By the way, Sony is hardly learning "The Hard Way." The vast majority of users don't even know about the rootkit fiasco, and are buying Sony CDs left and right with no intention of stopping.
The root kit was a blip on Sony's screen, and as far as they;re concerned it's over. Sony doesn't care what a bunch of geeks like us think, just the masses who buy Pop Music CDs.
The Republican Mods must be out in force tonight. Some Ditto-head jumps up and spew the same old same old talking points, and the mods seem to be lapping it up.
The sad thing is, according to many Republicans today, reporting on ANY negative aspect of Republican actions equates to Liberal fear mongering. The outright Religious faith republicans have in The Shrub is a pathetic thing to see. It's the same mentality that leads people into the sway of televangelists and their ilk.
I guess some people just WANT to be deceived, or are too mind numbingly stupid to realize they're being fooled. How else can one explain the continued existence of the Republican party?
I've got a copy of "Poor Richard's Almanac" reprints I picked up at the Henry Ford museum about 15 years ago. The quote, and the attribution to Jefferson, are in one of the reprinted issues. I haven't found any online sources though, and the book is lost somewhere in the labyrinth of my Parents' basement.
I'm just curious. It seems kinda odd that a post that just spews random "Liberals are evil so we must ignore everything they say" nonsense is a "+4 insightful"
There's no actual content or arguments in the post. The closest it comes is wild speculation about what the packaging looks like.
Is this really what passes for being "Insightful" in this day and age?
Of course, no Democrat has received a majority of the vote for president for almost 30 years, but anything can happen.
You pulled that from so far up your ass you had to grab your own stomach on the way.
That's a complete fabrication, and you know it.
Do you have a link to something other than an EIB site to support this bit of nonsense?
Oh, wait, you're a Neocon. Research is probably considered "of the Devil" by your wee little mind. The fact that BUSH is the one who was elected without a majority, and that you don't have any examples to support your claim mean nothing to you. After all, if Rush Limbaugh said it, it MUST be true!
They don't care about privacy. They care about the complaining. And they want to think of themselves as victims. For that "I'm a victim, empower me and give me goodies" benefit. Privacy is a pretense.
You nit wit. You aren't even arguing against a current stereotype. Didn't you get the memo? The "Liberals are victims" straw man went out of style in late 2001. The current trend is to justify ignoring Liberals by calling them "Anti-American" or "Traitors."
You're hanging on to the 1980's and 1990's straw man, NOT the current one, and you're coming off an uninformed and out of date.
Terrorism is the new Communism, and you're suppose dot be attacking Liberals from that angle.
Remember, now that it's Republicans in power, Big Government (The Fed is larger now then it has been at any point in history) is a GOOD thing, because it's monitoring you to "Protect your freedom."
Get with the program and get in line. Harping on the stock straw man form the last CENTURY makes the GOP look out of step and disorganized.
You seem to have forgotten the fact that the current administration has submitted the LARGEST budget in history, and this is with a Republican controlled congress.
where are you getting this claim of "Spending money you didn't earn"? Income taxes take money I already earned, and if there were no taxes, I would have MORE of the money I DID earn!
Oh, wait, I'll bet you're one of those libertarians who thinks we should privatize everything. You might want to do some research into what life was like back when fire departments were privately run. It's a sad thing to see.
Kindly turn off Rush Limbaugh and FOX news and TRY looking at a news or information source outside of your normal experiences. Thomas Jefferson once said, "If you can only afford one newspaper, buy the opposition's."
Ah, forget it. If you actually read anything Jefferson wrote, you'd damn him as a Liberal Atheist and write off anything he says as junk.
I can't beleive I just wasted time replying to a Troll.
The most popular brand, Dragon Skin, is BETER than what the army provides.... if you're killed in combat while wearing body armor that wasn't issued by the military, your family doesn't get your death benefits.
There was a a case a few weeks ago where a guy was paralyzed from the waist down, and the military withheld his pay until he paid back a few grand in combat pay
If you have any doubt look at hos the soldiers in Iraq are being treated. They aren't getting much body armor, so some soldiers are going into debt to buy theory won body armor. The most popular brand, Dragon Skin, is BETER than what the army provides.
However, the military doesn't like their soldiers taking the initiative like that, so if you're killed in combat while wearing body armor that wasn't issued by the military, your family doesn't get your death benefits. Your wife and children don't get a red cent for your life.
There was a a case a few weeks ago where a guy was paralyzed from the waist down, and the military withheld his pay until he paid back a few grand in combat pay that they'd overpaid him because of a clerical error. You try to come up with $4k when you have two kids, no job and you just lost the use of EVERYTHING below mid waist. Unless your wife is a banker or heiress, you're screwed.
Then there's the guy who had to pay $600 for body armor that was destroyed when his arm was shredded by an enemy land mine. Seems no one wanted to own up to losing the paperwork on the body armor that was pulled from his body as medics were trying to keep him from bleeding to death.
As far as the government is concerned, the soldiers are meat, one more commodity to ship to the war zone so the military contractors can line their pockets.
Major technological innovations in computers and the Internet have been driven by porn. Adoption rates are, among most early adopters, driven by that technology's ability to deliver porn. This is true of Broadband, the early graphics card races, DVD drives and the Internet itself.
This interface requires two hands.
Need I say more?
Don't make me to spell it out in anatomical detail.
All Sony hardware will come with a Root Kit pre installed, so you can act as a node on a zombie Spam network without any activity on your part!
Just plug in, connect to the network and go!!!
As an added bonus, anyone who buys or hacks the Sony "vertical marketing module" will be able to access any in game contact information you've stored for online gaming! As a result, you'll be able to send v1argr@ popup ads to all your opponents and allies in on line MMPG games!
Normally I ignore AC posts, but you hit the nail on the head.
The fact that you can only download ONCE is well publicized when buying through iTunes. You're warned to back up your music several times. The fact that getting music OFF the iPod is also well documented.
They guy and his client were morons for not backing up all the data from the old MAC before ditching it. They're trying to blame someone else for their mistakes.
As for only being able to download once, that's why I get my audio books through audible.com. When you buy something from them, you have a license to download it as many times as you want, in one of four different quality levels. While they have limits on how many computers you can authorize at once, I've never had any problems when asking them just do a blanket deauthorization when I'd reformatted a computer before deauthorizing it.
"Go off the record when you're chatting so nothing gets saved to anyone's Gmail account"
In other words, not only can you disable logging of your chat sessions, but you can prevent any other Google Talk users form logging a chat session in which you are a participant.
This is great for the slimy bosses who want to screw other other employees, "NO, I NEVER told you you would get a 20% raise if you worked 80 hour weeks to complete the project on time, certainly not in a chat session!"
It's also a great feature for cheating spouses who don't quite trust their lover to NOT keep chat logs and other "evidence."
It's also cool for those of us who just don't want our poor spelling saved for all time.
This is why my Mother-in-Law brings ear plugs to concerts and movies, so if it's too loud for her, she can put them in. That way, she's accepting personal responsibility for her hearing, and NOT trying to shift the responsibility onto anyone else.
She even brings enough for everybody.
When I got my iPod, I bought a pair of high end earphones form Shure. With them, I'm very comfortable listening at much lower volumes than with a regular pair of ear buds or headphones.
It's all about taking care of your own body, instead of whining like a spoiled little brat demeaning everyone else do it for you.
What's next, some spoiled little mamma's boy going to sue McDonnalds for making him fat, as if any reasonable person with an IQ above 50 should realize fast fod is BAD for them?
... anyone who does not believe politicians (even their favorites) capable of doing something wrong when left unsupervised should have both their head and their American citizenship, examined. -Concern on/.
Well stated.
Mind if I go to cafepress and get them to make up some t-shirts and bumper stickers of the above?
You can't burn a flag, but you can listen on my phone calls without due process?
That's because the symbol of freedom is more important that the freedom itself.
Fetishism of things like the flag, the presidential seal and the nation as a whole, allows those who seek a police state to tramp actual liberties into the ground.
It's not a logical disconnect, but a simple game of misdirection. First, you get people focused on a handful of issues like abortion, flag burning and gay rights. Because of the tunnel vision directed at those issues, things like the actual implementation of the Bill of Rights can be swept under the carpet.
That's why the Gay Marriage issue was the BEST thing that could have happened to George W during the last campaign. It was a highly polarizing issue that took up enough media attention for things like Bush's actual record to fall out of the nation's radar.
Remember, the MPAA and RIAA both require signatures in blood for a contract to be considered binding on the part of the MPAA. Verbal contracts are binding if you're doing something FOR the MPAA, but if you want the MPAA to do something (or not do something in this case) then it has to be signed in blood, in triplicate by four MPAA executives under a blood moon.
All your Bass are belong to us.

