Woah there cowboy. What I was doing was pointing out that the way my friends use twitter duplicates the functionality of a chatroom, albeit more slowly and without context. I never said that Twitter was without value. I think as an information dissemination tool it is unparalleled. I think that because of the ability to keep a large group up to date on an important project, twitter is amazing.
All I was saying was that in the hands of some of the people I know, I get a parade of replies to conversations that make no sense a la carte. Really the only think needed to fix it would be to have trackbacks to the person's tweet being replied to.
By the way, your "b)" bullet point was an ad hominem attack. Please stop that.
Clearly you interact with people who know that top-posting is evil and have no urge to reply to each email before reading the following responses that have been sitting in their inbox for 3 days.
That doesn't work for me. A top posted reply gets me the new info immediately. Everything else in the email, I've read before. If I need to go back and refresh my memory, I can.
That's a good question. I hadn't thought of that. Since my medical training amounts to watching Scrubs I'm not really sure. Perhaps there can be a RF transmitter in the device that takes readings and can be read by a non invasive tool.
BTW, mods please mod him insightful for that, I wasn't aware that was how sphygmomanometers work.
AT&T may also be getting in on it just in case Verizon was thinking about getting in on it. Kinda as a "just in case" thing. If for some reason Onlive isn't vaporware, AND they manage to get thier ISP back to a "pay-per-bit" model they would stand to make a killing on bandwidth charges. I could also see them implying to onlive customers that AT&T's pipes are better for the service than Verizon's.
According to the MIT write-up, you still have blood pressure. The device would pump more or less blood based on your body's need at the time. What you would NOT have is a systolic/diastolic reading. You'd have one pressure reading. No more 110/70 reading, perhaps a 85mmHg in its place.
Seems like a lot of network overhead for that... why not use a product like Steadystate or Deep Freeze? Is there an advantage to re-imaging every box nightly?
If your friend comes to you and says "I'm going to kill my wife tomorrow. Will you help?"
And you say "No"
But you don't inform the police that your friend is conspiring to commit murder, and the next day his wife turns up dead and he's the killer, then you have committed a crime by not trying to prevent the murder. In other words you've concealed the crime by omission.
That's accessory before the fact.
I was wondering if it applies to theft as well as murder.
Good for you, I guess... but that's kinda like letting your wife shoot you up instead of tying yourself off and doing it yourself. You're still addicted, you just have someone else controlling your supply.
Unless he told the police without being asked to, wuldn't that make him an accessory to burglary before the fact? or is accessory only a crime when it comes to murder?
Blizzard might, but remember, Activision are the guys holding the money. And if Activision's lawyers think that the company loses less money by settling and letting the copyright trolls go after their competition, that's what will happen.
Its just more of the same. Congress won't kill the program, but they'll just whittle the budget down every time its possible until its just a token effort, if it hasn't become that already.
If that's the way it has to be, I'd rather see NASA dismantled. Take the $3 bil budget, save half of it and make the other half into grants for private space exploration companies. 3 billion may be chicken scratch for a big gov't agency like NASA, but 1.5 billion is a buttload for Scaled Composites, or even Virgin. NASA can even stick around as a regulatory body (think the FAA... but in space).

Makes sense to me.
This is
What's top posting?
I agree, top posting is awful.
Clearly you interact with people who know that top-posting is evil and have no urge to reply to each email before reading the following responses that have been sitting in their inbox for 3 days.
I envy you.
That doesn't work for me. A top posted reply gets me the new info immediately. Everything else in the email, I've read before. If I need to go back and refresh my memory, I can.
Some of my friends use it like a slow-refreshing chatroom.
Their whole feed ends up looking like:
@quijibo I like them too but they make my toes burn
@tacoface wut you meen
@jlepty no he sux
@nerdboy877 #RT #FB #Weezer No U go wit him
I know nothing about what this person is doing, just that they don't punctuate, spell, or use proper grammar.

Or perhaps even the N-Gage!

A squid proxy server with Smartfilter works pretty well here at my office.
So he'll be receiving my money yesterday?
Well where are my lottery numbers? I am going to used to have been sending you my cash already!
We were told to attempt no landings there.
Reminded me of "Captive Honour" by Megadeth
And when you kill a man, you're a murderer
Kill many, you're a conqueror
Kill them all...
You're a god!
I'll bite....

I came here to say this. Why not encourage environmentally friendly behavior, instead of punishing for adhering to the status quo.

Well at least FEMA isn't involved, then.
What a coincidence! I advise people to buy new software after every Symantec install!
And they could have them based in of Brazil! BRILLIANT!
