    What would happen if the actual TV companies made a website like this? That way we could still have the service and they could make some cash off of it (though a banner ad or something) and also still have the regular ads shown...

    I, for one, would use the service a LOT.

    As much as I think this would be a great service... I have to say that these people are just *begging* for a lawsuit. Especially with what just happened to my.mp3.com... this is basically the exact same thing.

    Yes, and at only $30/disc, it's *extremely* economical to mail those movies to relatives!

    If I'm not mistaken (been a while since I learned this stuff..) the materials are actually changed in the reactions. There are multiple forms of Uranium, etc... some more dangerous than others. When they're 'used', they change from a safe form to a much more dangerous form.

    ... who complained when /. got bought by Andover, this should go to show you that it's not necessarily a bad thing. Had they not been, the resources most likely wouldn't be there to fight MS, and we'd probably have to just give in.

    This was passed in response to people war-dialing Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition 800 numbers. And don't believe you're protected by caller ID: 800 numbers are equipped with ANI (Automatic Number Identification), which gives the person you just called your name, telephone number, and street address. This is for the convenience of the retail operators of most 800 numbers (i.e. the people paying for the service), and is not blocked by whatever Caller ID service you're using.

    All the more reason to use one of those "make phone calls over the internet" web pages! =)

    I'm involved in a lawsuit like this as well. I am suing someone from a rival company for using the same formatting that I used in one of their MS Word documents.

    Anyways, all stupidity aside, what's the different between the two? HTML is just a way to make your content look fancier, and formatting in word processing program does the same thing. This is a major load of crap.

    first off, MP3.com has complied with the Federal Court ruling by silencing (their term) major label albums

    That sounds great! Lets silence the RIAA! (woo, that sounds like a reference to *ahem* taking them out.)

    (on a side note, this lameness filter has to go... the title of this post was originally SILENCE HIM!, meant to be a yell, but of course the filter didn't LIKE that *spit*)

    How can you say that there are tons of good games for the DC when there aren't that many games for it period?

    Soul Calibur is okay, but it got boring after a couple of days.

    As for replay potential, (I know this sounds sad) but I've played FFVII at least 15 times through, and other games (Grandia, Need For Speed: High Stakes) I can't stop playing either.

    The only game on the DC that really has great replay is Worms: Armageddon, but you can get that for the PSX as well.

    Anyways, I'm not going to get into another console war, so I won't be posting any more replies.

    I believe that Kessen is scheduled for a fall 2000 release on the PSX2, acutally.

    The GIA is reporting that it has been confirmed for a North American release.

    The PlayStation has a games library of over 500 titles. Roughly 20 - 30 of those were huge hits, and some of them only in niche genres (music/dance games etc.) The rest just.. Umm.. Sucked.

    Blah, there were roughly 20-30 good RPGs alone for the psx...

    Apparently you haven't seen the lineup of some of the games coming out for the psx2. There are several good RPGs planned already (FFX, anyone?), and that's a genre that the DC is severly lacking in *STILL* after how long since it's release? There's maybe a couple true RPGs on the system, and I don't even want to get into how horrible they are...(*cough* evolution *cough*)

    It sounds like you're just an angry Sega fan.

    (and before you go accusing me of stuff, I own both a DC and a PSX, and I *MUCH* prefer the Playstation... the games on the DC are just crap so far.)

    If I'm not mistaken (IANAL, naturally), actually hosting the material is illegal. BUT, linking to it is perfectly fine. So, someone make copies of all the comments... stick them on a server off in some country where they can't be touched, and post a link moderated to +5 on the story in question linking to that page.

    I think that would get /. off the hook, and the comments would still be there and totally visible.

    While you're making plugs, here, I'd like to mention a site.

    KFSS Studios is playing out some of Nobuo Uematsu's best works.. I happen to think they sound incredible... only problem is that the CD won't be released until they can get some more funding... :/

    So, I'm trying to get a little publicity for it so it'll come out sonner =)
