  1. Already knew this. on People Emit Visible Light · · Score: 1

I made the mistake of venturing outside and wandering to a beach about a month ago. After returning home at the end of the day, I was clearly visible in a dark room with the lights turned off.

  2. This probably only works for really good games. on Valve's Newell On Community-Funded Games · · Score: 2, Interesting

If someone had offered me a glimpse of Schizoid or Braid (both from Xbox 360 arcade) and said "Would you like to invest? I would have dove in head first.

  4. OS on a flashdrive? on Delete Data On Netbook If Stolen? · · Score: 1

This might be a bit of overkill, and personally it is not something I've tried myself (yet). Install a user un-friendly version of Linux (just to confound the criminal) and use an Iron Key to run a super small Linux distro on. Keep all of your important data on the key. Don't store the laptop and the key together.

Added bonus - if you are around a desktop or a laptop better than a netbook, you can run your OS and all your documents through the drive.

I have a hard enough time not finding female rats attractive.

hmm, having trouble here. Relakks just shot down both my credit card and debit card, although I know both are good to go with plenty of available funds. Is Relakks not available in the U.S.?

...and it worked fantastic. I got a 30 day free trial for xmas and decided to offer it to my roommate that my other two roommates and I hated. He was addicted by the end of the first day and kicked out of the university within a year.

(Before you flame me, he was well on his way to dropping out, we just helped him along. No one forced him to play.)

  16. My thoughts exactly. on Study Finds the Pious Fight Death Hardest · · Score: 1

If a doc told me I had a year to live but I'd be in a hospital bed hooked to machines the entire time, I would walk out the door (assuming I was capable).

I would much rather spend the last few months of my life touring the world and seeing things most never get the chance to than rotting away completely immobilized.

Homer did not design the Cayonero, he designed "The Homer". The Cayonero was not designed by any major character, but was promoted by Krusty the Klown when he got into stand up comedy.

  18. Galcon on We're Just Not That Into You, iPhone Apps · · Score: 1

I bought Galcon after it went down to $4.99 and haven't looked back since. I play it daily online. I didn't even realize online gaming was possible with the iPhone but they nailed it. It's the one game I've played on the iPhone that I really feel just can not be duplicated on a normal PC. Playing it with a keyboard and mouse would feel awkward, in my opinion.

  19. Re:Yes on Do Video Games Cost Too Much? · · Score: 1

Couldn't agree more. I finally got around to watching The Usual Suspects and Soylent Green, both sucked because I pretty much already knew the major catch in both movies.

  20. Just try harder as a music fan. on The Deceptive Perfection of Auto-Tune · · Score: 1

I used to worry about crap like this, having read somewhere that software now exists that can basically come up with the outline for a hit song. I calmed down over the situation when I realized I couldn't give a shit what the masses were listening to. I can still go out there and find stuff I like by artists who really cherish music and not just empty people looking for fame and fortune. Bands like Mastodon aren't going away anytime soon just because Auto-Tune might make worthless bands sound more poppy.

There will always, always, always be people out there somewhere with the passion and talent to make good music, you just have to find them,
