Hmm, just RTFA. With a company the size of google I don't see how just demonstrating that an employee is uploading copyrighted content is good enough. Just because the janitor / cafeteria lady / lead developer for Blogger is doing it doesn't mean that the people in the YouTube group knew they were. (I'm saying this knowing full well that Viacom is just trying to legally prove what everyone else already knows - of course the YouTube guys know people are putting copyrighted stuff on there.)
Because brief clips of movies on the internet aren't pretty much free advertising for your movies... what're those called again? trailers? And music videos aren't free advertising for songs either... Viacom is shooting their own foot.
Apology accepted - now get your butt to a waffle house with A/C and think about what you've done!... Mull it over some amazing smothered and covered waffles.
I considered it... and I hear it's an excellent place to stash swag... but my hotel is right across the street and I know that if I BYOC I'll either end up spending the entire time there (and miss PAX) or I'll just ignore it. So... I figure I might as well just skip it and enjoy PAX without having to worry about lugging around my machine. It's not like there's a lack of stuff to do - although gaming in person with the PA crew would be fun.
According to the mag those numbers came from DFC Intelligence... maybe that'll help you get the break down you want.
Personally I don't see any problems with the number of releases coming out. We may be seeing fewer of a specific genre (seriously, how many MMORPG's do we need?) but overall, I feel like there's more variety in PC games than ever. You can't go by sheer numbers anyway. Honestly, a good number of the games (console and PC both) that come out are garbage. Quality is much more important here than quantity. I don't want to play two crappy $25 games... or even 5 $10 games. I want to play one, amazing, $50 title.
Holy crap can we stop with the "PC gaming is dead / dying" mantra? It's simply not true.
- US PC Gaming Revenues 2007 - $2.76 billion +12%
- US PC Gaming Revenues 2008 - $3.1 billion +14% (forecast)
- Worldwide PC Gaming 2007 - $8.3 billion +14%
- Worldwide PC Gaming 2008 - $9.6 billion +16% (forecast)
Those numbers are from the May MaximumPC. PC gaming is *not* dead, it's growing. Stop spreading the FUD.
Amen. Almost no one has the same taste in music. I can't see this being a good thing. Worst case scenario - it comes with all Britney Spears tracks and your only option is to throw down money to buy new ones so you don't have to hear her. Best case scenario - it comes with a good variety of music but there's only 1 track you like and you end up stuck listening to it until you finally give up and buy more before you go insane. Either way... neither one is better than custom made songs for the game.
no, No, NO, this sneaking crap into bills garbage has got to stop. If they're trying to hand out Telco immunity under the guise of "maintaining terror fighting tools" then vote "no". Then when people complain put out a press release saying - "This is crap and (here is why). If someone puts out a bill that isn't laden with money-backed special interest filler - I'll vote for it." Sometimes it blows my mind to see / hear about the things that have been combined into one bill.
It's not tagged Censorship because the gov't is censoring him... it's tagged Censorship because that's what he's always pushing for and he's finally getting the throttling he deserves.
Clinton (the original, not frickin' Hillary) signed the DMCA into law. Democrats aren't everything the people are led to believe they are. They're just as bad as their republican equivalents when it comes to corporate lobbyists.
The entire system has gotten completely out of hand. We need to change it so that there is no way for a company to financially reward a politician for listening to them. We also need to make it so that companies aren't even allowed to lobby politicians in the first place.
Actually the idea of hybrid drives has been around for a while. Vista (i know, i know) was actually designed with it in mind. I've always thought it was an interesting idea. Almost like a third layer between the CPU and the hard drive (aside from RAM and cache).
Although it'd also be nice to just give yourself a hybrid type setup. 100+ gig SSD drive for OS, Apps, Games, etc. and then a 1TB HDD for file storage.
Well if I were a second rate, stale, mediocre, and unmotivated employee I might take it upon myself to use some of my free time to eliminate that page from Yahoo's index. Then I'd create my own page saying something similar (or worse) about the author of the story... and I'd make sure it was #1 if you searched for his name.:P
Microsoft just wants to make their name really exciting. When they buy / merge with Yahoo! they can combine the names and all of a sudden "Microsoft" becomes, "Microsoft!" - the most exciting company ever! When that happens be on the look out for "Windows 7!"
If you plan on working with robots you could learn binary. After all, there are 10 types of people in this world - those who understand binary, and those who don't.
You had the best mom-in-law ever! You should have told your workmates about her too... "My mom-in-law's so awesome she's even got her own website - go look it up."
As for the porn star naming thing... My wife's name is quite unique (being a made up combination of two other names) but there was already a porn star using that name about 6 years ago. I think it's tough to find a name that hasn't been used at some point for that purpose.
OneNote is great. It's got built-in tools that allow you to screenshot anything you've got open and throw it in as part of your notes. You can also import PDF's and take notes over them. This is great with a tablet. You never print lecture notes. You just import them into OneNote and write over the top of them. If you need a hard copy you can print the lecture notes with your hand written notes included.

Wait what? Are you trying to say that hard drives are your BFF or are you trying to say that they're a commodity? I'm confused.

Nope! I only know how far away it is because I'm counting the weeks!

Ummm. PAX isn't in three weeks. You need to add 4 to that 3 there bucko. and yes... PAX will be awesome.
AKA - Microsoft++!

Well at least *someone* remembers the stories that were posted just a few days ago...
Why would they bother to read the bill? Their campaign finance check is in the mail from the Telcos. That's all they need to know. :-/

I don't know about the smoking part but I'm all about the snacks. Where are the cheeto's!? I'm getting a Mt. Dew!

'Cause we don't love maple syrup as much as we love oil. Although... maple syrup goes much better with waffles.
Informative!? no! Fuuuunnny. Watch this.
