    Now that would be a great business plan, charging people for things they don't buy.

    Cable TV networks charge you for things you don't watch. In order for me to get The Space Channel (in .CA) my cableco's package also included crap like The Golf Channel and StarTV (entertainment news). Screw 'em, cancelled cable and download the odd show I want to watch.

    The thought just occured to me, that if Slashdot is gonna be posting all these 'best of the year' type lists... then maybe Slashdot should compile its own 'best of' list?

    In an utopian world, perhaps. Your idea would require that the editors actually perform some higher thought processes including reading, sorting and counting.

    *sigh* Phillip Johnson was a legal-beagle with an interest in protecting his mythology from science. Virtualy everything he's writing has been proven wrong by the scientific community.     For the home theatre setup, which could be called a waste of time as well. :) The current lights are recessed fluorescent: harsh as hell. These new ones are incandecent so are dimmable.

    Interesting observation. I thought about the time spent on hobbies or gaming when I could do something else more constructive (ie.: I was wanting to install a few wall sconce lights in the basement this week as I have it off. And it's now Friday, sconces still in the boxes.)

    That said, a bit of recreation time isn't a bad thing. No one can tear me away from the Thief series of games. :)

    If the hospital sends you home "while the last of the overdose [you] had taken worked its way out of [your] system" then it wasn't much of an attempt so much as a whiny cry for attention. At the least they'd make you swallow a disgusting charcoal drink or pump you out and keep you for psychiatric evaluation.

    There was a program called PGPDisk which was part of the PGP package ages ago. I don't know if it's still available but worked well. I kept 650 MB PGPDisks backed up onto CDRW.

    Depending on your definitions, banning malware could mean banning Windows!

    Or if the RIAA/MPAA have their way: P2P traffic. Be careful what you wish for.
