"Maybe they were, but the things that they were upset about and their reactions were not unreasonable."
Well, personally I think Dante's reaction to Veronica's past sexual history was a bit unreasonable in Clerka. Esepcially since for Veronica sucking a penis isn't anywhere near as intimate as actual sex.
I could understand plans being cancelled so that someone could appear on a game show. In Mallrats the other contenstant had DIED and the spot needed to be filled to save the show.
As for the "fingercuffs" situation... well Chasing Amy is a whole different kettle of fish and can hardly be compared to "normal" situations... but even in that movie, Holden really has some big issues and seriously overreacts to quite a lot...
So... my view isn't tainted, I guess I just look at the world differently then you.;)
Yea, I was just feeling pedanic... plus it's a pet peeve when people say things like "US Time" or "Canada Time" when that can be anywhere between GMT-8 to GMT-4... erm GMT-3.5 I think, if you count Newfoundland.:D
I've never understood this "overqualified" business myself...
A number of years ago when I was younger and looking for work I tried Future Shop, a Canadian version of Circuit City, and was told I was overqualified to sell computers.
Overqualified?! How the heck can someone be overqualified to sell a COMPUTER? Well, I was informed that I would try too hard to give the customer what they WANTED, and I wouldn't give them what the/store/ wanted... which would be the "deal of the week" and such.
So, next time you're in a place like Future Shop and you wonder just why the sales people don't seem to have a clue... it's because the smart ones aren't hired... they might actually sell you what you want instead of whatever "deal" the chain got that week.:(
"The only thing that hacker might have on me is knowledge of a few things I don't."
Uh, which would make them SMARTER then you, on that particular subject.
Hell, I know virtually nothing about automotive things, nor really want to, and my friend who is a wiz on cars knows precious little about programming...
So, we're smarter then each other in our respective fields, but stupid in the field we're not strong in.
Somehow I also doubt you are the "smartest" person in your field either... actually, I don't think *anyone* is/the/ smartest at anything really, it's all down to experience and the moment at hand.:)
Well for VB6 (not sure about.NET) you can easily get the module and line number if you use some undocumented tricks with the Erl variable and line numbers.
Though, it would be great if it would say "Type Mismatch: Trying to use STRING instead of LONG" or something.:D
The funny thing is these stupid error messages exist all over the place in MS software.
Once, when writing a DX app I kept getting a "File Not Found" error trying to load a bitmap... it drove me crazy as the file WAS there and could be loaded.
Finally, after trying everything I loaded the image into Photoshop and re-saved it, and boom, it suddenly worked.
It seems that the header of the graphic had a small glitch in it, and instead of giving me a meaningful error (like Corrupt File) it decided to give me the "File Not Found" error. Sigh.
"Windows doesn't just corrupt itself because it has nothing better to do, much as you'd like to believe that's the case."
I don't know... I've built custom computers for a good number of years and I swear that Windows has some "secret code" somewhere that causes it to self-destruct.
I've had Windows (95 and up) just suddently stop functioning correctly on a variety of hardware for no particularly good reason before... and this is even before it's shipped to the customer!
The odd thing is, in most of these cases where there isn't anything obviously wrong with the hardware a re-install usually works... go figure.:)
Anyways, just wanted to point out that it seems Windows can just decide to "corrupt itself because it has nothing better to do"... I've seen it happen and pulled out hair because of it.:}
Got an extra one?
:}
For some reason I seem unable to acquire my own shiny new Gmail account.

Perhaps that's because they are unreasonable assholes?
;)
Or could it be that my view is tainted since I'm female?

Ahh, ok, I understand the differences now... thank you for the clarification. :)

"...or have their clocks set to US time..."
;)
Wow, when did all of the USA convert to a single time-zone.
So, by extension MacOS X would also be good since it is BDS derived? :)

I would imagine that any sets that were destroyed could be re-created from the original designs.
:}
Heck, there will probably be sites springing up after the Miniseries to point out any differences between the "new" Moya and the "old" Moya sets.
Give them time, I am sure that'll be something else you'll be able to spend your money on. :D
I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I don't see that...
Um, it was "stolen" from the last link in the article... the MSN story the Slashdot article directly links to.
:)
I don't think it was plagerism this time, more just bad quoting of the original article.
The "Nova" meaning "Doesn't Move" is an urban legend according to Snopes.com:

Ok, the first two made me smile, but "essen mein sheizer. oh yah. dass ist gut!" almost made me need to buy a new keyboard! :)
Or how much stupider we are...
;)
Depends on which way you look at it I guess.
While I agree they should use proportional sizes you should probably get an eye exam... or perhaps a better monitor?
;)
I could read that article just fine on a 110dpi LCD monitor at 1600x1024 and I am in the next age bracket.
This was literally THE first thing I thought of when I read the headline. :}

Guess I am a Trekkie, erm Trekker, erm whatever the hell you want to call it.
Though, I am not so bad that I have episode names, numbers, cast, guest cast, plotlines, ship names and everything else memorized...
Though... I did have a co-worker once who was a walking Trek Encyclopedia... kinda scary.
RTFA... He was trying to go to the Phillipenes on an expired US Passport.
That's why they detained him and are deporting him back to the Unites States.
"This would be really neat with those 3D stereo page-flip glasses (yes, I have a pair) which give true stereoscopic 3D from a regular CRT monitor."
:)
Or, you could forgo the glasses and get a brand-new 3D LCD Monitor!
"And when did the UK leave the continent of Europe?"
;)
When it broke off the continent and became an island perhaps?
Did you know that SciFi has made a four-episode mini-series to "finish" the story? It will be airied during the fall/winter season this year. :)
:)
Each episode is one hour, so less commercials about 40 minutes, or 160 in total, for just over 2½ hours.
I would of prefered all of season five myself, but it will be nice to see a conclusion to the story instead of just "To Be Continued..."!
