If only "restarting things" would work in other areas of life, such as restarting your current job if it sucks, or restarting your marriage. Oh wait we already have that, its called divorce and getting fired.

Somehow I have the feeling that this wasn't developed by their people but that they bought out some other company that was creating this. I could be wrong but just my opinion.
You make a valid point. Perhaps in the future instead of mining the earth for natural elements, we will be mining landfills for all the things we didn't bother recycling.
"When you build an application in Cappuccino, you don't need to ever deal with HTML or CSS"
Wouldn't it be easier to use html and css, and isn't that the purpose of both of those languages? What about users that have javascript disabled?
This kid was probably very bored in school (much like I was) and I think we can all remember how "locked down" those stupid high school computer networks are. Sometimes, the more you lock something down, the more the end user wants to get around road blocks. To bad they couldn't have used this kids skills to find vulnerabilities in the network or make something positive out of his knowledge.
Way to go Mozilla, how are you supposed to make any sort of record when your website is completely down. Even if mirrors of the download pop up, there will no longer be a good way to track it.
"This one calls it for Obama, but then again you probably could guess that by just watching 10 minutes of any tv "News" channel."
Funny that you mention it. It's like the media has already decided the election by focusing on Obama, and specifically the democratic race for the past several months.
The problem with this is once you allow one thing to be blocked, it opens up the floodgates for other "objectionable" things to be blocked, which could even mean things are legal but considered objectionable. I think we can all agree (minus Eric Moeller from Wiki Media http://mashable.com/2008/05/08/erik-moeller-pedophilia/) that child porn isn't a good thing but it's the censorship that sucks.
I vote for opening up right clicking. I personally expect that I should be able to right click on just about anything within an online email client and be able to do some sort of action.
This is the most replies I've got on slashdot since I signed up so apparently getting a -1 mod and being a troll is the only way to have a discussion. Anyways I was being sarcastic since everyone on here always bitches about how they don't have flash installed....(remember the new dilbert website going to flash jackasses?)
You would think a/. user would be smart enough not to link directly to a flash file when submitting a story on/. considering 2% of users on here have flash.
In about 5 - 10 years apple will have 90% of the operating system market and will be up the same shit creek M$ is now and all the smug fanboys will have to find some other OS to chase. These things have their cycles.
I've always played this game on my own time. It seems that Wikipedia has some very, very long articles on WW2, so I'd always play a game to see how few clicks I could get to that article. I guess I should have wrote an article on it and see my site traffic go up due to the slashdot effect.
It's probably cheaper much like our houses here and cost of living is to you. You have a $500,000 2000 sq foot ranch while we can buy a 3,500 two story for the same price. The winters are cold but the summers are humid and hot. We have all 4 seasons.
Sure you could slack off and do whatever you want, but don't burn your bridges with you old employer, especially after you worked there for 9 years. 9 years is a hell of a chunk of time to screw up because you acted like an idiot during your last weeks. Perhaps this is time to get a letter of recommendation from your boss (if you get along well). I have had bosses do that for me before.
Isn't it ironic that we complain about having to work, but when there's no work to do, we complain? Shouldn't being paid to do nothing be a dream?
The OS can only do so much to stop spyware & malware. Sure Vista has the annoying UAC to alert users of possible malware but in the end the user still has to click yes/no.
One could argue that very little malware is written for linux or macs since there market share is only 5% and I might argue that users of linux (and possibly macs although I doubt it) are a bit smarter than your average PC user.
It would be a more useful report to compare Vista to XP.
I'm sure this has been said already but the nytimes site has over 454 errors! Gez, maybe they'd be better off using dreamweaver or hire some competent content submitters.
Wow, I never thought to scroll to the bottom of the page, I guess expert-SEXCHANGE lost another battle. - http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Web_Languages-Standards/PHP/Q_23596292.html

I have a giant Spock poster in my cube. I think that pretty much sums up all of computer science right there.
Perhaps Andrew Cuomo should go to jail for possessing child pornography, after all, he found and looked at over 80 pictures on the usenet.
Wow you hit the nail on the head. You're a good writer and a intelligent which is rare for slashdot comments.

It's one step closer to China.
Looks like global warming is doing something right. Now if only those plants could keep up and convert the co2 back to oxygen faster.

I think you guys need to take the tin foil hat of your head.
Google is going to kill you with SEO for having duplicate content on that sub domain, even though you're pagerank on this site is through the roof.

Dell Vostro $1,714 Macbook Pro $3,099.00 Either you're being sarcastic or you can't interpret you're own words correctly.
