Maybe a bug with that one in regards to winelib stuff?

    Good suggestions, btw. :)

I use the latest VMWare on the latest Dapper release from Ubuntu and have XFS for the filesystem. No issues at all, the install just has to compile a custom kernel module so you have to make sure you have gcc, make, and kernel headers. Otherwise, works great!

However, we didn't even get any MONEY last year from the budget, and this year I imagine it gets axed as well. No matter how hard we try, things stay in reactive mode. Yes, I suppose it is good that we've done our job well enough to stave off any disaster, but given the pittance we get budget-wise, I doubt this continues forever.

I also doubt I'm alone. We have little to no upper management support, and jobs that should be in security like some VPN, web filtering, malware softare, etc. are in other groups.

It's a bit hard to do your job when people think security doesn't deserve any support, right?

Ok, obviously not everyone here is. But I see a number of scary replies on any women in gaming story (browse at -1 if you want to). Is there any reason for it? Granted, it really probably isn't any different than in the general population...

I'm in that age bracket and play games - I'm not a stay-at-home mother, either. However, while I like games like tetris, qbert and lemmings, RPGs (and Diablo-type games like Fate) are my favorite ones. :) I have no insight as to why so many women do in this age bracket. Hell, I don't even have any friends who are stay-at-home mothers. Personally I'm a professional and do ok for myself and have no intention of having children.

Enough for me, my post probably sounds rather pointless by now anyway. :)

A nuclear pulse drive starship powered by matter-antimatter pulse units would be theoretically capable of obtaining a velocity of from 50% to 80% of the speed of light."

That still ends up taking us 44 years or so to Alpha Centauri I guess, but quite a bit faster than your 75,000 years.

I have a simple 20" monitor/TV. If I play a DVD and then switch to a HD (720p or 1080i, doesn't matter), it makes a decent amount of difference...well at least I can tell. Especially in nature programs. Trees and items w/small details look noticeably clearer.

I don't think it is quite as great as from VHS to DVD on a good TV perhaps (had weird colour banding on VHS sometimes), but it is easy to tell HDTV and SDTV apart. This is from 10' away though.
