Who said it was a cookie that was cached, and not the page content?
Um, google did...
From the story in the article...
Google was not immediately available for comment, but said in a Web site statement that the service can receive information such as the user's IP address, computer and connection information, and "personally identifiable information", such as an email address.
"Whenever your computer sends cookies with browsing or prefetching page requests for unencrypted sites, we temporarily cache these cookies in order to improve performance," the company wrote on its Web site.
That's a little different situation. That's records management, and yeah, it's best to delete stuff after a period of time. Business wise.
As a home user though, I want my backup cd's and dvd's to be there until I get rid of them. I don't want to have my digital photo albums start decaying after 10 years. I have some already at 6 years old.
I see this as nothing more than something to appease shareholders and discourage the low end pirate. They are trying to make it look like they are trying to prevent the claimed "100 trillion" lost every year in software piracy.
It's not meant to help thier customers, it's meant to help themselves.
Yeah i noticed this. I think i may have misunderstood the reason for them posting that link in the article. They should have linked the sarcastic "yeah right" not the first program text.

Is any self-respecting geek going to go to a place that can't talk about hardware correctly? But then again, if you had self respect, the EA attachment would probably stop you cold.
So Monster Cable wouldn't be able to extort money since they think they own the god damn word.

How does caching your cookies to the internet help speed up your local browsing?
Say someone hacks the site in a very public way, and then doesn't tell them how it was done.
Kinda shoots the entire thing in the foot huh?
Hmmm, I wonder if that type of ability is worth more than $150.
Mine is similar and I live about 250 miles from minneapolis.
I get the 5 at a time deal and average about 5 movies per week
Um, he said it was dark, dark, dark.
1000x darker than Empire.
Way dark.
He also said this is the movie the haters have been waiting for since Phantom.
It was paul newman, not steve mcqueen.
I am waiting for intel's 32768 core processor.
iirc, the p4ee dual core puts out 225 watts at full power.
That would make the chip putting out roughly 3686400 watts, or 3.686 megawatts.
It's too cold on this planet anyway.
I see 4 now on a dual processor server w/ hyperthreading.
I am waiting for the 8 graphs when you get 2 dual core chips with hyperthreading.
I don't think licensing applies to the virtual processors that hyperthreading brings in.
You can bet if the French think it's a good idea, the US will put current plans on hold.
But then you would need to admit that AMD's technology is technically superior.
And I doubt if intel marketing would appreciate that very much.
He would then find himself cut off and unable to make these "preview" articles.
That's a little different situation.

Usually thier LE and SE models have certain branches and pipelines already disabled. Usually these disabled pipelines are damaged in some way.
if you don't get it the first time, just keep refreshing.
It took me 3 times to get the invite on the screen.
haven't been able to talk to thier lawyer or any outside contact.
I couldn't find the sarcasm tag, so I tried to accomplish the same thing by writing "claimed" and putting "100 Trillion" in quotes.
It was an obvious exageration.
My point was, is that they are going to claim this is to prevent piracy, regardless of what they are actually doing.
I see this as nothing more than something to appease shareholders and discourage the low end pirate.

". I can't help but wonder how much a DVD costs once you're outside the US, Europe, Japan, and Australia."
I think that's what they are trying to address.
Because most of the mass piracy operations are in the far east.
I tried making my own entertainment system a while ago, the problem i had was the resolution of my 27" tv.
I could barely read webpages at 800x600.
With HD tv's coming more popular, i think the idea is going to catch on more.
Yeah i noticed this.

Whoops, good idea.

My cell phone can dial things now.
My guess is that the player isn't going to sort your music for you, you will need to put it in the genre you want.
Unless it's something really mind blowing, like it tells me what i want to hear next, and is actually correct, i am unimpressed.
or.... he just wants you to believe that.
