Most phones these days are all the same. Widescreen display, touch interface.
You also forgot, spycraft tools for data collections above everything else. I want segregation b/t my modem & the rest of the SoC or I'll just go retro w/ the flip-phone when my last n900 finally dies...
And BTW, this may be my last comment on/.
Yup, as I said in my last post two years ago when DICE began screwing with/. & SF. I recently re-added/. to my RSS feeds as they didn't go full advert articles as I expected, like other 'Daily' Tech sites. Regardless, work requires a simple rs232 enabled xp machine and that is all the 'digital' I need in my life anymore. I'll soon bid adieu to the 'Home Shopping Internet', it's been sad to see what it has become. Viva unbridled consumption!
when was the last time that YOU(personally) went and fought corruption in your government?
I have been silently protesting for 13 years. I made a conscious decision to earn far less than previous and make only enough to survive... but not enough to pay taxes. ~$12k/ year and I never cashed either of the guv's "rebates, any of the Earned Income Credits nor taken any other guv handouts.
I am single(surprise!), no kids by intent rather than circumstance, live in a cheap rent shack in the desert w/ swamp cooling, maintain/repair my few assets myself. and live a very uneventful existence. I read lots of library books and observe/track local fauna for fun. I am not happy nor sad but contented and ultimately feel more fulfilled than I had when I was stressed making money contracting, Best of all, I am 30lbs lighter and in better health than previous 10 years, I feed my brain everyday and I sleep like a baby at night. Perhaps best of all, with all my free time, I can be generous without a profit motive and most people find me useful to have around. Like the old adage says, "If the ladies don't find you irresistible you better hope they find you handy".
I think you might be making an entire mountain range out of a pygmy molehill.
No, OP is not. OP is voicing a widespread concern amongst users. Obfuscating controls is trendy right now as the web is continuing to morph. Creating reliance on 'cloud' services, 'app stores' and 'search' serves only the providers and removes options from the masses. Call this 'walled garden' mentality paranoia, evolution or behavior modification... the fact is usability is being eroded in lieu of monetization.
This is a concern for me, the customer. Not me, the 'product'.
I'm glad Digg.com is dead. I just hope Reddit.com doesn't pull something stupid too.
Like employing/encouraging/allowing douchebags to game 9/10 of all submissions with a snowball's chance in hell of gaining any significant rank? Too late. According to recent revelations, the fix was in before even Conde Naste bought them up.
Oh yeah...Fuck Babyman! And now, fuck DavidReiss666 (et al)
Work? Angry Birds is more profitable than usefulness. More to the point, what is more important than profit margins? These slightly useful "toys" are enormously profitable and that is the only reason they are being pushed like crack in the alley behind a pawn shop.
Not posted from my tiny keyboard on my slow, tiny 'smart' toy that doesn't play well with/.
What about the drug-seekers, the hypochondriacs and the lonely who pack the ERs every day of the year? Are we going to pay for their premiums through more welfare so that they can be in compliance? This is a band-aid to fix the symptoms, not a cure for the problems. As long as the able taxpayers are paying more and the corps make more in the immediate future, long-term effects are unworthy of consideration, apparently. We can always pay more.
They were given a seemingly indefinite amount of time to get around to wrapping up their story arc and instead dawdled and expanded and answered questions with more questions in an almost seemingly serial model to acquire more money.
That's the feeling I got watching Prometheus last weekend. I was expecting "Stay Tuned" to pop up before the credits. Perhaps they did, the dramatic run from the rolling ship was the last absurdity I could take that particular day.
We are far from enlightened as a society, a more sensible argument could be made to liken us to a cancer consuming ourselves along with the host. Greed is considered a 'right' and is played on by marketers and managers to feed our primitive limbic hunger. Go ahead, wheedle someone's welfare under false pretenses, it's just 'playing the game', right? More risk, more reward...just like at the casino. Greed=good. Kindness=weakness. Philanthropy is only good after you've raped your environment of all within your grasp. All others, keep dreaming and betting on the come...your turn at fantastic wealth and sated dreams is just around the corner. Any minute, now. Hang in there. Whatever it takes. Just Do It.
How can he assume there are no special characters ?
If it's a 'Verified By Visa' page, he/she knows they're not allowed. If that were the case, however, he/she would also know that clicking the 'Cancel' button at the bottom of the page 2x's forgoes the "security" and processes your transaction without it.
works for me on my legitimate transactions on a certain online etailer site that isn't new but is a bit eggy at times.
A 'Stop Crap' button for the lame films they spew. A 'Stop Bay' button to make him stop ruining my childhood like a TNT wielding GLucas on crack. A 'Stop Lucas' button while we're at it. A 'Stop Gouge' button that makes a movie night cost me less than or equal to what I make in it's equivalent running time. A 'Stop Loss' button that refunds me the price of admission, snacks and reimburses me for my time when the only good parts of the feature appear in the trailer in their entirety.
There's more, but I figure Santa can get started on these and I'll get the rest to him before Christmas.
That's what I said about Vista. It took all the way to SP 7 to fix that steaming pile. Where Vista nudged me into Linux, I believe 8 will be the last push over the edge.
Off to dust off my whiteboard with my CLI commands cheat sheet...
Came to post your thoughts and to add if the current mobile adoption/migration continues as it has private desktop ownership will take a much larger hit. As the 'Facebook & email' crowd unplugs their malware infested windoze boxes even less of them will be bought new.

I haven't posted much since the takeover but I wanted to log in one last time to say:
1) Thanks for ruining SF, that was remarkably fast.
and
2) FUCK OFF!
/. feeds will be deleted now, no more clicks to read comments for you parasites.

Isn't this the company who had to fly in the Englishman they stole the iPod design from to curtail an infringement verdict from Sony a few years ago?
Tried searching but even -samsung netted too much flotsam to find a reference. Anyone?
"My god, it's full of pies!"
Won't get excited or RTFA until I know, will it require a connection?
Refund?
/. lameness filter has rendered my post mostly lame.
Refund????
Refund????!!!!????
I would like to yell it like dad did in Breaking Away, but the lameness of the
Batshit crazy he most certainly is(affordability is everything), however, he did a fantastic job on NASA's Space Shuttle documentary.
Back in '03 I was blackballed for being too old. My loss...yeah...that's it... a loss.

To do nothing for the gomers was to do something, and the more conscientiously I did nothing the better they got.

Can anyone say 'End User Downgrade Rights'? Vista was actually pretty good for the bottom line after all those XP up...er...downgrades.

Look on the bright side, now fry cooks and sign-twirlers feel like they're really earning a 'competitive wage'.
Where's the Digg-ing of RP? A couple posts with his name in the title that quickly went off-topic? Go back to sleep.
