  1. gentoo on Ubuntu to Bring About Red Hat's Demise? · · Score: 0

Gentoo friggin owns. I dont know why more people don't use it. The documentation / forums are great. The concept is unique. You never run into problems with "Oh they didnt compile IMAP into PHP, I'll have to compile it from source" because everything's compiled from source and customized the way you want and easily changed and recompiled if you wanted that changed as well.

Guess it would be nice to get a faster way of getting it installed for n00b users.

Yah I've had discussions with my wife and dad about that kind of thing....to do it the star trek way would be too complicated and dangerous....dematerialize matter and be able to re-materialize a person exactly as they were before? Reminds me of "The Fly"...just doesn't seem very possible anytime soon anyway.

Although bending space/time seems like more of an option....but thats even more out of our grasp....doesn't seem as dangerous but then again, there are other factors to think about besides molecules.

Anyways I'm just a noob with such topics but enjoy discussing them outside of the Sci-fi world.

I hear ya there. I've been playing EQ since 2002 and I've "quit" 3 times now. And guess what I'm still playing.

My wife (then gf) used to get so frustrated with me raiding Vex Thal for 10 hours on a Saturday but now she plays EQ2 and she's hooked on raiding too.

We quit recently together and she ended up watching more TV and I did what I always do, remove Windows and install Linux and putz around tweaking things and working on worthless websites. ( http://www.gaspricesmustgo.com/ ).

And so we find ourselves once again playing the game in our free time. I'm convinced the game is impossible to play moderately...it just sucks you in.

We do still find time for other things but except for a friend's LAN party, I haven't played any other games in a while.....when you play an MMORPG....when you're NOT playing it, you don't really want to play other games...you usually get out of the house lol.

Also try FreeI and NoPayNet. Altavista is obviously a good choice considering it's own Nationwide Free Internet. NoCharge.com works too. Lots of free ISPs out there that are national. And they all work pretty well.

  19. Blue Laser CD-Writing on A 140GB CD-ROM? · · Score: 1

This reminds me of something I have only heard little of....Blue Light Laser CDing. From what I've heard....laser light right now is at Red...and obviously Blue is at the other end of the spectrum....and so it is more concentrated and thinner....so you can write more data to the same CD media. Anyone know more about this?
