Even in "red" states their are "blue" areas. Usually these are located in urban areas where people are more exposed to differing ideas. Maybe this is an evolution challenge? Which human will prove superior, the one that can accomodate the needs of others or the one who can't?
You bought Sony. Even if you are new here you would done a search for "Sony" before investing in any of their products. They are really, really bad news for anyone favoring openness.
As a true Linux enthusiast I ended up with a Nokia N900, Please, anybody who has one and doesn't like it, offer to sell it soon. My understanding is the formerly great hardware manufacturer is facing severe financial hardship due to bad management decisions concerncing software. I've not seen anything even approaching it since it's introduction. I'd say less than a quarter even offer a hardware keyboard anymore.
You probably are being as how the by definition survival of the fittest means you must be fit to survive. If the predominte organism on the planet finds another organism is useful to them they will do anything they can do make sure it's competitors do not survive. Your firm belief has no real basis in reality.
Went in about 11am, showed my ID, signed my name, was given a paper ballot, marked my choices then fed it into the scanner. Took all of about 5 minutes total from entering the building to walking out with my receipt.
How does hiding the "Start" button qualify as advancing technology? Isn't the motivation behind this related more to hiding what is behind the curtain than it is to exposing what is behind the curtain?
The IEEE and a number of states are working toward getting Software Engineering to be recognized as a real engineering discipline, with a PE available for those working in the field.
As long as those Software Engineers are held legally and finacially responsible for their designs that would be fantastic!
This is free material, so what does buying or markets have anything to do with it? The only real question is whether Amazon is willing to host the information or not.
Somehow people always want to give their neighbors' money to charity instead of their own, however.
That's a good argument for "charitable" taxes you have there. Settle on amount that it takes to support yourself and your dependents, deduct that from your total income, then apply the charity tax to anything above left. I'd recommend some sort of sliding scale such as below 200,000 a certain percent, 200,000 to 500,000 a certain percent, and above 500,000 a certain percent. Of course in the future the amounts and percentages would need to be adjusted to the current economic situation but the idea still holds. Those better able to pay pay more. Problem solved!
Being in my 50s now I am so with you! I absolutely refuse to waste vital resources better reserved to the young by seeing physicians for checkups and such. I will die, I know this. The very day my sphincter fails to contain my feces is the day I want to disappear. If I can't take care of myself, that's it. Unlike others I never want to be a burden to anyone else.
I've even gone so far as having DNR tatooed on my chest. Please respect that. I work in healthcare, and you wouldn't believe the number of times I've seen relatives say do everything when the patient's wishes was to do nothing. Seriously kids, grandma made your parents and your parents made you. Her job is done, just let her go.
...small business owners and it just makes sense that policies favoring a few over the many just aren't going to fly. The whole system, at least from my vantage point, has been jury rigged to favor those who seek to profit from others as far as I can tell. There is very little reward nowadays for those who want to share with others.
So authors are still content to rely on this outmodded must have a middleman "sucking me dry" concept, are they? If someone wants to read you, what difference does it make where they live? Seriously, is anybody really buying into this "can't drive a horseless carraige without a buggy whip" type of thinking anymore?
You aren't suggesting that people should vote for novels that they haven't read are you? In addition, it seems sort of silly to expect someone to vote something they might not like as their favorite does it not? Am I missing something here?
Really the only important thing is who your neighbors are. Ideally they'll be as libertarian as yourself. Doesn't really matter whether they are social or conservative as both understand that people need to be able to live their private lives without undue government interance. You know the type I mean, the ones who don't give a shit if you smoke pot or have five spouses. The people who want to control what you do on your own time are authoritarians. A libertarian's only concern is that you both look after each other's homestead when you can't be looking after it for yourself.
Certainly the device is capable of speeds less than "4G", is it not? If it is, than surely something will work on it. If it is not then it destined to the dustbin of history. Seriously though, what manufacturer would market a device that is completely incompatible with every other existing technololgy?
Actually at one time I did click on ads that interested me. Of course that was before the damn things started taking over more than 10% of the page and began jumping and moving. But there is one type of ad I abhor above all others, and that is the damnable ones that hilite words in the content itself, they are as irritating as the silly popups they use at the bottom of screen during TV shows.

So I guess I'm good then.
People want choices, Chrome takes those choices away.
I'm pretty sure my N900 uses xorg, and it still performs just fine.

So what did your action gain you? Did your Senator introduce legislation aimed at stopping DMCA abuse or not?

...those with CS degrees can't code, or just implying that programming is beneath them?
Consumers consume, customers custom. The first consumes, the second customs. For clarification:
Consume: To expend; use up
Custom: A habitual practice

There is lack of food
Actually there isn't a lack of food, only a problem with its distribution.
Where in the second amendmant does it say you can shoot someone with impunity?c

Are you going to indemnify me against suits from companies such as Monsanto who disagree with the legal advice you are providing here?
