Distort, mislead, lie? The buzzer is for you.
Having given may press interviews I can tell you that reporters always WANT to get the story right, but never do. They just can't get deep enough into the technology to fully understand what they are writing about and there are always subtleties about the situation that are either glossed over or at the least not fully fleshed out. So I know that every news story I read is wrong, I just don't know why.
In this case, I believe the NYT way more than Musk. There is no NYT master plan to extract massive readership out of this. There is however, a master plan for Musk to sell lots of cars, and this is a big problem for him. Or maybe not - any publicity is good publicity, especially when the Musk/electric car fanboys rush to call the NYT guy a liar, a tool for big oil (that's rich!), and other insults.
There will always be individual gripes about product design tradeoffs. I have many about my Mac, not the least of which is that it cuts my wrists when I type on the damn thing.
But the proof is in the pudding: Apple is the most valuable company in the world by making and selling electronic crap. It has to be doing something right.
Mod parent up. This is EXACTLY Jobs' MO. All Jobs cared about was providing a positive user experience for the technology-ignorant masses. He fought tirelessly against engineers who worked hard inventing features to throw into products and thus were their champions, whether they added to the user experience or not. Look at all the devices where the engineers have too much control over product design and features - way over engineered and complicated, not designed with the user in mind, and nowhere near the market share of your typical like Apple product.
Jobs was the consummate product manager, who typically has no power, but he was also in charge.
She thought enough of your work to take you to lunch? I think you have to declare that.
I've been doing version control for years and never even got a Twinkie.
Just put unique identifiers on the bot, like colored reflectors, in horizontal sequence. Then you can tell if it's another bot, or your own bot in the mirror.
The real trick is to take a random object, with no unique identifiers, and classify it. beep beep - that's a bird - beep beep...
He knows what he said, and he knows he's right. Now he doesn't have the balls to stand in - either personally because of public reaction, and/or professionally because he was threatened by the MS -> Gartner chain of command.
If the core of the lawsuit is over the free parts of Java, are you telling me Ellison was not even prepped enough to answer that question? Who will get fired over that I wonder?
With fracking/natural gas and more offshore drilling, there is enough fossil fuel to last our lifetime and longer. This stuff is cheap compared to anything "green." As soon as any green tech takes hold, fossil fuel cartels (both US and abroad) will drop the price of their product and starve out the alternatives.
The only way green works is with a $5 per gallon fossil fuel tax that goes to alternative energy subsidies. But will anybody support that? Can you say "political third rail?"
Your point?
it was NOT meant to be funny! Just ask anyone who is out of work.
Your subsequent unemployment will motivate you to stay on task.

and you're on your way. What are you waiting for?
You should anyway. AAPL is toast.
Calling Dick Tracy! Pruneface has escaped!
The next release will fix some of the most obvious bugs.
Apple is toast without Jobs. Just a matter of time.

to discourage Windows use. Same problem as how crappy MS Office runs on the Mac.

Absolutely.
Because before they got smart enough to master long distance space travel they mastered WMDs and blew themselves up.
If you haven't seen the text of the Inman suit against Carreon it is required reading. Someone is going to jail for this one.
How long before FB is hated and flamed as much as MS and Apple on /.?
No one with any working braincells believes the world was created in 6 days , woman was created from a spare rib etc etc.
D'oh!

Always wondered...
Please?

...on aggressive partnering and OEM tactics. That was his real contribution to MS, nothing technical.
