  5. Um, this is old news on Free Radicals May Not Be Cause of Aging · · Score: 0

Apart from the fact everyone was pretty sure that both this and the ridiculous "DNA Damage" theories were wrong, this has been splatted out of existence in the last week or so - we now know thanks to the mice experiments that Telomere shearing is the primary ageing mechanism, period. There are other mechanisms, and studying the evolutionary scenarios for Senessence (ageing) is absolutely fascinating - but this hippy crap about free rads was never really a contender.

  8. Half-Life/2 on Why Video Game Movie Adaptations Need New Respect · · Score: 0

Just thought I'd better mention it.

Apparently Valve trust hollywood so little they have decided that if a film is made they will do it themselves, though they are unclear as yet on exactly what form it will take.

It could, of course, be the most boring film on earth if done wrong. Shoot, shoot, shoot, puzzle, shoot, shoot, shoot, puzzle, Revelation, shoot, shoot, shoot, puzzle.....

They need to take some inspiration from the (UTTERLY BRILLIANT) Escape From City 17 ten minute short done on youtube, and friends (eg. the Overwatch soldier stating his brainwashed 'reasons' and saying he is 'making a difference', brrrrr).

I have to say, I did enjoy the Doom film even though it had nothing to do with the franchise (there wasn't much story to begin with :) )

  9. Re:Really not new on Next Generation of Algorithms Inspired by Ants · · Score: 0

Ok guys. I did my Ph D on this subject some years ago. ACO was formalized in 1996 (by Marco Dorigo), and the modeling of ants behavior dates back to 1989 (J.-L. Deneubourg). So really nothing new here.

I have to agree. The Mesh radio guys and the military have been on this for years also. What happens? Do people or publishers forget or is there something more cynical at work here?

Yeah I've been using EasyDNS as one name service provider for quite a while now and they are a bit unique in that they have a website that actually works (and isn't full of javascript, flash, advertising or other such crap).

I did do a bit of a double-take when I saw EveryDNS and EasyDNS, and had to peer at the wording to separate out the meaning. Glad its been cleared up though.

    Go EasyDNS.
