    go-oo is a different build to OOo. I am aware of an extension Sun Presenter Console, however I have never seen it in action because it crashes on any OOo I install it in.

    Is it really there this time? I'm cynical because I recall them saying it would be in 2.x and it wasn't. Then it was going to be in 3.0, and it wasn't.

    Blame the extension developer, and get them to fix it.

    Or just edit the extension yourself, in plaintext. It's not like it's some obscure binary.

    People also disable auto-updates because previous experience has hammered into them that Windows Updates can sometimes break things really badly.

    When IE7 was updated on one of my machines it toasted my local SMB network (only on the XP side). It took several hours of wasted effort before finding a workaround.

    This is your IT support's fault, not Windows Update's.

    Clearly your IT support should have installed an OS that was reliable enough to give a presentation.

    Uni is an extreme example. Those computers are often heavily locked down to prevent kids from running any kind of Torrent software.

    Question: Suppose you wanted to get around IP address blocking, but didn't need the overhead of anonymity that Tor provides. You just need an automated way to find peers on the other side of "The Wall" to act as proxies. Is there something out there to do this that might perform better than Tor?)

    This isn't automated, but it would probably work.

    Windows XP already does something this for downloaded executable files. It seems to have been introduced in SP2, and will popup the warning before running an untrusted program:

    "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"