Make wild, unfounded claims on scant, irrational chains of thought no would dare call "logic."
Publish it.
Get people talking about what a moron you are and how absurd your predictions are.
Collect your royalty fees and advertising revenue from all the page hits your absurdity got. In other words, Profit!
Here's my prediction: Underpants Gnomes to hire Dvorak as their new business consultant.

Army Orders Soldiers to Shed Dragon Skin or Lose SGLI Death Benefits
There was a a case a few weeks ago where a guy was paralyzed from the waist down, and the military withheld his pay until he paid back a few grand in combat pay
Wounded Soldiers Told They Owe Money to Army Seems this is happening so much Nightline is doing an investigation. One telling quote: "No Pay for Four Months"
Then there's the guy who had to pay $600 for body armor that was destroyed when his arm was shredded by an enemy land mine.
My Mistake. It was $700
field medic tied a tourniquet around Rebrook's right arm to stanch the bleeding from shrapnel wounds. Soldiers yanked off his blood-soaked body armor. He never saw it again. But last week, Rebrook was forced to pay $700 for that body armor, blown up by a roadside bomb more than a year ago.
Oh wait, I forgot... civilized Western nations never commit torture upon their subjects.
Dude, that idea is SOOOOO 20 years ago.
Get with the times man!
Just saying...

Well, they'll get a taste of being one of the small guys soon, what with the public broadcasting budget being gutted in the most recent budget.

Oh grand.
Now Apple will end up with as many unexpected hardware crashes, system freezes and other problems as a PC or Palm Pilot.
Palm, the only platform less stable than Windows.

On the bright side, Sony Vio owners don't need to worry. Their BIOS comes pre-hacked, so there's no room for more malware!
They're cutting all product lines for which they can't create DRM and a Root Kit.

That's depressing.
