that of a Mystery Science Theatre 3000 on crack. For instance in one scene, two people walking along clearly not talking, are dubbed to be singing a song "We are ventriloquists". This sort of humor isn't for everyone, but nearly everyone who walked out of the movie when it was over seemed to have enjoyed it as much as I did.
Is how the description of the plane makes it sound so extravagant while clearly most of the people in China do not even have houses that nice. China gives communism a bad name...to many people have learned to associate "communism" with the countries who exemplify it the least. Whatever happened to "No man should have two overcoats until every man has one?"
I mean honestly, what claim can linux hold over windows if not that the availabillity of the source code allots the user more freedom? This is, as far as I'm concerned, what linux is all about. I am totally unable to understand any argument against making one of the most important benefits of linux more accessible to a wider market.
Would you be so stupid as to copy it exactly? I mean theres 20 different ways to do the same thing in just about any langauge, how stupid would you have to be to copy someone eleses code without changing variable names and statements to be slightly different.
Best of all, since no method for copying DVD games exists (well, not for under $5,000) it's not like piracy will be the issue.
Actually a good dvd-r drive can be had for less than 500 dollars now (around 400-450 if you get a good deal) and the discs can be purchased for as little as 3 dollars. These discs, despite what you may have heard about dvd-r drives and copy protection for copying movies, CAN successfully copy most any dvd movie and I suspect could be used to copy any dvd-based game as well.
This has been nothing but headaches for arcade goers. I'm a college student and I can't tell how irritating it was to get carded at an arcade. The way most arcades were doing it (the ones who use cards not tokens) they'd put out two sets of cards, one programmed to play any game, and one that won't play the over-16 games. Alot of the time I'd just end up trading with some poor under-16 smchuck, take his card and go back up to the counter and complain that I was given a under-16 card. I liked to think of it as "freedom-fighting".:)
Most 486's that I know have both ISA and PCI.
It's just not that good frankly. Moby really needs to consider moving back to electronica, his past two cd's have just been sad remberances of the kind of music moby used to put out. . .

Also did Shadow Warrior, and LOTS of Duke Nukem Console games. . .

I read this years ago, word for word the same. How is this possibly "news" for nerds?

Did September 11th kill "That's my Bush"? If so, then Osama bin Laden better watch his back. . .
Pitch Black *WAS* a good movie. But we all know perfectly well that Supernova is the of *THE* worst movies, EVER. Supernova supersucked.
