I think the big question is did he disclose this info at his job interview and did they specify in the job description and at the interview if he might be required to work evenings/weekends. It was his first day on the Job so he would have had zero employment rights to prevent them from firing him.
They do strike me as a bunch of assholes though for firing him over this issue but if he didn't point out the issue at his interview then they are well within their rights asshole or no.
Yep I learnt it over 20 years ago along with several other memory techniques. I still find it useful for when there isn't a more convenient way of recording a list. They was vital for cramming for exams where for example actually being able to remember the periodic table and details of each element certainly gave me an advantage. After I'd been using the techniques for a while I found my natural memory improved significantly too.
Just please stop the bank from asking for four letters from random positions in my password. This isn't more secure you're just letting the world know that you can see my plain text password which is the last thing you should be doing.
The purpose of peer review is to identify incorrect theories and throw them out. This article says an awful lot more about the state of research today than it does about peer review which is doing what it's supposed to be doing.
Great so now the computer will write the program the customer doesn't want because he didn't really know what he wanted when he wrote the requirements. How will this AI piece cope with software maintenance & bug fixes?
Funnily enough most of the projects I work on the requirements get written after the software is complete.
Sadly I'm not kidding about that but looking at the summary it sounds analogous to when sound samples were used to replace session musicians with the exception that you describe the music you want and the computer goes away and splices a load of sound samples together into a piece of music which matches your description. Somehow I don't think John Williams needs to worry about his job
$23 million for hammering the nails in the coffin. Cushy job.
The 3 envelopes she bought her successor aught to be made out of gold

They was vital

Clearly no one else wants to advertise on W10
Fair play
"One of the Linux servers was attacked by unknown hackers."
The 911 service really should be backed by something more reliable than the cheapest option...
Surely you mean it should be run on the most reliable OS (Linux) and subject to regular security reviews and penetration tests
I read the headline and immediately thought it was some kind of source code porn
Dice? They sold this place 6 months ago
Imagine a world without lawyers
Who is Zeljka Zorz to think that animals are our brothers?
Doesn't this loon know that they're our cousins? Very, very, distant cousins.
Does that mean in some states its legal to marry them? I know of at least one Pope who married his horse :)
One wonders if this was coordinated with a specific crime or if it was just a demonstration and they are selling to the highest bidder?
Looking at the sources for most of the links it's just that there's a shitload of bogus crap on the internet. Good example of false authority though
Only install the even numbered ones! Every Star Trek fan knows that!

It smacks of censorship but perhaps it could be used to prioritize important complaints.
Throw the book at them by burying this they are as guilty as the hackers who breached them
I think grinder knows where you can stick your AI
Until we develop an AI that can read between the lines honestly good luck with that
Finally competition from AMD! Stop this stagnation madness!
Don't worry the MBA's will find some way to screw this up they always do
No this is Uber remember the drivers are all self employed
