I agree with the spirit of the argument, the average user won't assume something is in base 2. However the average user will also not assume their OS is base 2. So when they go out to buy more hard drive space they base how much they want to buy on how much they use already, without much care on how the unit is measured. This ignorance causes a major screwup that wouldn't be helped by labeling sizes with GiB, the user still gets home and perhaps rightly thinks hes been ripped off. In this case however, maybe its some latent feeling of elitism in my bones that lets me say "screw it, thats okay."
I agree with your platform of cutting off criminal's legs to prevent them from walking into your house and stealing everything. Only problem with it is, the lefties will force us to make our houses wheelchair accessible. That is why I'm making the suggestion that you edit your presidential platform to include banning of all imported wheelchairs, just to be safe.

You're mistaken to think that WHOIS is purely a IP tool. A verifiable whois could give swift justice to those who practice fraud in the various ways they could do it. I'd hate to think that businesses could only hold themselves on the net by reputation alone, as there is no way to push it farther than that.
