Debian is free. I pay for the hardware. They give me free software, source code, documentation and updates, services and they don't even profit from the hardware
If I could send anonymous view habits to Tivo in exchange for free service I WOULD.
its still a dream. Although, I've read enough over the years to know it unlikely. And with the recent contest/interviews I've all but completely given up hope
But this isn't soley a copyright case. This is a simple contract/license dispute. You, as a kernel developer, gave SCO a license to distribute your work, they aren't living up to thier end of the bargain.
Here's what I think. I don't think you have a company at all. I think your webpage was made as a highschool project. I find it absolutely insane that you list "Proof Re ading" as one of your services, considering the shear number of spelling mistake in your website. To make mistakes in a slashdot post is one thing, but on your "company's" website is going to make you look unprofessional, which you obviously are. And what's this with project completion time going up after you disabled ports. As far as I can tell you've only been in business for a _max_ of 22 days, since it says on the first page of your website
Frank C. Bailey and Kirk A. Fickert founded this company in October 2003
I'd just like to toss in my support for gandi, i've been using them for years as well and have never had any kind of hassle from them. I also don't get any spam from them, they also highlight in bold the option to opt-out of including you in the for-sale version of thier whois. I guess ICANN requires they sell a list.
Oh I'm sure Verisign would put up with that. You have to remember what allows verisign todo wildcarding, the fact that they still manage the root servers. My guess is that if ICANN tried to pull something like that (which they're not dumb enough todo) Verisign would either:
A) Say "fine, I'm going home, and I'm taking my root servers with me" or B) Give ICANN the finger, and keep on doing what they're doing.
So then it proves to the hiring manager that you are capable of doing more than 1 thing at a time and working in high stress situations is something you've been doing for years. Not only that, but you've continued to gain expierence during the few years that it took you to get your degree.
OR..this:
Hiring Manager: Hmm, I see here that you haven't worked in 4 years, can you explain to me why?
You: Well yes, I put my entire life on hold for 4 years, quit my job and everything, to go back to school. But now that I haven't had a boss in 4 years I'm ready to start taking orders.
Oh come on now, the slashdot summary of this article is written like the submitter didn't RTFA.
It says right in the article that they are trying to work with 3rd party providers to restore compatibility. The actual switch is a week off and I bet they'll be compatible by then. Note that this is nothing like the AOL shut out which has no purpose other than to shut out non-AOL clients
"one best-of-breed browser" Thats marketing speak if I've ever heard it. Sounds like Doyle is a money grubbing patent hoarder that never intended to develop anything. He just saw an obvious progression and knew that he didn't have the skills to develop it. So he paid the money to get the patent, and sat on it until it became big enough for him to make some serious money on. Software patents are _evil_
I find it really hard ot believe that there is a single artist out there that finds a $2000 settlement with a 12 year old fan acceptable. But they have no control over what the RIAA does. What they do have control over, the big bands at least, is millions of dollars. Some band could land a huge public relations win if they stepped up and offered that mother $2000.
With all the money they make they could likely pretty easily pay many of these settlements. I can't believe we don't see a single artist standing up for any of these people. I remember awhile back the Smashing Pumpkins and the Offspring were being pretty vocal about thier opinions. What happened? Are all these new artists really that greedy? Or are they just afriad?
They're totally different beasts. Let me translate for you:

Apples are so much easier to deal with, you can eat the skin.
Anyway, the Zaurus _is_ a desktop computer crammed into a very small form factor. If you're seriously getting a PDA, sure, get a Palm. If you want a very small linux computer that can also do PDA functions half-assed, get a Zaurus.

Yeah, you'd need that to make up for the fact that you're living in the sardine can on a shelf full of other sardine cans.
I'm on my neighbors AP right now.
Btw, SSID: Bartell_LTD
WEP is actually a lot more effective than people on slashdot will tell you.
Whoa. Bitter much?
Its amazing how much faster a wooden webserver burns . Plus you end up with a nice pile of ashes instead of a melted heap.

The only reaon the suits would go away so quickly is because the RIAA would be lobbying even harder to get thier exemption in RICO

I'm a big fan of my Skagen watch. Its a decently classy analog watch, all titanium
Hah. Do you by chance work for a large bank?
Just to play devil's advocate. Linux's original purpose was to be a copy/clone of Minix
And then what exactly is a "good whitehat" going todo to stop a DDoS?
Paganism is just a loose word for a large variety of polytheistic, shamanistic, and mystical non-monotheistic religions.

Now go back to class.

Big development effort? Its an "A" record and a webpage.
