MMORPGs are FILLED with power hungry individuals who love to grief, both allies and foes. Saying that the nature of the average gamer will magically change in Huxley, so that players will seek out the challenge (of someone who can possibly defeat them) instead of killing defenseless players, for the standard reward of their cries and vows to quit the game...is completely naiive. You sir, are a moron.

The big question is, how do you avoid the problem of a level 50 player absolutely destroying a level 1 newcomer? Kang had an answer. Basically, the idea is that the levels are divided by class. The first 10 levels are the basic class, while the highest 10 levels (41-50) are the elite class. Level 50 characters will have more socket skills at their disposal, as well as more weapons and armor, and they'll usually battle other players that fall into their class. Meanwhile, lower-ranked players will battle in their class, so the disparity isn't so great.

So the answer, Kang, is...nothing. Perhaps it's something we were not told, but that's beside the problem. What a shitty journalist AND editor. Simply write the lies and misdirection that the mindless journalist is presented, then present them to us as facts. Well done.

Of COURSE the majority of the posters read the article. We're SHADOWRUN FANS. The problem with taking it one part at a time is that it isnt SHADOWRUN. Shadowrun isn't unique because of how the world EVOLVED but HOW IT ENDED UP.

"Wow, we need need more game concepts...oh look, here's a license we have been sitting on. Fanbase is kinda small, so we're going to BUTCHER the universe in the interest of simplicity and release date. When the first game comes out to a lukewarm reception, we can always try to adapt the next to market pressures to end up with a better game. Cause that's what sequels are about."

How many times has this actually WORKED? The SR univers isn't exactly a huge seller NOW. Chances that FASA and MICROSOFT is going to release some revolutionary game that will bring thousands of people into a NON-SHADOWRUN world using the SHADOWRUN NAME and then a sequel? The word nil comes to mind, but I think it's substantially LOWER than that. This signs a deathwarrant for the genre. This game is an admission that the people in control of SR have no interest in making a true-to-Shadowrun game. Either they aren't talented enough or smart enough to capitalize on the rich history, that they already own. That's SCARY and SAD.

Children are unable to understand this, much less accept or BELIEVE it. Children are primarily instinctive, curiosity machines. Please don't continue to argue that morality trumps reality. In the US, children tend to stay in the same town, even when they run away. In other parts of the world where this problem is more prevalent (upbringing in contradiction to radical liberalism of europe, for example) children simply disappear to a different part of europe.

Porn is a trap - it feeds the pleasure centers of the brain, devalues the humanity of the person being used for that pleasure, and damages people's ability to relate to one another in a healthy way.

I have never seen evidence of this. If this is true, then TV, the computer, the toaster and the ubiquitous back-scratcher is a trap. I'm not an absolutist, but I am not prone to demonize human behaviour that predates the written word. Porn is just the visual representation of fantasy. You cannot outlaw fantasy and art at the same time.

If you ran the world, what would you do to "outlaw porn"? What's porn to you? What's a medical journal versus a sex-ed book versus a dirty cartoon? How does this contrast with the rest of the world which we all still have to live in?
