I buy music on vinyl too. But today's mixers are digital so when you plug in your turntable, sound is processed through a DSP at 24-bit 96kHz on mainstream club mixers (like the DJM-800) or 32-bit on high-end equipment. Many say that digital mixers sound better than analog ones but the truth is that records simply sound different, not better, it's an illusion.
As for MP3, I can just tell that OGG sampled at the same bit rate sound better than MP3. Too bad most portable music players/car radios don't support it.
"I think this is a trustful deal we are making."
Wait a minute, he made a "trustful deal" with "Steve Ballmer" from "Microsoft"???
This guy doesn't seem to be tech savvy otherwise he would have known about some incompatibilities....
Just another marketing trick from Microsoft.
Let's announce something shocking, then publish another news telling it was scrapped.
Result: press and websites talks two times about the next Microsoft product to announce nothing.
I've used apt-p2p as an apt-get replacement for a short time.
It often downloads faster than the standard method but is slower to start downloading.
So it's not great when you have many small packages to install.
But for a full system upgrade I guess it's a good alternative. Especially on (or close to) launch date when you're sure that update manager will go idle midway through the upgrade.
Other alternative is to wait for a week or too after release date when servers are less busy.
The problem with Internet Explorer is that the version of your OS determine if you can upgrade to the latest version or not. For example, Windows 2000 users can't use Windows Internet Explorer 7. It simply won't install. So they have to keep using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. I even suspect IE 7 to require Windows XP Service Pack 2. Perhaps Internet Explorer 8 will require Windows Vista who knows... So many Internet Explorer users don't update because they don't want to but rather because they can't.
On the other hand, browsers like Opera, Mozilla Firefox or SeaMonkey allow you to update whatever your OS version is. I even installed latest SeaMonkey painlessly on a Windows 98 box...
Realistically, it was once, and it wasn't from the Germans, it was from the Communists who would certainly have taken over France when the Russians had defeated the Germans and had the western Allies not invaded Western Europe. Russia was always going to beat Germany no matter what the Americans or British did, so really the latter saved Western Europe from Soviet domination. Pity they were too late for Eastern Europe. That's so true! Interesting how most people aren't aware of the facts...
I often read the comment "Frenchies would be speaking german without the USA.". In fact, French would be speaking russian. Anyway, it shows the education level of people posting such comments.
Why do some american people really feel the need to post stupid (bashing) comments when they see the word "french" on a webpage (same applies to Youtube). It shows a bad image of other (clever) americans because of generalization.
Result today is that we're commenting on an old war in a Windows tie-in ruling. Which is a great achievement.
Please people, think twice before posting!
Country bashing is stupid and pointless, we are all human being (well, most of us;-). Each country is different with a different culture, we can make fun of it. But it's not funny anymore when it's uneducated and bad intentioned.
Just check the benchmarks for OpenGL games. Like any Doom3 based ones. Of course, but as I said, there are no such benchmarks anymore. I have a magazine there comparing the latest NVIDIA and ATI cards, here are the software used for the tests: 3DMark 06, Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Company of Heroes: Opposing Front, BioShock, F.E.A.R.: Perseus Mandate, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and World in Conflict.... I don't know if any of these use OpenGL but I don't think so (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Interesting, at last OpenGL benchmarks!
But I wonder how do gaming cards result compare to this?
Unfortunately, in every recent computer magazine I buy, all benchmarks are about DirectX performance only, no word about OpenGL... and since I'm running Linux only the latest figures are of any interest to me...
At least, in the past they used to have both OpenGL and DirectX tests...

Happy to keep on using SeaMonkey (even if I already miss the classic Netscape theme in future SM 2.0)...
In Belgium, many of the hospitals have most of their computers running Linux...
I use NTFS for large mass storage external drives (more efficient than FAT32). I just tar everything to keep permissions.
Has he ever saw aliens of Star Trek?
Does it run Linux?
I use SeaMonkey.
Agree.
I have never in my whole life experienced a purr that had ANY recognizable component of "baby cry" in it.
It's not said that it sounds like a baby cry but only that it's on the same frequency.
There's a list of mirrors offering the latest version here: http://alienarena.arcadebelgium.be/
Avast offers a Linux version for centralized filesystem and mail protection. Pricing is $9.69/year per licenses for 20-49 licenses. There's one license per mailbox. Here's the full pricelist: http://www.avast.com/eng/pricelist-avast-for-linux-unix-server.html

FUD.
Please give one to Miss South Carolina too.
Yes, one that comes with Google Earth pre-installed.
Unfortunately, it works on 32-bit Linux distributions only. Simply because their JavaScript engine is 32-bit only. :-(
Wow 1.4 Mb/s!!! Unfortunately, I can only dream of such speed!!! I live in the country and my DSL is 1 Mbit/s. Best speed I can expect is 150 Kb/s. :-/

Hurry up! Find Bruce Willis!!!

What will be the impact on Linux DVD playback? "You're breaking the law by watching them, we'll have to seize your original DVD collection!"
