    related: The quants on Wall Street have 100% faith in their models and the data they use. They maintain that 'the market acted perversely' and that 'it could never happen again'.

    One of the founding fathers of quant finance warned them of 'black swans' and 'thick tail' behavior for years but they chose to ignore his wisdom. They still do... unpunished, unregulated and back to 'printing money" every day.

    It's also useful when you want to obscure the title selection's entirety.
    1: there's always someone naive enough to think a dog flick that shows up on pages twice(3x's, 4x's) may be that good
    2) the user base isn't acutely aware of just how limited the library really is.

    Oh my, would it be asking too much for more widgets, too? How about even more candy-coated themes for my optical delight? These are the issues we should all be concerned about. F those nits like security, spying and speed, I just want to pay $100+ for a NEW* OS with more dynamic libraries I won't use or another insecure security center that further obfuscates the network components needed to fix my machine when Help & Support clarifies how the computer should indeed function without any solutions. I really, really, really hope they add more layers of security services so the crackers can be entertained for a couple months.
     
    *NEW is their label, not mine...I'm guessing NT/XP/Vista SP8 would be less profitable.

    You are correct, sir! It is, sadly, already available to the highest bidder, check out the 5th segment, Narrowcasting. Acxiom even allowed cameras into their castle, which is surprising to me.

    Have they fixed the power supply over-heating/failure issues or are we still talking about the same warts that have a shelf-life of 12 months or less?

    I'm serious, I would like an answer b/c I have been wanting one since the first of many, many, many slashvertisements appeared here two, three years ago. Problem is, everything I read on the outside says they fail prematurely and warranty fulfillment is spotty, at best. Am I wrong, Dude?

    Dregslist thrives on this kind of flotsam, has for a long time. Anyone care to estimate how small they would be if they got rid of the ID thieves anonymously requesting resumes from the Jobs section, the fencers postng hot and worthless chit(my fav:Windows disks with used OEM keys) in the For Sale section, the rogue repeat posters who get away with posting the same ads 20 times a day every day of the week for products/services akin to spam subject lines, and, of course, there's the would-be far-away buyers who need your bank account number to transfer you the funds sitting in the wings.

    I'd go out on a limb and estimate a good 50%- 65% of Dregslist For Sale, Jobs and Gigs are scams, dregs and/or repeats. How is this newsworthy other than the fact that Dreg is doing nothing to stop it while profiting hugely?

    A friend was in a theater watching his son perform in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Several schools had shipped their kids in to see the play. Everyone agreed it was a great rendition. One teacher was so impressed she asked her colleague sitting next to her, "How did they get all those famous quotes into one play?"

    Suffice to say I view sentence structure and grammar as more important when considering the communication of information than the information contained. At least if it's presented properly, you have a reasonable chance of debunking it.

    I take it "u no txt"? Don't cut yourself short, that's an unreasonable requirement in this day and age of most slang riddled cultures. I know some very talented, very smart people(technically) who cannot spell for shit, let alone form proper sentences when speaking. I was put off early on, but have come to appreciate their wisdom despite their improper language skills.

    Assange, definitely a narcissist. Con-man? Meh, I think he may be under the influence of the spotlight twinkling in his eyes coupled with the fear of certain persecution.

    You are correct, +5MB won't fix browsing experience. I recently moved from the sticks and upgraded from Verizon Wireless 1MB service to Qwest DSL 5MB service. While I now pay less than half what I used to, my browsers still hiccup and pause loading pages at the same rate as before(FF, AB+, NS). Surfing and loading still seem slow, ***even on friends' 17MB connections***. The only bonus I realize is I don't have to pause/buffer streaming vid nearly as long as I used to or queue up iso downloads before I go to sleep at night. Since I don't stream that much vid, download many apps nor game online, I am not that impressed. Seems to me the BB bottleneck is not the problem for modern browsing.

    What if they didn't need cookies anymore? I'm sure if enough people with an agenda to get rich(er) got together they could track anyone and everyone...given enough resources and 'affiliates'. I never logged no-script blocks, but doesn't seem too implausible to get a small number of ad providers together to cooperate for massive data gathering gain.

    I don't know. All I do know is when Mega-Corps bring me flowers and tell me they're my buddy, I tend to look around to see what's in the other hand.
