    Germany had major contracts with Iraq, they knew that if a war broke out they would loose a ton of money.

    Exports to Iraq 1st half of 2002: 220 milion.
    Total german annual exports: >$700 BILLION.
    Tell me, does that look like enough money to raise a stink with a major ally? Answer: no. Also you're not making any sense. If it was about money Germany would have taken part in the war. Contracts to be gained were certainly greater than those pre-war peanuts.

    Saddam and or his sons would have eventually gained WMD and used them against the U.S.A. and or Isreal.

    That doesn't make any sense, he would have been wiped out by the retaliation.

    Only 2 sensors? The inner ear contains an array of sensors called nerve cells. And the outer and middle ear are rather elaborate waveguiding constructions. Ears are far more sophisticated constructions than a microphone and catch more than just 2D information.

    We only have two ears. But those two ears can pinpoint an audio source with around 3 degrees accuracy plus distance. That's x,y and z axis for you.

    A 2 speaker setup will provide 1 axis. There's algorithms to shape sound like the ear would hear it from a 3D source, but that's not quite the real thing due to physical limitations.

    That's why they keep coming out with new ideas.

    And this system is better than handing out headphones because:
    a) Cost of 300-400 quality headphones
    b) Uncomfortable for many people
    c) Ickyness
    d) You can't whisper

    I got me a Hitachi/IBM 7k250 160GB 8MB cache PATA drive. Sustained read at 50 MB/s. Nothing special these days, really.

    LCD-TFT Monitors can also display only about 252000 colours. They create more colours by alternating between two colors every refresh. That's why displays who are manufacturer rated at 12 ms have a real refresh of more than 20ms.

    With the help of Trusted Computing/Palladium. Like portable phones today, which may have a SIM lock and can only be used with a certain provider.

    You'll get free TCPA enabled hardware but it'll only let you run software by a certain company, software you'll have to pay for.

    Let me quote from the directive, Article 8:

    That's all. Nowhere is mentioned who shall take the measures. But since raids by companies would be unconstitutional in all member states the 'raid by companies' bit was pulled out of the editor's ass.

    The olde C64 top view airplane shooter Blue Max is (yes is, not was) banned in Germany. For it's controversial gameplay which involves shooting 4 pixel wide enemies, 80's style.

    Only effect the ban had was that every youth absolutely had to copy the game.

    I heard on NPR a week or two ago, from an author who wrote about the 1918 pandemic, that in one instance a man boarded a trolley. Before the trolley got to the end of the line, the conductor and several passengers were dead.

    Probably because the trolley crashed, he just failed to mention that. Book sales and all.
